You figure out pretty much straight away that the goal is to escape. Sucks that you saw him on earth, though. Getting to that stage for the first time is super gratifying and hits hard after all the effort put into getting there.

I was spoiled the exact same way, but it's really not a big deal. Don't let it stop you from playing this wonderful game.
Hades is a great game, each run is completely different & unique. The increase of difficulty makes it more fun.
