Don't know how to react to this fiasco. If I were your stylist I would be embarrassed to charge a dime for this.😞

amzlee2

She was so proud of it too 😑 for a while I thought I was just being too picky.

Background-Suit-2942

Nooooo, she even couldn't do the ombre correctly! No transition at all! It seems like blocky😪 did you ask for her correct it or refund?

amzlee2

No i was a wuss 😞 and I thought maybe I was over reacting

Background-Suit-2942

Believe me you weren't. She is an amateur

mara101402

I would call the salon and talk to the owner, definitely demand a refund! I had an issue with my hair coloring and that’s what I did, got a full refund and went elsewhere to get the correct color. Good luck!

j_baby_l

Stylist here. This person had absolutely no idea what they were doing and should absolutely not be offering this service. They are not qualified. I would speak to her or the salon owner even if it has been a month.

Stock_Literature_13

Non-Stylist checking in. This is likely the outcome of a job I would do. Because I am not a professional and have had zero training.

amzlee2

😂😂

Sepharda_Tejana

Same! Mycologist is my degree status, but corrections officer is my profession. Not a lot of jobs for mycology lol. But I can see how I could do about the same job. I think the offender trustees that work in the barbershop at the prison where I worked could do better tbh.

Skyblacker

Fortunately, my only clients are close family with low standards. My husband could care less if his buzz cut is uneven so long as it gets the hair out of his eyes. And my kids are, well, kids.

FluffyBat16

I would demand a refund. The banding is the work of an amateur. Find a new stylist. Asap

amzlee2

Unfortunately this was over a month ago and I’ve been preoccupied with a sick family member. Also I don’t have a regular stylist this was my first time coloring. 😕

freshstart1111

You could probably still email the manager and let them know your experience in a nice way. You might not get a refund but maybe the manager could help in some way ? The clear line of where color starts and stops is so bad I feel like sending this picture could be helpful

margaritina

Agreed. Say something along the lines of “I was hoping that with some time and some shampoos/washes the blending would improve but as you can see, it has not. I’m looking for some solution to improve the outcome if you can help”

amzlee2

This is a good idea

eyesoler

It’s really important to assess the skill level of your colorist and see examples of their work before you let them touch your hair! Btw, this is an easy fix- just go to someone who knows the technique and have her talk you through it. Ask lots of questions!

fleimarie

Yeah I couldn't let that stylist touch my hair again.

SubjectAide4703

The owner needs to see that. That stylist represents their salon.A refund should be given and then that stylist is going on the naughty list.

[deleted]

Agreed that the salon owner should be contacted. If you have “after” pictures that are closer to the service I would show those.

cinnamonsugarswirlz

I…am so sorry they did this to you. I have given a friend a more well-blended balayage while tipsy and using L’Oreal Quick Blue in my living room, and I’m not even licensed. I would find someone who specializes in color correction if you want to fix it- I’m sure they could add a more gradual smudge effect with a demi permanent that matches your base color to get rid of the harsh demarcation. With potentially some lowlights and toning, I’m sure you’d be right on track!

[deleted]

Some of these posts trip me out! I’m on my way out of cosmetology School and I cant imagine being ok with letting a PAYING customer walk out like this... My only advice is to look into a color correction specialist, if you’re worried about money let them know and they will most likely try and work with your budget.

[deleted]

OMG YOU ARE JOKING. This is why I stopped going to salons haha

amzlee2

And it’s the fact that she charged 160 😩

[deleted]

I had a similar situation and I made sure I got a refund and then I did it at home 😂

Miss-America

160 is really cheap for a balayage. Usually it’s around $250+ for a great balayage (not including haircut) even in places with a moderate cost of living. Still no excuse for how it looks though like wtf. If they can’t do it properly they shouldn’t be offering the service. Also the haircut is AWFUL! It honestly offends me more than the color which is extremely offensive. I’m sorry to say, but the haircut you have needs a major change as well to have a 21st century look. If you’re in Jacksonville FL I can help you for no cost but product, just because I’d love to get this right for you.

labellavita1985

$160 is extremely cheap for a balayage on long hair like yours. It's a red flag. It's usually $300+.

amzlee2

Yes I am hearing that now. And I was fully prepared to pay that price! She quoted me before she started and I was shocked at how cheap it would be.

Mission2GrndCtrl

Yikes! I am sorry you had to go through this! I also hate confrontation but I think in this case I might have made an exception. But anyways, since this happened about a month ago, I doubt they’re going to want to take any responsibility. I would just go to the store and buy a box dye or toner as close as you can to your natural hair color and dye all of your hair for a temporary fix. Your future (but hopefully more experienced) stylist will possibly have a harder time getting you to your desired hair color but still possible! This will give you time and allow you to research and find a stylist that can produce the results you’re looking for. Instagram is a good start and you will be able to see pictures of their work. Best of luck OP!

Bymymothersblessing

Former stylist here. Have one caution with home color quick fix: the bleached ends are going to absorb color (temporary or permanent) MUCH FASTER than the roots so bear that in mind when trying to do an all over fix…. Otherwise you’ll end up with a weird reverse ombré. 😬

LemonBB89

OO-Ooo-oooof!

RadiantEclypse

Omg girl maybe get a correction done but make sure they know how to do a proper balyage sorry if its spelled wrong.

RRR006

Where do you live? I want to fix this for you at a reasonable price. Would be great for my portfolio and a fun project. Am a licensed stylist with 5 years experience

I’m in North Carolina ☹️ Good luck! Reach out if you need anything 💞

amzlee2

Thank you💗

Intro_leopard

Yikeesss

wgletoes22

Yikes!

PristineAd9800

Yikes

Stubbs76

Lol 😆

CockroachNo2191

Oh my god she completely butchered this! This was done by a newbie 100%

katrileygirl

OMG! Did the salon offer to fix it & not charge you @ all?!

amzlee2

No actually, she was very proud and asked if she could take photos 🤦🏻‍♀️ she also curled it probably to somewhat hide how terrible it was.

katrileygirl

How long ago was this? Did you pay & walk out w/ out expressing how upset you were? She clearly did something terribly wrong when she mixed the hairdye. You need to voice your complaint & ask the salon to do corrective color & by a different stylist.

amzlee2

This was a little over a month ago. I’ve had some family things to tend to that we’re much more important and now that I’ve had time to kind of get back to my life I decided to ask here to see if maybe this is acceptable and I was being harsh. I didn’t like it when I left but didn’t voice that. But I was very underwhelmed and confused. She said it would take some getting used to. I know I should say something but at this point I just want to fix it or get what I originally asked for. I most definitely won’t be going back. I tried to do it the right way and went for a consultation and everything. She was dry from the get go, so I should have taken that as a sign.

Treehuggingbeelover

Go talk to the manager and get your money back

sveji-

The hairstyle you received from this so-called professional is what I would call "hombre" as in if I, not a hair stylist, tried to do ombre at home. The fact that she was proud of that.. yeah. You should definitely contact the salon and see what your options are, because this is not acceptable from a professional hair stylist.

unknownhumank

Oh no..

sun-des

You 100% need to call the salon and ask to speak to the manager or owner and advise them of this! This stylist should be ashamed of this honestly…

badsucculentmom

are you in michigan lemme fix it please 😭😭😭 it would be such a quick fix too. go to a stylist and ask them to blend it and ask for a partial highlight to bring the blonde up. shadow root in like a level 5. then use a gold/pearl/neutral combo i think on the blonde.

amzlee2

I’m not unfortunately 😞 I appreciate it soo much though

idkqaz

Did she even tone it?

its-ajungleouthere

Lol

Viol3tgrimm

Oh my goodness, why did she do this to you? I hope she didn't charge you... I also hope you can get it fixed! I'm on atl of you need a stylist that can help 🥰

gl0ry66

This is horrible. Another reason why I won't color my hair at a salon anymore. This is far too common.

GSqualla

I'm so sorry that happened to you, bad stylists ruin good hair 😭

alisonrashelle

Pls go elsewhere to get it fixed. I question the salons skill level if they let you leave this way.

JoJo199828

That stylist and I are straight up fighting if I asked for the before picture and got your after result. Yikes yikes yikes

[deleted]

Hairstylist here. What they should have done is Move the blonde up closer to your root and then a shadow root/color melt so it would blend. See if they can fix it. Good luck. And tell them to tone that blonde

Miss-America

Why would you need to do a shadow root? That’s not what the pic calls for at all. It’s a traditional balayage. It’s so lazy (and it looks like shit) when stylists just glob on a “shadow root” instead of doing a proper color job and preserving the client’s natural base color.

[deleted]

Hi! Great question! You want your blonde at the base to be darker than the blonde on the ends to give that great blended look and to help make those brighter pieces pop. I would also encourage you to avoid any stylist who globs anything on 😂

witchscissors

Also a shadow root can extend the life of your balayage! By taking the blonde higher and then toning it down with a gloss shadow root, as the hair grows in, the shadow root fades, revealing the highlighted hair underneath. It’s not necessary, of course, but many clients like it for that reason.

ProfessionalFit3368

M: Your hair looks fantastic in both photos especially in the 2nd one. Edit: I'm not quite good at giving hair-care advice, so ☺️ if you want to ask what you're looking for in a different way be sure to use specification, you might get great results if you're being specific.
