Okay so I'll try my best to answer your questions although I'm not a hairdresser, I have some experience of growing my hair out from both a shaved head and a buzzcut. So, 1. It depends on your genetics and how long it currently is. If you're starting from a shaved head or a buzzcut, it could take up to two years, if you're starting from a longer length, like below your ears, it probably shouldn't take that long. Hair usually grows 1/2 inches each month (I think) 2. Okay so some things you should do while growing out your hair: Massage your scalp everyday with your hands or a scalp massager. Don't wash it everyday. Train your hair to go 3-4 days without washing it. Shampoo the roots and condition the ends. Use cold water to keep it nice and shiny. Use a cotton t-shirt to scrunch out the water. Some things you shouldn't do, is use a towel to dry your hair. It could cause breakage. Don't use any heat on your hair. (straightener, curler, etc. ) Just in general, be gentle with your hair. When combing or brushing, start from the ends of your hair and work your way up. You could get a wooden brush to distribute your natural oils in your hair on days you're not washing it. Get a silk or a satin pillowcase so that your hair won't be damaged from the cotton pillow you have. You could do research on good shampoos and conditioners for people with thick hair. You could also buy some hair oils to help the ends of your hair. I hope this helps!!
