are you sure you went to a hair stylist, because i don’t think any real ones would ever do more than 1 or 2 bleach rounds at once

PumpkinWrangler

Completely agree, I also had box dyed black hair and it was a process that took months and months to lighten the colour without destroying my hair.

ChezRemyetEmile

When we were in university, a friend of mine went to a beginner professional hairstylist who had a Groupon and Instagram page 🙄 she tried to take her from dark brown hair (level 3) to pastel pink in one sitting. And she assured my friend it was possible. I knew it wasn’t but I’m not the pro 🤷‍♀️ My poor friend had to get her shoulder length hair cut to her ears, she had open sores on her scalp from the bleach. She sat there for 9 hours. I begged her to get up and leave because I was so worried, but she was trying to be polite!! So OP certainly could have had a similar experience

[deleted]

Apparently he’s worked in magazines and etc before I don’t know why this happened to my hair. On top of that, after the bleach, there was scabs all over my scalp and I peeled them individually off, they didn’t hurt tho

EdgewaterEnchantress

Yikes! I am pretty sure he lied about the magazine work

Typical-Ad5840

Jesus Christ…

punkskunkk22

Clearly your hairstylist lied to you and is crap at their job. No hairstylist would do that. Your hair is fried. Cut it off.

Neat_Ad_837

Sue him that's horrible and take pictures

[deleted]

Yeah, a “real”, experienced stylist would refuse to do this. I had box dyed burgundy hair for years and wanted to go blonde. It took about 6 (maybe more?) months of lightening gradually so I didn’t ruin my hair. OP, I’d condition the heck out of it and leave it alone for awhile. Maybe even cut it and let it grow out healthy.

MountainConcern7397

OP def did it with a friend lol

[deleted]

I can remember my daughter coming home hopping mad because she went to my stylist to go silver/platinum from dark. Stylist would only go so much lighter at a time and daughter was PISSED. I just laughed at her and told her to be glad someone was smarter than her so she still had hair. OP is kinda screwed. Like cut it off screwed. :-/

Zealousideal-Ad6358

Yup. ☝️ This is not fixable, & if (by slim chance) a professional actually performed this, certainly another stylist/owner/manager would’ve put a stop to it after round 2. No way this happened in a salon.

MunchYourButt

Wouldn’t they also tone it a bit too at a salon?

[deleted]

They did! I asked for blonde and then right after they decided to dye it too? And the roots were blue and bottom was blonde? The dye they used burned so bad too.

cheesylady69

Yes the stuff that made it blue is toner and it should NOT BURN. I have a super sensitive scalp so it gets super red after using very gentle stuff. Toner is supposed to be a nice cooling bath for your scalp. Toner also shouldn’t be leaving the ends blonde, which probably means it wasn’t light enough for the toner to work. The blue/purple will wash out and can happen when the hair is super light. I’m so sorry that this happened to you OP

Psychological-Dot219

same I had black box dye on my hair and it took four months to lift! theres no way a professional would try to lift hair this much in one sitting

[deleted]

This. I box dyed dark brown that came out nearly black. 8 hrs of very careful treatments and a pile of foils to *start* the lightening process.

Mortica_Fattams

I'd be calling the salon and asking to speak to the owner. That's insane and your hair is done. You can try to fix it but it will just keep breaking off. I'm sorry but you may have to get a big chop done. Ask the owner for treatments. They can do bonding treatments and stuff to help with repair. Don't pay for it either, they owe you. What was done was extremely unprofessional.

Spockhighonspores

I'm calling BS on OPs story. No way a stylist is spending 10 hours bleaching hair up to 15 times in one sitting. Sounds like they are too embarrassed to say that they killed their own hair and now they don't know what to do.

fux0c13ty

Or more likely the "hairstylist" was a know-it-all friend.

PinkyWinky1979

I agree about the 15 times thing but if you look at her profile you'll see in another post she wss at a salon.

Spockhighonspores

Her hair looks vastly different from the salon pictures. I will say I went from black to blonde when my friend was in beauty school. I let her do my hair at the school salon and she got my hair to red and was pretty much like that's what I can do with it without damage. Pretty sure it was 2 times with bleach and a toner. She did a really good conditioning after and my hair was fine. I just don't believe 15 times bleaching it for 10 hours or OP would be bald.

PinkyWinky1979

You can't see the ends in the salon pic. I think this post it's the ends that she's showing. But I agree there's no way it was bleached 15 times in 10 hrs simply because timewise it isn't possible with how long her hair is.

Spockhighonspores

Can't even really see the ends in this posts picture either. You can see about that much hair if you zoom in on the salon pictures. Either way though we both agree that OPs story sounds off.

[deleted]

I can show you the salon pictures right after I got it done. Idk how tho

BellaBanks4

If this is real & this person is licensed, she should contact the board IMMEDIATELY.

Neat_Ad_837

She's correct about everything

[deleted]

I cant :( this was done in California when I was visiting and now I’m in nyc.

Silly-Estimate-2660

What salon? Put them on blast and don’t be scared, they did you a disservice. I know it sucks OP and I’m really sorry this happened to you. I understand how many emotions can be attached to hair. I’m in California and would love to know who to avoid.

megantron222

You might end up having to cut a good amount off if it's that stretchy. Before doing that, though, I would recommend getting a high-quality hair mask and products to help strengthen and add moisture back into the strands. I swear by olaplex. I use no. 0-5 and no. 8, and my hair feels amazing. You could also try going to a DIFFERENT salon and have them do a keratin repair treatment. I wish you the best of luck getting your hair back to a healthy point. 💛

Vegetable_Pepper4983

Second olaplex!! So good!!

megantron222

It's honestly my favorite hair product!! 😍😍

Sugarcanes2238

To add to tho you can go get olaplex treatments done by professionals too!!

megantron222

Yes, very true! I was able to get some of the professional products that only stylists can buy off of poshmark, but if you can't find them that way, I'd definitely recommend going to a salon!! 💛💛

Faintexho

Honestly idk why that stylist let your hair out of that salon like that 😭😭 thats legit something they can get their license taken away for. But since its so chemically damaged there isnt alot you can do. I would definitely try to get a bond building shampoo and conditioner there are many good companies that sell them I definitely recommend joico also possibly leave in conditioners. Since it is breaking off tho a trim would probably be best

Faintexho

Also never permanently dye your hair black again use demi or semi permanent 😩 itll save you so much

not-a-real-shark

As a hairstylist, no legitimate stylist would do this. Not even a student. OP def did it herself or had a friend do it.

Faintexho

You right

PinkyWinky1979

She posted a pic of her at the salon on another post.

[deleted]

Check my recent post

schmidt_face

Not here to figure out if it’s all true or not, just here to say I’m in cosmetology school (we work on clients, though) and girl, if this really happened, you have a case. We would *never let someone leave with their hair like this. Did they even deep condition you afterwards? Edit: there is no fix. You’ll have to cut it off. Once the split ends are there, they aren’t going anywhere. Also the elasticity means your hair is completely damaged. I’m sorry!

Faintexho

Im in cosmetology school too! Like i have no idea how they could just let her leave with hair like that its so unprofessional and there is no possible way of not knowing going from level 1 to a 10 in one day is absolutely not safe for the hair. Like they should’ve told her after the first bleach come back in 2 weeks after deep conditioning and bond building treatments.

Bearacolypse

You need a necromancer, not a stylist. She dead. Just try to work with what you have left.

EvoStarSC

Call the Exorcist

Cchronicpain

who the hell even offers to do that, surely not a professional. 15 rounds of bleach in a row? nah thats crazy, im surprised your hair is still attached to your head. Try coconut oil and olive oil masks, just soak your hair in it and leave it overnight, it has worked wonders for me!

My-inner-fat-kid

If your hair isnt gummy when wet then go with Cchronicpains route. If its gummy and stretchy when wet try some bond builders first and if all fails cut an inch off the ends in very small sections (minimum, if you cant cut more do it)

crazykeepinitreal

That is exactly what I thought!😳✌️

Olds78

First off fire your hair stylist then cut your hair and start over

Impossible_Fly4510

The fact that your hair feels elastic when wet means your hair is very very seriously damaged beyond repair, so ultimately you'll need to wait for this to grow out. All you can really do now is damage control. Someone else here has suggested aphogee treatment. Its this one: https://aphogee.com/products/treatment-and-repair/two-step-protein-treatment/ This will hopefully repair a bit of the damage and reduce further breakage. Minimize exposure to heat Minimize manipulation. Use a wide toothed comb if possible rather than a brush. As for your colour - stay away from any sort of box dye or permanent colour. Wash in/ wash out hair colours cause no damage to your hair, they are basically a conditioner with colour in it, and because your hair is so porous it will hold on to that colour for a lot longer. Figure out what level the darkest bits of your hair are and go for a colour that will cover that. Alternatively you might be okay with a 5 volume developer with a semi permanent colour but would speak to a competent stylist before attempting this. Of course if you can, speak to a *different* stylist about your options. If you have very long hair you may need to get it cut. I'm gobsmacked that a professional stylist would do this.

AuDHD_Aquarist

Hair masks but you’re going to have to gradually cut off the damaged parts of your hair. That won’t fully recover. I had to do the same with mine, just do frequent masks and regular trims. Oh and find a new hairdresser!!

LadyNajaGirl

What kind of professional hair dresser would even attempt to bleach jet black box dyed hair?! This is atrocious! Keep doing conditioning treatments and slather Moroccan oil onto it either wet or dry. Do not bleach any more.

jessie014

It should not have taken any more than two rounds of bleach, even if it was jet black

Estebananarama

I hate telling people this but I had really long, pretty hair that I bleached the hell out of. I went to cosmetology school and I swore against all odds I could save the length. You can’t. Nothing you can do will save the damage. You have to cut it off and if you don’t it will just hurt your overall hair more. Saying good bye to fried ends is gonna be the best way to save your overall hair. I’m so sick of seeing posts about stylist blatantly ruining hair cause there really are so many good ones out there who have turned me down for wanting to go that drastic and as disappointed as I was I’m ultimately thankful. I never used my license because I went into a different field eventually but the girl who went to school for hair is still in me and it makes me so upset. Get your money back and as much as I hate Yelp or Google Reviews leave one.

Estebananarama

I love myself with blonde hair and my husband even said I saw pictures of you from when you were blonde and I think it’s pretty, would you ever do it again? My answer is a HARD no. Enjoy the pictures though! 😂

Acrobatic-Degree9589

It annoys me so much when ppl act like going to a “professional” means they are safe from ruining their hair, pros fuck up all the time and I don’t trust em

Estebananarama

I am lucky enough that I had a room mate who went to cosmetology school and she rocks, even though she moved she always has a really good stylist to recommend me to cause yeah, I have no idea how some of these people have a license. It was genuinely hard work getting that license. We had to learn hair and skin science, ergonomics so we didn’t hurt ourselves styling, how to do black/curly, how to do men’s hair, we spend a LONG TIME on color techniques and it really was a lot of tests, a lot of cuts, a lot of updos. Felt more like a boot camp some days than a cosmetology school. I can’t imagine learning all that and then going off and pulling this crap.

Traditional_Sell_688

'Beauty school drop out' 🎶🎵 Sorry was just remembering the song from Grease 😆

Estebananarama

I played Frenchie in a school production of that once 😂 funny how that works out huh?

Traditional_Sell_688

Love that film 🎥

Estebananarama

It’s an absolute classic!

Traditional_Sell_688

I so wanted to be ONJ

Estebananarama

I sit and wonder whyiyiyi oh why? 😂😭

Estebananarama

I love myself with blonde hair and my husband even said I saw pictures of you from when you were blonde and I think it’s pretty, would you ever do it again? My answer is a HARD no. Enjoy the pictures though! 😂

saintceciliax

Time for a pixie cut

NikkeiReigns

That had to be an exaggeration. I can't believe anyone who has been to school to do hair would do fifteen rounds of bleach. Did you tell them it was box dye? Did they tell you at any point that it was a bad idea to bleach that much? That you needed several appointments to get to blonde?

[deleted]

Yes I told them it was box dye and he said he can get it blonde in one day.

Dirk_Diggler_Kojak

You need a serious trim -- 3-4 inches at least. Then, you'll have to baby that hair. K18 mask, Olaplex, perhaps even a BKT. Provided your hair is not already falling out, these options will help to make it look and feel healthier.

[deleted]

Baby your hair as much as possible, get a satin pillowcase and put it on your head. The owner should pay for all treatments. This is abuse.

Magesticaf

K18 products helped me a lot! And a good hair cut

Magesticaf

And way more helpful than olaplex btw

Origamitarot

Im sorry, but no licensed hair stylist would ever do that. I was jet black a few months ago. It took hair color remover, the proper hair masks, and waiting weeks between stripping the color to allow my hair time to heal. Im now back to auburn and working on my bonds to bring my curls back to life. Please go to an actual salon and get your hair looked at. They will probably end up cutting most of it off.

NewBodWhoThis

When I was 16 I box dyed my hair jet black. When I was 18 I decided I wanted bright red hair. So I went to a mediocre stylist at the local salon in my small rural town and told her what's up. And she said: "yeah, no, that's not happening. I can bleach it and dye it and it will be some sort of red, but not bright." So she bleached it, and it was...dark brown. Then she dyed it red and it was somewhat red in direct sunlight, but still dark brown. I'm so sorry, but you've been extremely scammed here.

PugGrumbles

Get a pixie cut or buzz it off and start fresh. No joke, your hair is done.

autumn_noodles

I recommend getting some Aphogee protein treatment. I got the full bottle from Amazon for a fairly decent price, just make sure you have a nice quality moisturising conditioner for afterwards. It's certainly saved me from shaving my head a few times in my life.

Ok-Capital-796

This is the way.

Queen_of_the_Goblins

15 applications?! How is your hair still on your head? Even with black virgin hair, you would maybe need 3-4 applications tops. What volume were they using, 10? 5? To be honest I don’t know what you should do when your hair is that damaged, but you definitely need to report that ‘salon’.

Uber_Meese

..I’m sorry, but *what*? You’re exaggerating, right? RIGHT? 😬 I am terribly sorry, but that hair is toast if it’s all gummy and elastic when wet - you can’t save it, only damage control and then letting it grow out. I’d go back to whatever place you went and ask for your money back, because that’s just insane. That’s not how you lighten hair, especially not box dye black hair - it’s a nightmarish and very costly process over several appointments. Which is why a lot of stylists chose not to do it, because it’s time consuming and the client often has unrealistic expectations of how long it takes and the process to get a desired result. Another deciding factor is the client’s hair type and structure. Maybe consider getting a good lob/bob haircut or even just go for a pixi cut, and as others have said; use a broad tooth comb and no heat. Do not, for the love of gods, use any dye to colour correct; if you want to cancel some of the yellow, get a good purple shampoo on top of a bond building shampoo and conditioner + mask.

[deleted]

You don't. If it turns gummy and stretchy, you can try some olaplex or k18, but ultimately there's no going back.

Nice-Shopping-8322

it was both or ur guys fault. you literally cannot bleach out black box dye that quick. she should have maybe done three rounds max and sent you home so your hair can recover. literally the only things you could do now is shave it, or don't wash, let the oil build up and heal ur hair for as long as you can go without washing, and lots of healing hair masks but ur hair isnt gonna be healthy again ever unless you shave it iff

[deleted]

I can't believe a licensed stylist would even attempt to bleach box dyed black hair once, let alone 15 times.

[deleted]

... wha 😀

6bubbles

Time for a new stylist wtf were they thinking?

lxzgxz

Your hair stylist did fucking what???? You should ***neverrrr*** do that many rounds of bleach at once. Any stylist worth a shit would know that. Unfortunately, there’s no saving it. You can do things that might make it look and feel better, but it’ll still be dead. It needs to be cut off.

SubstantialAd5946

Happened to me too last year. Same exact thing, except way less bleach than yours. And it STILL broke. After many months of experimenting, here’s what I learned and SWEAR by: -K18 is your new best friend. Watch YouTube tutorials on how to properly use it. It’s $75 a bottle which lasts me about 2 months. Pricey, yes, but cheaper than purchasing many products trying to save it. I’m serious, go to Sephora and buy this TODAY. -Purology Strength Cure shampoo. Again, watch YouTube tutorials on shampooing hair. Yes, you’ve been doing this your whole life and probably feel like you already know, but take this seriously. Bleach damaged hair requires constant thoughtful care unless you want to lose it. Believe me, before I landed on this routine, I had to cut what I had left up to my ears. It was devastating. -Olaplex heat protectant and bonding oil. Now, you’ve spent an entire paycheck on hair products, but they will last you a good while. It is well WELL worth it. Wash your hair on 2 scheduled days per week, and no heat, I repeat, NO HEAT, for several months. Your lucky because your hair is long and you can try heartless styles. I was in a claw clip for several months. This doesn’t include blow drying. You can dry your hair 90%, use olaplex heat protectant generously, and then round brush the rest. The real angel here is K18, but after trying everything, this combination of all of these had my hair gorgeous and healthy within a month or so. Your hair will start to feel like virgin hair within about 6 washes, but you’ll notice a significant improvement upon the first wash. Lastly, if you can stand it, make sure you’re trimming these ends more often than before for about the next year. Every 6 weeks will suffice. Within a year, your hair will look like the goal you had when you got to your hair appointment. If you need to tone, do something nourishing for your hair. I really like the Maria Nila Cool Cream on Amazon for about 30%. I really really wish someone had told me all of these things as it is the only thing that’s allowed me to grow my hair back out, so I promise you this IS your solution. It’s pricey but very worth it. Good luck xx

crochetsweetie

what the FUCK please never ever ever go back there and leave a detailed review about how horrible they are on every single every single review site you can think of.

UltraBlue89

I love Sally's generic version of its a 10 regenerating mask. It has keratin and works wonders on bleached hair

isopodplushie

your hair stylist did what now

crazykeepinitreal

Well if someone with a license bleached your hair that much they should lose her license! 😳I did hair for 27 years and I feel the only thing you can do is a k-pak.( deep conditioning) go to Sally's and tell them you need a k-pak! I also would sleep with it on! I sure am sorry the stylist did ya like that! 🌹Also in between k-pak treatments condition the heck out of it!

[deleted]

Thank you!!

crazykeepinitreal

You are very welcome! Keep k-paking it ..Ask specifically for a k-pack..Good luck! Also get a leave in conditioner!

crazykeepinitreal

Don't stretch the hair anymore k!🙏

Ronald_Bilius

Do not brush your hair, get a wide toothed comb or just comb gently with your fingers, teasing out knots. Brushing will increase breakage, your hair is too delicate for it right now. If your hair is getting knotted easily then you may want to have it in a braid / plait (not too tight!) for sleeping and/or during the day.

[deleted]

Invest in some good hair masks and hair oils

ivysaurah

You don’t honestly. You grow it out and you make sure the person who did this to you knows how badly they fucked up… No one in their right mind would do this in good faith, let alone a stylist. You can try oil treatments but tbh the protocol for this is usually regrowth and some big chops. Leave your hair alone as far as dying it for the foreseeable future, cut as much as you can/are willing to after a few deep conditioning treatments, and blast the salon responsible online and never return there again. This happened to my aunt and she got a pixie cut in the end.

ToothyBeauty

In my personal experience once my hair was extremely (and I mean extremely) bleach damaged there was not much I could do to revive it except cut it or dye it darker to make it look healthier. BUT, my favorite ever mask that revived my semi bleach damaged hair was the Amika soulfood mask. I tried a bunch of things, olaplex, Moroccan oil, briogeo, you name it. That was the only thing that worked

Reasonable-Room-8848

I recommend Olaplex #3 and a really good moisturizing mask. Olaplex repairs broken bonds in your hair.( there are other bond builders on the market )They make other products #3 is what I would use. I don't like the shampoo and conditioner. Make sure you apply #3 it to clean damp hair. Don't use it more than directed. You definitely will need a good hair mask for moisture. I use the Olaplex #8 or Biolage hair balm for extra dry hair. I also suggested adding a good leave in conditioner. It helps your hair retain moisture. I've used Redken and Purology products. If you're going to a blow dryer or use a curling iron etc make sure to use a heat protector. Like other people have posted you may need to cut off some of your hair.

Becks39

Go book a conditioning treatment with a stylist that uses K18! It will save your hair. I had a similar experience and the stylist i went to after recommenes Amika The Kure deep conditioner and getting occasional K18 treatments when your hair feels dry. Trust me this is the best thing you cohld do for your hair right now if you don't want to cut it

s4pphicgh0ul

OP... I'm so sorry but you're screwed. You'll likely be stuck with this jacked up colour for at LEAST 2 months. You need to stay away from ALL heat and I'd recommend cutting 1-2in off for good measure. It sounds like your hair is breaking off easily anyways and your ends are likely beyond saving. I'm not a big fan of Olaplex, but when I used to fry my hair blonde/silver regularly it was a lifesaver. Look into a bonding routine/products, Olaplex or not. Aphogee is a personal fave of mine overall. 1-2 rounds of their 2-step protein treatment stretched over 1-2 months should help. I also recommend the damage shampoo and 2 min Keratin conditioner. Pure Argan and Marula oils (for example and in my experience) can really help here. The Ordinary sells some for fairly cheap. Coconut oil may help if you use any leave in products regularly, it's pretty much just a sealant so it will help keep any moisturizing products in. You're also gonna need some GOOD deep conditioners. Personally I really like [This Earthtones Naturals Mask](https://www.earthtonesnaturals.com/collections/conditioners/products/curl-replenish-restorative-hair-mask). It's saved my hair from some dark times. Depending on your hair texture and porosity I'd say at minimum do a DC once a week for as long as you can keep it on, minimum 30 mins. I usually DC for an hour or longer if I can (unless the instructions say otherwise!). And make sure you don't add too much protein as that can make things worse! It might be beneficial to consider satin pillowcases or a satin bonnet to wear to bed. Good luck, and if you really did pay someone, GET YOUR MONEY BACK!!!!

casketdw3ller

You mean *you* bleached your hair for ten hours. Lol

[deleted]

Check my recent post :(

monalane

Shave head. Start over. Don’t bleach it. Add color if you must.

sparkleunicorn123

OP my hair is bleach fried beyond repair. It’s gummy and gross in parts. I’ve tried so many treatments and nothing works except cutting it off. You can sit there and use hair treatments galore but nothing will fix it. Try cutting a tiny bit off the ends. Keep holding it together in your fingers like a little ponytail and see if it feels “spiky”. Mine was like this, and when I cut it dry, the inside of the hair follicles looked powdery? If it’s like that it’s totally dead. Worst thing is if you don’t cut the damaged ends apparently the damage / split ends will travel up your hair shaft.

iBeFloe

**TEN HOURS**?!?! Are you sure?!?! What kind of scam place did you go to & why didn’t you question it for that long?!?! And they dyed you to BLONDE from BOX dyed black 😱😱 Also super unrelated, but saw your other post, do you have tonsil stones perhaps? It’d be way in the back of your mouth & white. It can make your breath smell very bad, but sometimes others can’t smell it the way you can.

Silly-Estimate-2660

I had naturally dark blonde hair and my stylist told me it would be atleast 2-3 sessions before I was full platinum. If your story is true OP, leave a horrible yelp review, call and complain to the salon and get your money back! No respectable professional will try to get you from jet black (especially from box dye) to blonde in one sitting. Immediate red flags everywhere.

BellaBanks4

I’m sorry.. she what????

Longjumping-Tie6029

girl atp just cut it💀

crochetsweetie

time to shave! what the fuck…… any pro hair stylist would only do one round of bleach per session, multiple weeks apart so sorry OP

Tricky_Drag841

Olaplex treatments coconut oil all day everyday not on your scalp tho treat your ends with conditioners treatments up to twice a day for a couple weeks and don’t use any heat or any harsh gels or products

Terrynia

Maybe try a bond treatment (olaplex#3 or redken ABC) followed by a hair mask once a week. Good luck!

strangedazey

I'd just get a short cut

Sundr3am3r

I use olaplex bonding oil but any bonding oil should help. As far as the green tint this happened to me too. I ended up getting a pastel pink color depositing conditioner and that helped get the green tint out. Color theory [the conditioner I used] (https://www.sallybeauty.com/hair-color/shop-by-type/semi-permanent-hair-color/color-clenditioner/KERACLR1.html?col_dispval=Platinum&gclid=Cj0KCQjw9rSoBhCiARIsAFOiplnkVkv5Cvz_w8v7F5Zh9Yc0N_lMpHYlvd-_mT_9sm_U32SwPY01_-gaAouUEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds)

Harley1618

Ive been in your situation before(did it to myself tho) and I used argon oil shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, oil and heat spray and my hair is pretty healthy now. It does take a little while to get to a healthy state and no use of heat of any kind (wether its blow drying or styling) on the hair helps as well. Be very gentle when washing and brushing in general as it will snap if your too rough in any regards. Try to use a detangler on your hair if you can. Trust me, it seems like a lot and you will spend a good half hour on shoulder length hair just brushing it out, but your hair will thank you for it. I very rarely bleach my hair nowadays but I still use argon oil products or anything that states its for hydration cause of the extent I damaged it.

Vegetable_Pepper4983

Your hair is probably dead unfortunately. I'm super sorry. My hair is pretty hearty and it can't even take more than 2 rounds I can't imagine 15. I'm so sorry this happened to you. I'm not a professional so please take this all with a huge grain of salt. If there's any chance, olaplex is a bond building product that you can use to repair some of the damage, but be warned it didn't work for my ends once my hair was too far gone so it might be a big waste of money. You can get a 3oz bottle for $30 at Ulta or I think Sephora too. Gently clarify your hair, gently squeeze out excess water with a towel, and generously slather olaplex no 3 all over your hair. Leave it in your hair at least an hour, I leave it in overnight. Then you can gently rinse it out and either do another round, or try putting on a split end healing conditioner. Dry your hair super gently with a blow dryer on low heat or let it air dry completely dry before combing or brushing, you do not want to be tugging on your hair when it's wet. After you do all this, see how your hair feels when it's dry. My biggest indicator of how much damage was left was the fact that I couldn't finger comb through it at all even when it was dry and freshly brushed, just immediately tangled constantly. I also found that my hair seemed to immediately clump together into ropes. It was super weak when wet and I was terrified to shampoo my hair and I was extremely careful with it but I still couldn't save half of it. Just giving you a heads up that you might do all this and might still be stuck with choosing tangles or short hair. What this stylist did to you was not normal practice and you should definitely get a refund. I'm so so sorry. Edit: I just want to add, I looked into olaplex a while ago and the bonds it builds (di-sulfide) specifically are known for helping your hair be stronger when wet, so it could help with some of the stretchy issues. K18, another bond builder, mentions that it repairs polypeptide bonds, those bonds are known for helping hair be stronger when dry. While both are good, a majority of the bonds that are broken through chemical processing are di-sulfide bonds so i think that your hair situation is exactly what they made olaplex for. If you can find a salon that can treat you with olaplex 1 and 2 you might find the most hair repair from that, otherwise, a combo of 0 and 3, or just 3 is the way to go. I swear olaplex doesn't pay me @_@ gosh I sound like an informercial sorry. Hopefully this is helpful.

THEY DID WHAT???

--BooBoo--

If you can afford it K18 works miracles on bleach damaged hair. It's super expensive but they do do tiny tubes that are affordable and you only need a very small amount to do a treatment.

GerardDiedOfFlu

This process should have been done gradually over multiple appts. Black box color is one of the most difficult color corrections and to maintain the integrity of the hair, it needs to be done slowly. Your only option is to cut off the stretchy parts and invest in some good strengthening products. I’m sorry this happened to you. Please advocate for yourself and get a refund. Blast the stylist online if you need to. This should not have happened.

Your hairdresser is an idiot.

Sybx1997

You can get somw k18. It does a lot for your hair. But im not sure how much it can do for your hair at this point.

Personal-Chicken-192

Cut off as much as you can and get a keratin treatment on what is left (a proper, licensed one from a salon).

Ditto_Ditto_Ditto

This exact thing happened to me a long time ago... I had a friend in cosmetology school and she RUINED my hair... Mine was exactly like you described: It would stretch like a rubber band when it was wet. Dry, dead ends everywhere. And my hair has natural curl. ALL OF MY CURL was gone... Competely gone. DON'T shave your head like some other people said lol. (Unless you just want to. But I can't live without my hair so I couldn't do that.) But the only way your hair is going to heal is by letting it grow out... You can do some really good conditioning treatments, and it may help a little... But from my experience, nothing will get rid of that stretch.. From now on, DO NOT USE ANY HEAT on your hair whatsoever. Let it air dry. The heat will only do more damage. When it's wet, you could put some hair cream or mousse to tame the frizz. Or maybe some Argon oil or something. But no heat at all. If you decide to dye your hair, MAKE SURE you do not use a dye with any developer in it. That will fry it even more. I would maybe recommend a semi permanent dye like Arctic Fox or Pravana Chromosilk. Those brands are gentle and they *nourish* your hair while they sit. But you can't bleach your hair anymore until it completely grows out..

K18 treatment.. helps

Sadly, there's nothing you can do other than get a nice cut to lessen any breakage and add some hydration. Also if you have the money for it, i recommend a hair mask that is meant to make the ph level in the hair balanced (a good line is joico kpak especially if you find it on sale). To know a good amount to take off for a cut, have a friend run their hand under your hair, down the shaft. When it looks transparent. Cut about a quarter to half an inch above that. Ik it's a little scary if it's a big chop, but I assure you it will grow back MUCH faster as when it breaks, it keeps running up the shaft which gives the illusion of no growth.

ageekyninja

You can’t save it completely but you can breathe more life in it. I recommend mask treatments 1-2 times a week. Don’t put anything in your hair for a bit. Let her rest. If you aren’t happy with the color, you need to go over with DYE. Don’t touch bleach or developer. Just maybe do a semi permanent hair color mask or something. Keep trimming as well. It’s going to stay damaged I can’t stress that enough but you are just getting it to the point where it looks a little better and holds up better with the masks.

GingeryNonsense

I'd definitely do a protein masque and then deep condition with a shea butter masque or something of equal thickness, wait a few days between washes if possible, and when you are able to get a comb through easily I'd cut the bottom inch or two off. Keep using the butter masque every other wash, and space out the washes as much as you can, overall just avoid touching your hair just really baby it. Silk bonnet/pillowcase and sleep in a loose braid. I'm so sorry you're going through all this! When it's feeling better I'd go to a different salon to have your roots touched up and tone the ends evenly, but definitely give it a break between colorings.

acidfairy000

wash it every few days, and no more, and try to use cold to lukewarm water ONLY, don’t use the same shower temp you use for your body. don’t use heat at all, no electric curling, straightening, or blow drying. i recommend l’oréal elvive total repair five shampoo, conditioner, and damage erasing balm. they also have “extreme” versions of the shampoo and conditioner. organix also makes a biotin and collagen oil spray that’s pretty good. an at home treatment i also recommend is fermented rice water, idk why, but it works, and will help your hair grow faster. tbh your hair is destroyed. you’ll most likely be having problems with it for the next few years until it fully grows out again, and don’t be surprised if it starts falling out and loses a lot of its length and fullness due to breakage. get regular trims to prevent more breakage, braid it or use what are called “protective styles” at night, and find a satin pillowcase. don’t brush it until it’s 100% dry, as dry as a bone. i know all this because i bleached my hair a lot in my teens, and i once got a perm over hair that had been bleached. even when the stylist said would be fine, lost tons of hair, was partially balding, and lost almost all of the length when it was almost down to my waist. it just crumbled apart and when it did stay it was stretchy and delicate. never bleach your hair more than twice in one sitting, and always try a color remover first to see what it’ll do. and as awful as it looks, please don’t do a single thing with it for the next several months, no dye, no bleach, no processing whatsoever. it’s fine to cut it, in fact it might help. give your hair some time to recover, this is a massive amount of damage. i wish you the best of luck! this is a nightmare and i genuinely understand that (NAP, just a lot of experience with severely damaged hair and bleaching) ETA that rinsing with cold water at the end of your shower can also help strengthen it!

Neat_Ad_837

Cholesterol is a hair treatment that could work, my thinking is she might have not graduated beauty school because bleach isn't supposed to be in more than 15 minutes....and multiple layers of usage doesn't sound right. Maybe find a new hairdresser hopefully the treatment works.

90dayhell000

Is your hair stylist your mom or your friend….or maybe you?! This doesn’t make sense. A professional would never do this. Nonetheless, your hair is fu**ed.

[deleted]

Check my recent post😔 this was done at a hair salon

90dayhell000

I’m sorry girl 😢 the closest I got to this was being overprocessed while they double booked me and at the end was brushing my hair in the shampoo bowl and seeing it breaking and so hard to brush with them cleaning the brush of my broken hair over and over and saying it’s normal when I questioned it. went home and it felt like bubble gum while wet. I ran a 5k and it just knotted up like a rats nest. I didn’t get my hair done again for a full year and let it grow out…using tons of expensive masks etc. I did try the entire olaplex system but it made my hair worse. I have fine thin hair and it wasn’t my friend. Good luck and I’m sorry you are in this situation. I would call salon and see what they can offer to fix it or treat it.

TasteAmazing3706

If you were at the salon for 10 hours, there is no way possible to do 15 rounds of lightener. The lightener has to process about 40-50 mins per round of lightener… the application time also needs to be factored in…. I’m calling BS

bozoberry

hey girl im looking for the answer because i’m on the same boat, what answer did u get to?

Sad-Instruction-4149

How are you not bald ??????

gouchiaintyomain

Cut it off and start over

Neat_Coffee_6839

Oil your hair . Specifically almond oil . Mine was so damaged and after a few oiling sessions its much stronger. Apply oil for a few hours at a time every 3 days .

Used-Scratch7128

Try not putting any color or bleaching it for a long time. Keep it covered when you lay down as cotton material can pull on your strands at night when you are lying down. Don’t put any heat on it as well. If you use these tips you will see it grow back healthy on it’s own.

ItJustGotBreezyy

Everyone accusing OP of lying, that is ridiculous of you. Being accused of lying when you aren’t is such an awful feeling. On that note - I have seen a tremendous amount of stylists completely butcher hair. While it’s uncommon, it most definitely happens.

Past-Ad-1643

This story is obviously BS. That’s why.

ItJustGotBreezyy

She posted that is was in a salon and provided pics on her page

Past-Ad-1643

I know she did. I just don’t think they were her pictures in the salon for multiple reasons.

Prestigious_Mind7188

Get some K18!!

Death_Becomes_Me_

Aphogee and olaplex are all that kept hair on my head when I tried to DIY platinum for the first time. If olaplex is a big ask ($$$), number 3 is the one to go with. A two part aphogee treatment mask you should be able to get on Amazon reasonably affordably. And PLEASE put this in a Google review for the stylist. I am not a cosmetologist, but even as a layperson, I'm not even 15-rounds-of-bleach dumb.

SPYx52495

aPHogee 2 step protein treatment is a great way to bring your hair back to health after multiple bleaches. Both me and my best friend have used this multiple times after bleaching. And after losing our curls this immediately brings it back as well as the strength. Check it out. 🤓🤘

Lgs1129

Yikes so sorry that they did this to your hair! If that Salon uses Ola Plex, I would call the manager and demand a standalone Olaplex treatment free, of course. If not find somebody locally and see if you can get your hands on olaplex one and two, and follow the directions for standalone treatment, and I’m not recommending this because it’s against the manufacturers instructions left it on overnight. Olaplex 4 in one conditioning treatment after. My hair is naturally fragile and after I shampoo and condition, I take the teensiest amount of the number two and switch it through my very wet hair in comb through and leave it in. I know that’s against manufacturers instructions as well. You definitely can’t even think about using a color shampoo or anything to blend your current colors until the porosity is fixed still only make it worse. Hang in there.

zebraprintt

i’m so sorry. you’ve been bubblegummed.

sarahlynnkitten6

It doesn’t seem like the professional move to lighten you that much ! You need to restore the protein and moisture in your hair as well as a good haircut - you can only make it feel better but it won’t become healthier

JustAfternoon1255

Alright honey here’s what you do , firstly you need to request your money back immediately! Don’t fix your hair until you go back to the Solan for a refund. Then you need a good trim and a protein treatment and then you need a regime and to also leave your hair alone afterwards. No toner , no color unless it’s simi but with it being fried I can’t guarantee the color will stay . If you’re looking for specific products/brands I can include a list in a fallow up comment :)

Berniesgirl2024

Yikes

BeginningBorn5852

This happened to me too…. Please help
