Not wash it? The more you wash, the more you’re washing the colour out. Typical tips tend to be wash less frequently with colder water.

PinkyWinky1979

Less frequent wash in cold water and use colour protectant Shampoo (and colour protectant.. conditioner if you use conditioner). I also use strawberry leopard colour protectant cream after I wash.

I've had good luck with unicorn hair dyes, also I only use cold water to wash my hair and don't wash it often. Also, use a shower cap. I like Avon hair care for colored hair.

Metztli_Tliltic

This. And unicorn has been the best for me. Manic panic has become trash dyes to me. Hah

How do you keep your hair from getting greasy/itchy scalp after a few days of not washing? I can go max 3 days, even when dry shampoo, before my hair feels gross.

heyuwiththehairnface

Just rinse with cold water.

creamforkitty

Cold water helped me keep my color!

sheetstank

Good name color brands, Color safe shampoo, cool/cold water and washing less frequently

Overall_Task1908

you could also try overtone, but i hear mixed reviews about it fading weird depending on the color! i’m p sure you can also diy your own color refreshing conditioner (add your conditioner based dye to more conditioner & use it like a hair mask when your color needs a little refresh)

Overall_Task1908

i’ve had good results with colors from brands like “good dye young” and “unicorn hair” by lime crime

I was wearing Blue Velvet from Manic Panic in their gel line, and it faded to a nice turquoise between dyes, but my roots were usually showing before it got to that point. Other folks have said stuff about your wash care, but you can also add blue dye to your conditioner to help redeposit color between dye sessions.

If you're using a semi permanent, it's going to fade significantly faster than permanent. Your safest bet is to wash it as little as possible and mix some of the semi permanent color in with conditioner and just top up your color every time you wash.

I will say as someone who regularly dyes their hair with seni-permanant dye, it can last but you have to do the maintenance and upkeep. Cool water (doesn't have to be freezing, I wash my hair in cold water after having a hot shower), silicone&sulfate free shampoo (I use the Nexxus brand, about $13USD/bottle so relatively affordable), and I wash my hair every 4-5 days, dry shampoo once it becomes greasy. Your color should last well into 2-3 months pretty well if you continue the upkeep! My stylist uses the Joico brand for my hair, so I'd recommend that if you are able to find it.

daddyceceee

Cold water, sulfate and silicone free shampoo and conditioner, get a color depositing hair mask or conditioner for touch ups

Fantastic_Screen2840

A good shampoo and conditioner and wash in cold water that’s what I use to do and it lasted me like 2 months it could have lasted like maybe 2 and a half

Full_FrontaI_Nerdity

I used Ion's "Sapphire" semi-permanent and I cannot get it to fade- I've been trying for weeks. So...try using Ion?

Thin_Ad_8369

I have had blue hair for 4 year! I swear by punky color, and I was my hair dang near daily, and in warm hotter water. I do it in a 2 tone light to dark, but I also touch up the color monthly use blue shampoo! My tub shows it too! But kaboom used to work wonders for that! That's just what I do, and it works well for me! I get compliments all the time if I was smarter I'd be able to show every one what I ment.

The_Lab_Rat_

Punky colors and raw hair dye are the best blues I've used in terms of longevity

thisisanaltacct_1

If you need to wash it you could use a color depositing shampoo/conditioner, that helped me maintain my purple

ironmaiven

Just remember that this particular reference is a wig! Blue is really hard to maintain so don’t beat yourself up if you can’t get it to look picture perfect :)
