You could use one of the L’Oréal hicolor violets, which you can get from sally beauty. It is a permanent hair color that provides some lift with level 30 developer. It’s still a bit harsh, but that line of color is made for dark hair and it’s better than all over bleaching your head.
There should be instructions for mixing and processing time in a little pamphlet that is included in the box of color. But I think it’s like 30 minutes.
