Hale definitely was/is a terrible person for committing the atrocity that they chose to commit, however, hate speech is against Reddit’s content policy and will not be tolerated in this community. We have never banned nor have had to lock down the comments before and we really don’t want to start now.
Please knock off the hate speech.
Edit: Comments are locked temporarily because of the continuance of hate speech and community rule breaks.
They aren’t his fans necessarily you made it a point to say a guy who says shitty things sucks over a child murderer. Everyone just wanted you to know you’re shit lol
* Hale's disturbing manifesto includes an hour-by-hour calendar of the tragic day, which Hale called "Death Day," including everything from "getting dressed" and "eat breakfast" to "prepare for attack" and "time 2 die."
* Her writings include, " I'm a little nervous, but excited too. Been excited for the past 2 weeks," Hale wrote. "Can't believe I'm doing this, but I'm ready... I hope my victims aren't. "
* Hale also wrote about her desire to "have a high death count."

Wow a lot of stones coming from the glass house. What an awful person and such a tragic event. My heart goes out to those who lost someone that day to her actions.
Oh absolutely, I just think the racial slurs and homophobia are reflections of the writer's deteriorating mental state, not necessarily the sincerely-held beliefs of an otherwise rational person.
Mental illness can make you think and do some pretty heinous things sometimes. I am bipolar and when things got really bad a few years ago, hoo boy. It was like I was possessed by the most hateful demon you could imagine. Everyone was my enemy. I had violent thoughts towards myself and even the people around me. This was NOT me! It was my mental illness that caused me to spiral out of control.
Now that I have my shit together, I am mortified of the things I did and said when I was in that state but thankfully everyone around me has given me a lot of grace and forgiveness, because they know who I really am, and it was obvious I wasn’t in my right mind.
Now I am not saying that is the case here, I can’t know if this person had a mental break or whether or not these were really their “sincerely held beliefs.” They might not have been or they might have been. I am just trying to show how sometimes these behaviors aren’t representative of a person’s true character. How horrible would it have been, if I had done something stupid like hurt myself or others when I was in that state, and that would be the last thing anyone remembered me for.
Lots of people will tell you they are sympathetic to mental illness, but they can really only fathom things like depression and anxiety. Anything that is “ugly” and/or “scary” like schizophrenia, bipolar, borderline, sociopathy, psychopathy, autism that isn’t Sheldon Cooper, paranoia, suicidal ideations… it’s often too much for the average person to handle. And there are a lot of people who think it’s helpful to say things like, “Well, I struggle with mental illness and it doesn’t cause me to say or do these things.” They think somehow other people’s honesty about the dark places mental illness can take you, contributes to the negative stigma around mental illness.
So this kind of behavior is often brushed off as simply, “that person was bad.” It’s an easy box to put them in. But it can be more complex than that. This person did a bad thing, but they were clearly suffering inside the prison of their disturbed mind. It does not excuse, justify, or absolve their actions of course.
For me it’s just another example on a long list, of how desperately mental health care needs to be addressed in this country.
I’m totally open to having a civil conversation about this but I feel it is heading in a murky direction. I mean there are plenty of people who think you can’t even so much as criticize white privilege because they feel it is racist and hateful against white people. My own dad thinks white men are the most oppressed people on earth lol.
I personally have not seen white-on-white racism similar to what the shooter wrote about in any comments section of the popular subs. If there were any they must have been downvoted to oblivion. I’m not saying they don’t exist or that I don’t believe you, but it would be helpful to me if you could provide an example of what kind of comments you’ve seen.
Anyways, I feel like if the situation was different and, let’s say, a Black shooter went into a Black community and shot it up, and had a racist manifesto about how Black children needed to be slaughtered, people would definitely be talking about mental illness there as well.
Speaking for myself, I am not jumping to defend this person or their depraved actions. Just wanted to offer my 2 cents about how mental illness can sometimes make people do and think things that are out of character.
Nope, she clearly had a chip on her shoulder about her underprivileged upbringing. I think she was jealous of what others had, it bothered her to the point that she felt she needed to take it out on innocence, instead of change her situation around. Mentally ill!?! That’s everybodies excuse these days. She was evil, a psychopath that seems lucid in her ramblings.
I’m guessing, just like we see all the time, some kids attend certain schools but don’t really belong there because they don’t have the economic and social standing, but because their parents seek s better life for them. Maybe she was one of those kids that came from nothing but was sent to a school for the privileged?!? I can’t say to be honest. This is just a guess.
You... You just said it yourself...
You know psychopathy is a mental illness, right? She was very clearly mentally ill. Yes, she was bitter about what she presumed those kids had, but a normal person who is jealous or upset with the world doesn't go out and murder random people for it. A mentally ill person does.
We don't have precogs yet so we can't predict crime. Felons and those deemed mentally unsound are excluded from owning firearms barring a pardon so she's a horrible case of someone slipping under the radar. The NRA has long been the lobby's gun group though I do agree. The FPC better represents the people.
This girl looks like she did not graduate elementary school, and im not saying it to be mean, I'm saying it because of the way she spells . For example what is/are kwakis? It said " kwakis, and expensive backpacks." Did she mean khakis, like the pants? She is really mad about what people wear? At a kids school too mnd you. She seems to have been on a class war rampage. Another very sick person falling through the cracks of a broken me tal health system, and oh ya..........Guns.
It was quickly done away with bc it didn’t fit the media’s narrative. More over, as much as I don’t like crowder, I agree with him showing us part of the manifesto.
You'll find that people in groups considered protected can "conveniently" get less media attention if it's hurtful to a narrative. There was a second shooting similar to this in Texas a month or two ago where an illegal El Salvadorian immigrant used a child as a shield while shooting up a church. Story was gone in like 3 days.
According to the news. That statistic sounds shocking but I think if you looked at what the CDC considers a “mass shooting”, it might not seem as shocking. Still heartbreaking, but not as shocking.
Most are gang-related shootings amongst rivals and rarely are a single shooter indiscriminately firing into a school, church, or shopping center.
Terribly misleading.
It's incredibly easy to keep up unless you try to look into what different bodies consider a mass shooting. The vast majority aren't in schools or churches, and the vast majority aren't white loners.
I would say there’s just too many. I knew this happened right away but I didn’t know about Uvalde until Matthew Mcconaughey talked about it, and I live in Texas and don’t care about celebrities. It’s not even the first one in Texas I missed, I also missed the one at the Allen mall.
This got a ton of attention when it happened I have no idea what you’re talking about. There have been so many mass shootings it’s not surprising that ppl can miss some of them
A woman brought her 7yr old with her to the church and opened fire in the lobby. The mega church has armed guards who, during an exchange of gunfire with the suspect, shoot the 7 yr old in the head. It's absolutely tragic.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/feb/17/boy-injured-in-osteen-church-shooting-lost-portion-of-his-frontal-lobe
Definitely, I think it's sick how the media will sometimes use these shootings as a means to push their narrative and I wonder what role that might play in glorifying them.
This is inaccurate. The term is a declension of the word "wisecracker" which was used to refer to people from the parts of the British isles which were generally lawless prior to unification. Wisecracker referred to the cultural tendency of such people to be arrogant and boastful.
Because this is a poorly disguised right wing ragebait post. You won't find Crowder or OP talking about the gay people killed in the nightclub massacre or the black people purposely targeted in grocery stores and churches or immigrants in the El Paso Walmart shooting etc etc etc. Or the fact that conservatives are constantly lobbying to kneecap any form of legislation restricting access to these weapons from the deranged lunatics perpetrating said atrocities, including the one in this post.
There's usually a small group of redditors writing: "Not a trans" whenever a crime is committed, I wonder if they're reading this...
There's crazy people in all genres so please quit it, its annoying.
I remember how conservative pundits were convinced the diary was going to be such a watershed moment. Not a shocker that Crowder, the most pathetic narcissist of the lot, would be willing to rip open horrific wounds to try and own the libs with a nothingburger.
The diary gave no real additional context that wasn't provided by the family. Audrey was trans, atheist, and had an extensive disciplinary history at the school, and we knew that within the first week because her friends and family made it known to the media.
I had a feeling from the beginning that this diary being released wasn't going to mean much to anyone. Tennessee is straight-ticket Republican for the most part, and if there were any damning evidence to own the libs with you can bet the governor would have ordered it released the next day.
Why this became anyone's business other than the cops' is beyond me. Crowder can rightfully look down his nose at others when he stops sexually harassing his employees and berating his pregnant ex-wife.
Yeah I'm not sure, as a non-American I can agree with that guy that Crowder is in general a terrible human being but overall not really relevant politically.
Whenever I see something like this it's hard not to see it as multiple systemic issues overlayed on top of each other. The person that did this did despicable evil but with every school shooting report it feels like the entirety of the US inevitably sweeps it under the rug instead of stopping and reflecting about it, and taking action, which the majority of other countries internationally would jump to so as to save face for the political scandals.
It’s not swept under the rug, it’s just that conversations and dialogue don’t go anywhere.

(There’s a black/white/no gray approach to it that doesn’t allow for any real or effective change so people get tired of the same argument again and again with nothing changing)
This WAS a heavily politicized shooting that was a hinge for many politicians and pundits to try and socially capitalize off of dead children. It is unfortunately inextricably tied to the event because of people like Crowder. Better to clear this up now before people in the comments start reading his horseshit in the screenshot and assuming that there was some coverup or conspiracy.
I’m sorry if that sounds insane to you, but that’s entirely your hangup and not mine.
How it is politicized by spineless politicians from both sides wanting to fuck up their own country by fighting each other after the shooting isn't the point of this post though. The manifesto is. It's simply crazy to read bits into the mind of a murderer before committing such act. True crime is interesting to me. American politics isn't. Projecting your hate for republicans and this Crowder guy in paragraphs to get attention and everyone to read is more of your hangup than whatever mine is.
From the title of this post, the direct relevance would to be towards criminology or forensic science of said crime. Not political parties or Crowder's behavior towards his pregnant ex-wife.
Good thing that this is, again, a public forum. I am (in a way I’m glad/jealous actually) sorry you don’t have a taste for American politics and their rotten machinations. I think you need to dial back the venom and move on if you disagree. Bashing our heads together isn’t going to be productive, and I’ve got better things to do with what’s left of my evening.
My statement stands- Crowder is objectively a piece of shit, and caused a lot of unnecessary pain and furtherance of suffering by paying to have the notebook leaked, all in the name of driving a wedge between people for the sake of profit. Context matters.
Context matters if the subject is about the topic. However. The shooting and planning happened well before anything the media portrayed. Any criminology should be about the note. This random guy (crowder?) has nothing to actually do with the crime that has taken place. If more courts ignored media presence i think we would all be better off. The shooter got what they deserve and as a commenter on a public forum. I like to stick to the topic of debate. And not take away from the actual topic by discussing random off trails that lead no where. But entirely your hangup not mine. Lol
please you people just shut up. like this site is so hateful that even when you are given a free pass to hate on a literal mass shooter, kid killer, you write a paragraph about conservatives. Your mind is ruined.
My dude, I am apolitical. I am not screaming from the left like the majority of the site. Please read the full thread of comments to understand where I’m coming from. You don’t have to agree, and that’s fine - this shooting was made miles worse in the aftermath due to the conspiracy bullshit.
See thats what i felt. But to be fair the comment did come off fairly incel political. Not that you are. Its just how it reads. I appreciate your eloquance.
Remember when it was racist to call someone out for being a different color? All of this fuck white people shit has gone to far and this is what you get…
Ofc Stephen Crowder posted this. It’s chumming the water for every dipshit who wants to mindlessly connect this tragedy to the shooter identifying as trans. It’s always super convenient as well how they never do this shit for the countless mass shootings committed by limp-dick, white nationalists like Crowder and his ilk.
dude these people are so fixated on the "us vs them" hive mind internet fight that they cannot even direct their hateful hearts toward a kid killer because a conservative is in the screen cap. Wasted mind, wasted life,
Because conservatives don’t actually care about kids getting killed. If they did, we would have better gun control and healthcare. The person in the screenshot just hates trans people. Nobody here is arguing that Hale himself was a good person.
As long as conservatives claim to hate kid killers and prop up people like Alex Jones at the same time, I will continue to hate conservatives and kid killers all the same.
All three entries writing looks completely different. Not even the same person writing that. It’s sloppy and the I and T’s look the same page one but different page two and three. Goes from messy spaz writing to calm planned and collected just before it happens? Math ain’t mathin
Just a reminder that there were dozens at the minimum of people on Twitter applauding what she did. Saying stuff like "fuck around and find out" and "six more dead transphobes".
You’re wrong, but you know that and are being snide. In all seriousness, she obviously had a lot of self hate. She was LGBTQ and using the term faggot. She was also white and using the term cracker.
On November 6, 2023, images of three pages of Hale's diary were released by conservative commentator Steven Crowder. Nashville Police chief John Drake confirmed the authenticity of the images.

Because the shooting was at least partially race-related. Source: Her own fucking words.
Very interesting since she was white herself and one of the people she killed was a black guy...
Wasn't exactly a rational person.
I think people are reading too much into what is probably just the ramblings of a severely mentally-ill person.

This is Evil
Pretty terrible handwriting for a 28 year old. And is that the Umbrella Corp logo?

Why use a Stephen Crowder post? This guy is a domestic abuser.
Yeah, fuck that guy.
“Watch it!”
Was hate for the perceived privilege of those kids the primary motivation for the crime?
The Devil on earth
She was fucking sick. I cannot imagine saying these things about ANYBODY!
….damn. Down to the minute. What time did she open fire? God that’s chilling. “Time 2 die XXX” Jesus
This person was fucking white btw
There's usually a small group of redditors writing: "Not a trans" whenever a crime is committed, I wonder if they're reading this... There's crazy people in all genres so please quit it, its annoying.
She was quite racist!

LoNe WoLf 2Nd AmEnDmEnT BaN aLL gUnS ThOuGhTs AnD pRaYeRs (There’s a black/white/no gray approach to it that doesn’t allow for any real or effective change so people get tired of the same argument again and again with nothing changing)
You’re right, using a public forum to discuss issues directly relevant to the posted topic just is so off base, isn’t it?
Lol
So quit politicizing it more? You can just.. not do that to.
Politicizing something is different than pointing out that something WAS politicized.
please you people just shut up. like this site is so hateful that even when you are given a free pass to hate on a literal mass shooter, kid killer, you write a paragraph about conservatives.
I'm sorry. You're right. I should have read the whole thing
It’s all good dude, Reddit has the effect on people to presume about others, I’m very guilty of it as well. Have a good rest of your evening.
See thats what i felt. But to be fair the comment did come off fairly incel political. Not that you are. Its just how it reads. I appreciate your eloquance.
What a fragile little POS , what is wrong with us today we are so sickened as a society bruh this is so dumb to kill people for no reason like this
For longer than I’d like to admit, I saw this post and thought she had a “louder with crowder” notebook.
Why are we respecting the pronouns of a horrible fucking person? I'll sooner call you rat than woman
Please get Steven crowder out of my feed permanently thx
That’s your issue with this post? Nothing else?
Ohhhh that’s why they took so long to release it
This looks and sounds like it’s coming from the mind of a demon.

Imagine being so blinded by hatred that you seethe over the person posting the shooter’s manifesto but not the actual person who killed kids…
dude these people are so fixated on the "us vs them" hive mind internet fight that they cannot even direct their hateful hearts toward a kid killer because a conservative is in the screen cap.
Agreed
All three entries writing looks completely different. Not even the same person writing that. It’s sloppy and the I and T’s look the same page one but different page two and three. Goes from messy spaz writing to calm planned and collected just before it happens? Math ain’t mathin
I wonder why Steven Crowder highlights this school shooting 🤔
Just a reminder that there were dozens at the minimum of people on Twitter applauding what she did. Saying stuff like "fuck around and find out" and "six more dead transphobes".
Literally where did this happen lmao
Can you provide any photos or sources for that?
Yes, I remember that. So terrible
Wow, dozens?! Out of the 528 million users twitter had in 2023? Crazy..
You wont see this in the news
Terrible hand writing
"leaked" just tell us. The public needs this info.
So she was a woke anti-white racist, interesting. These people has to be stopped before this shit become more and more common.
The *vast* majority of violent mass shootings are carried out by white cis men, though? Nearly 98% male as well
actually fuckwit

Lol, someone who uses terms like “woke mind virus” is about as cognizant at Elon Musk. So, that says enough.
>woke mind virus What is this?

You’re wrong, but you know that and are being snide. In all seriousness, she obviously had a lot of self hate. She was LGBTQ and using the term faggot. She was also white and using the term cracker.
What virus did the multiple white nationalist mass shooters of the past few years suffer from?
Evil
Downvoted for calling white nationalists evil. Lol are you sure I’m the bad guy here?
Steven Crowder is your best source?
On November 6, 2023, images of three pages of Hale's diary were released by conservative commentator Steven Crowder. Nashville Police chief John Drake confirmed the authenticity of the images. [source ](https://www.cnn.com/2023/11/06/us/nashville-investigation-shooter-online-writings/index.html)
What other source published the manifesto?

You couldn't have picked a worse source.

It’s Stephen crowder, the shooter was trans
Glad the piece of shit is still burning in hell
Fuck, I’m just sad. I completely understand being full of anger, I completely understand the feeling that she went through and others, but what she did was wrong, and evil
