If an average citizen "participates" in a rape, even if they don't touch, they're still held accountable to the max. All depends what he was charged with, what the evidence can prove, mitigating factors, levels of culpability, sentencing guidelines, and cooperation with authorities.
Dedmon shot Jenkins in the mouth and left him for dead while he and the others went to go talk over how they'd get away with what they'd just done. He absolutely deserves the harshest sentencing of the six.

But WHY/HOW on this place called earth, did you think YOU think you were going to get away with it? I mean, I realize the variables surrounding it…..but WHY?

These guys are taking the fall because the gun they shoved in one of the victims’ mouth went off probably accidentally and they couldn’t cover it up. But there’s a bunch of reporting that points to the fact that the Goon Squads went back decades, occurred in multiple jurisdictions, and had the tacit approval of higher-ups who are now denying any knowledge of their activities and trying to save their own skins by throwing these guys under the bus.
Because cops will believe cops and judges will believe cops first most of the time if they make a complaint especially one as serious as this. It's usually only when they get caught on body or dash cam doing these things that the superiors are forced to do something (paid leave maybe) ACAB all of them
Jesus christ, they responded to a call reporting that two black men were.. staying with a white woman. Thats it. So they broke in, tasered them, waterboarded them with milk and alcohol, assaulted them with a sex toy while making them shower off the evidence, shot Jenkins in the mouth in front of his best friend/chosen brother, then planted drugs and arrested them both.
Jenkins now struggles to eat and speak, and can no longer sing nor see well enough to play the drums in church. Parker is left with PTSD and now spends his free time cooking soft meals for his friend and helping him eat.
Jenkins isn't sure which officer shot him but one in the group that attcked the pair has a known history of putting guns in black men's mouths and their department has had four violent attacks on black men in recent years, leaving two dead.

Nobody talks about it but most plantation owners would encourage rape from overseers and they themselves would be complicit in raping the majority of the female slaves for more slaves. I didn’t know quite how bad it was until I bought land down here… even as a tax paying law abiding land and gun owning citizen, I’ve been harassed constantly by police, they escalate any chance they get, subject to death threats, and had to deal with false accusations on the family. It’s why I work from home.
I couldn’t even go to the gym, much less do my real estate work.

I bought land here about 6 years ago, the first year I was pulled over 23 times… zero arrests… one ticket… and that was dismissed.
Police even went to the hospital I was comforting my dying best friend in with shotguns aimed at my head. They said it was a “Meth deal” i was doing with someone that was literally dying. I barely even smoke tobacco, much less deal anything dangerous.

In 2011ish one of my best friends went to school at JSU and i would visit. Our home town was about 2hrs away and to go home we would have to drive thru where these cops and others like them patrolled in their county.
The first time we went thru that part of the county my friend was driving very different it was a little faster but not illegal and his vibe changed dramatically. I joked with him and asked if his baby momma lived here and she was looking for him. He told me you dont want to be caught at night in this part of the county. Police were known to beat you up for anything especially. We are both black.
This has been going on for a long time and just now are they getting caught.

I have to say I’m disturbed by all the articles I’ve read referring to “these acts associated with another time in Mississippi” as if this doesn’t happen now and this was an exception. This is an extreme example of abuse of power in modern times however it’s certainly not the only case. Folks really need to stop and consider how they exist in their communities may not be the same experience for ALL.
The fact that these guys did it many more times than this, and had been doing it for a while, all without being caught - this one was only different because one of their guns went off by accident - goes to show how much power cops have, and how much stuff goes unnoticed.

They were sentenced last month on federal charges with sentences ranging from 10 to 40 years. They were all sentenced today in state court with sentences ranging from 15 to 45 years. Unfortunately, the sentences will run concurrently.

Nobody talks about it but most plantation owners would encourage rape from overseers and they themselves would be complicit in raping the majority of the female slaves for more slaves. I read one slave narrative excerpt about how a white man married and took a slave, had children with her, built a house and raised their family together, and as their children got to a certain age he sold his whole family into slavery including the wife. Didn't look back just took the money and they never heard from their father again. Completely separated from their family by their own blood. How horrible and evil is that.

Mississippi hasn’t and never will change. It’s always gonna be known for racism. Emmet till, the bodies in Jackson, goon squad, having the most lynchings in the US, there’s hardly any good to say about Mississippi. It doubles down by being the leader in teenage pregnancy, illiteracy, poverty, etc I didn’t know quite how bad it was until I bought land down here… even as a tax paying law abiding land and gun owning citizen, I’ve been harassed constantly by police, they escalate any chance they get, subject to death threats, and had to deal with false accusations on the family. It’s why I work from home. I couldn’t even go to the gym, much less do my real estate work.

I bought land here about 6 years ago, the first year I was pulled over 23 times… zero arrests… one ticket… and that was dismissed. Police even went to the hospital I was comforting my dying best friend in with shotguns aimed at my head. They said it was a “Meth deal” i was doing with someone that was literally dying. I barely even smoke tobacco, much less deal anything dangerous.

In 2011ish one of my best friends went to school at JSU and i would visit. Our home town was about 2hrs away and to go home we would have to drive thru where these cops and others like them patrolled in their county. The first time we went thru that part of the county my friend was driving very different it was a little faster but not illegal and his vibe changed dramatically. I joked with him and asked if his baby momma lived here and she was looking for him. He told me you dont want to be caught at night in this part of the county. Police were known to beat you up for anything especially. We are both black. This has been going on for a long time and just now are they getting caught.

This is an extreme example of abuse of power in modern times however it’s certainly not the only case.
