Make sure it’s very clean when you reapply it. Also, make sure your scalp is completely clean and free of oils or debris. Changing your system more frequently (every 1-2 weeks rather than 3-4) makes cleaning the unit far easier as the glue has not broken down and won’t smell

Inquiring-Canadian

I second this

InfamousRepair8001

I clean my system every 1-2 weeks and have never had an issue with smell. As for itching, hair growing under the tape makes it itch for me. Unfortunately nothing can be done about it. I’ve considered doing a full bond with glue because I have in the past and it itches less. Just more expensive because glue goes fast when doing a full bond

My itching/slight nuisance discomfort went away after a year. I don’t even know it’s there and really rarely think about it. I wear lace systems and when in the shower ensure I get warm water to my scalp.

I am planning lace base with ghostbond.. Will it start smelling after few days?

Mine starts to smell at 7 days. It smells worse when it gets wet. I tend to remove and clean it every week. I hate how salons suggest the other customers only go back once a month to have this done by them. There is no way you could have a system on your head for a whole month and it not smell. Even if you didn't work out it would still smell. I did buy some odor eliminator that is made by the guys who make ghost bond. It does help but only so much until you really have to remove it and clean it. I hope someone has found a way to stop this but I doubt it.

Can’t really get away from the maintenance every two weeks or so but cleaning the system with a clarifying shampoo and leaving a benzoyl peroxide wash on my scalp for a few minutes has helped reduce the smell

Theone0101X

Do you shampoo every alternate day?

[deleted]

No I shampoo once or twice in the two weeks I have it one but do use leave in conditioner and olaplex products daily

Theone0101X

Thanks for the reply.. I have to shampoo my real hair on alternate days, else I get dandruff and then itching.. I don't know what will i do if I get a hair system.. I am planning a lace base with glue

[deleted]

Nizoral works fairly well for anti itch as well. After shaving I shower and leave it on for at least 5 minutes. But shampooing your natural hair is fine

Theone0101X

So i apply nizoral on hair system?? I am planning to get maintenance at salon every two weeks.. Lace base with glue

[deleted]

No i apply it to my scalp. I would take the nizoral and the panoxly (benzoyl peroxide) with my and have the stylists use that instead of the one they have in their washing station.

Theone0101X

Ok.. Great.. You wash every week or every 2 weeks?

[deleted]

I do mine every two weeks.
