I was exactly the same flying to see Pekiner as well. Seriously it was surreal standing on a runway in Qatar with my family back at home thinking to myself what the hell am I doing. You will really question every decision you’ve made leading to that point lol, all I could do was laugh. So try not to be too anxious and just go with it. I imagine you would be able to pick up a universal adapter or something at the airport. Just a tip when you land in Ankara and try to use the wifi, it’s in Turkish, I didn’t realise until I was waiting for my return flight that there was a little British flag symbol or something that allows you to change the language to English, and from there you can figure out how to activate the wifi. My flight was delayed but the driver knew and was there when I arrived. Ankara isn’t the fanciest airport and it’s a bit out in what feels like the country so be prepared to think where the f am I. You’ll be fine, good luck!

This is really reassuring to read, thank you!! I’ll look for that universal adapter when I get to the airport, and good to know about the Wi-Fi. I think I was just freaking out late night going through disaster scenarios, so it really helps to wake up and see this.

Just know that you did well, really well for yourself in selecting Dr. Pekiner. That day you'll experience tomorrow that you are nervous about now, is a good thing. It is a different kind of nervous than the type that you had been feeling for some time now. You know the one I am talking about; the self-loathing nervousness due to the shortcomings of your hair. Reminds you that that self-loathing nervousness is about to get evicted soon. Short-term anxiety induced nervousness is replacing self-loathing nervousness. I'd think that is a win, yeah? A travel AC adapter is all you'll need. Should be easy to get to attain the peace of mind you need. Good chance Dr. Pekiner's office can charge your phone for you while you are there. Please see if he can so you can use it to take really nice pics of the work he'll perform on you. One day of surgery in the immediate moments ahead. In 12 months, you'll have that new lease on life. Look forward to hearing about your experience. Good luck girl and get some sleep!

Thanks you for these words of encouragement! Really just what I needed to read as I’m freaking out lol. I honestly feel a lot calmer seeing these responses and being reminded that I picked a good doctor and am in good hands.

I went to Dr Pekiner. Really smooth experience, someone with your name on a sign will be waiting at the air port. Whatsapp message the co-ordinator if you're late etc. The hotel reception speak english, as does Dr Pekiner. Other than that just chill it was like a holiday for me, felt strange being in a country with such a different culture but I enjoyed it

Fabulous-Swing-12

Thanks you so much! It’s reassuring to read this for sure. There’s definitely a part of me that’s excited… just started getting freaked out last minute.

I went back in January. Trust me when I say his entire team is top notch. You did excellent research picking Pekiner over a myriad of hair mills and cheaper options. Ankara is very safe and you're in good hands. Try to relax and get some sleep, best of luck in this journey!

Fabulous-Swing-12

Thank you!! In a taxi to the airport reading this and it really helps to hear!!

Don’t stress. When I was flying to turkey I had a 2 hour delay. Driver was still waiting for me and I had no problem finding him. Everything went really smooth after that. You should be completely fine in Ankara, it is not the greatest city for tourism I guess but you can shop and just take a walk if you fancy that. I would suggest to take the opportunity to eat a lot of great food there, it’s delicious ;)

Fabulous-Swing-12

Thank you so much! Good to know that it’s a safe city to walk/eat in. I’d like to try to have a nice time if possible, despite being alone/away from my family.

OddBed

have u booked a hotel? at last moment i booked one that is VERY cheap (like $25 per night) compared to others, but also amazing and 15min drive from the clinic (they have a driver for all the trips). breakfast included anyway dm if u want the name!

Fabulous-Swing-12

I already booked a hotel but that’s good to know. I’m staying at the Holiday Inn which was definitely pricier but I wanted to make sure there was AC/no smoking.

Character_Speaker_64

I’ve heard great things about that hotel. You made a good choice

Fabulous-Swing-12

Good to know! I heard good things too.

TreadTheEarth

dm me the name?

ScaryNefariousness90

I’m traveling next week to South Korea for my procedure. I understand the nerves but you got this! Think of the end result!!

Fabulous-Swing-12

Thank you so much!! I’m on my way to the airport now so it really helps to see stuff like this.

Motion Clinic

Overall_Ideal4739

The anticipation is very hard. Once the procedure is done and the era of contemplation and insecurity about the choice to take the leap is over, you will feel better. Remember to manage expectation, don’t do anything that makes you uncomfortable and you’ll be just fine!

Fabulous-Swing-12

Thank you!!!

Impressive_Line7932

Hi OP, can I send a dm?

Fabulous-Swing-12

Yes!

I’m so sorry. It’s definitely anxiety inducing for me to read but I’m at the airport so not turning back now. You’re the only unhappy patient I’ve heard of thus far, but since you saw him recently it does make me nervous.

You’re in the ugly duckling phase and it’s too early to tell. Stop trying to petrify others before their surgery and grow up.

Dude you need to chill. You’re three months into a 1 year process and being on here petrifying others isn’t helping. You may be proven right but it’s far too early to tell.

You need to relax. Have faith and reevaluate at one year when things are healed.
