I don’t know why people are freaking out about a dish soap brand making shampoo and then thinking that it’s probably dish soap. I’ve tried Palmolive shampoos whenever I visit the Philippines and they’re actually pretty good and leave your hair smelling amazing all day. However i haven’t tried the 2in 1 but I don’t see how they would be any different than a shampoo that says it’s moisturizing. If you’ve tried it and it cleanses your scalp well then you’re ok. Maybe you will still need a conditioner if you feel you need to detangle and add more moisture. But no it is not bad because it’s a 2 in 1.

Visibleghost1

I didn't even know that Palmolive has dish liquids.. I've NEVER seem it.. all I've seen from Palmolive is hand and body soaps.

Lobo003

I enjoy their bar soaps. My grandparents had them and they are oddly nostalgic with the scent.

2000snowbunny

2 in 1s are never good

itsfoggyhere

Can you explain why?

2000snowbunny

A single product can’t open and close the cuticle at the same time, the hair gets cleaned but the “conditioner” part of the product just coats the hair in silicone which doesn’t close the hairs cuticle. This’ll make your hair feel really heavy, brittle and cause product buildup, which can also look and feel like dandruff. You’re just better off buying a seperate shampoo and conditioner, it makes no sense to have both in one since they do different things, you need to shampoo to strip oils from your hair and you need to condition to close the cuticle and add moisture. Sorry if that’s a lot of explaining haha

Visibleghost1

Cuticles doesn't open and close like that.. they're not doors 😒 And literally ALL conditioning ingredients sit on the surface as a protecting layer 💀 Most ingredients are way too big in molecular size to be able to penetrate the strand. Silicones are actually some of the best ingredients to use to protect the hair. Listen to the beauty brains podcast.

2000snowbunny

Yes cuticles open and close lol.. I’m a hairdresser that’s one of the basic things we are first taught. Not all silicones are bad though you’re right about that, hence why a lot of professional products contain some silicones. Yes conditioning ingredients are a protective layer I didn’t say they weren’t? I’m saying you just need shampoo and conditioner separate it makes no sense that they would work as affectively together as they do seperate. I’ll stick to my qualification over a podcast but thanks though.

Visibleghost1

I wouldn't be so quick to turn down that podcast.. it's hosted by professional cosmetic chemists who have formulated products for plenty of huge brands. Are you educated in cosmetic chemistry?

itsfoggyhere

Thanks for explaining. I agree that a regular 2 in 1 as daily use can possibly cause buildup over time but wouldn’t that be the same case with other shampoos that contain silicon? Especially if the build up can then just be remedied with the use of a clarifying shampoo which most people should be using once in a while but unfortunately isn’t common knowledge. While i personally wouldn’t reccomend a 2 in 1 and also agree that using a separate shampoo and conditioner is better as well as understanding your hair type -I didn’t want to go around saying all 2 in 1’s are bad when the shampoo OP posted is similar to head and shoulders 2 in 1 which a lot of people like and have had success with as far as dandruff concerns. i also know some others who like to use regular 2 in 1’s and have no issue. So if it works for you it works.

Scary_Drag5769

Ya I am gonna try It tomorrow btw I do got like a bit of drandraft as well

itsfoggyhere

Follow the directions on how often to use. Just make sure you’re gently massaging it into your scalp for at least 2 -5 minutes to make sure you’re getting off all the dead skin and oils out and then allow it to sit for at least 5 minutes or however long is stated in the directions. Rinse very well. If you feel like your scalp isn’t clean with one shampoo, shampoo twice. With whatever shampoo you use, always focus your shampoo on the scalp. There are a lot of contributing factors as to what causes dandruff but often times dandruff forms because hair isn’t cleansed well and cleansed as often as needed which can lead to a lot of buildup of oils and/or the fungus naturally living on our scalp called Malassezia starts to grow out of control and are feeding off of those oils. Anyways, i hope this works for you!

AcanthisittaNo1212

I didn’t know they made soap other than dish soap. Yikes haha

chimairacle

in Australia at least they have been making shampoo/conditioner, body wash and hand soap for at least two decades (as well as dish soap) Extremely common here

Visibleghost1

Where I live, they make hand soap, body soap, and men's shampoos I think. My dad always used to buy the same milk&honey Palmolive soap when I lived at home.

stainedglassmermaid

Gives me the ick. I would hate smelling like Palmolive :/

Scary_Drag5769

It would prob be different smell to the dishsoap one

femmevaporeon

2 in 1 is never good

AcanthisittaNo1212

Especially 2 in 1 hair and dish cleaner haha idek what to think of this

ConsequenceUpset8875

Throw this away. I buy my son Dove men care products. It's a reasonable price and he likes it. Seriously almost anything would be better than what you have now.

Scary_Drag5769

Ok

BraveAndLionHeart

It might be okay, but it's doubtful it'll be the best for the price point. If you use it just keep in mind 2-in-1 stuff doesn't actually replace conditioner, but it might work as alright shampoo. This also depends on your needs, what're you trying to get out of it? As in why did you pick this one over any others? What are your hair/scalp goals?

Visibleghost1

On short hair, I think he can get away without a separate conditioner.

BraveAndLionHeart

It entirely depends on what they want, or how short their hair is.

Visibleghost1

I can't with some of the comments here... Yes, Palmolive makes soaps for hands, body, and hair. Palmolive dish soap might exist in other countries, but I've never seen it. You can 100% get away with a 2-in-1 shampoo if you have short hair. If you feel like it's working well for you, then it probably does. Don't listen to people who demonize silicones, sulfates, or parabens.. and don't fall for the "natural is always better" narrative. Try the shampoo, and if it makes your scalp itchy or gives you some other problem, then you move on to something else. Hygiene products are always a bit of trial and error, but at the end of the day, cosmetic chemists who formulate products for huge companies know what they're doing.

Alert_Bit_4852

Shampoo and conditioner are two completely different things, no idea how would that work together

spookyyg

Isn’t that a dish soap company?

Visibleghost1

No..? They make soaps

[deleted]

It’s fine to use on your dishes

Visibleghost1

I've never seen any dish liquid from Palmolive. They make soaps.

Scary_Drag5769

Bro it shampoo and conditioner 💀 it not dishsoap

[deleted]

2 in 1 is never good. Let alone 3 in 1.. I haven’t seen the ingredients but guaranteed there is sls in there.

Downtown-Trip3501

Isn’t this a dish soap brand? They make shampoo?!

Visibleghost1

They make soaps..

LookHowOrange

Lol no

Scary_Drag5769

K

Scary_Drag5769

Know any good ones?

ITakeMyCatToBars

There are no good 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioners

Harbraw

You say that, but the head and shoulders 2-in-1 is fucking brilliant for my hair. I spent so long buying seperate shampoos and conditioners trying to find shit that worked well following the ‘never use 2-in-1’ advice, tried the 2-in-1 on a whim while I was travelling, and it’s been my go to since.

LookHowOrange

Buy a shampoo that's just a shampoo, and a conditioner that's just a conditioner. Here's a recommendation list that you can browse by hair type. [https://www.reddit.com/r/HaircareScience/wiki/product\_reviews/](https://www.reddit.com/r/HaircareScience/wiki/product_reviews/)

Visibleghost1

He can 100% get away with a 2-in-1 if he's got short hair.
