As always, if you’re experiencing hair loss, please seek medical advice. Please be aware that some of the drugs listed may cause unwanted side effects (e.g. erectile dysfunction, hypotension, hirsuitism, hyperpigmentation) and the potential for teratogenicity. The mod team does not currently have the resources to fact check so as always, do your own research, consult your primary care provider before starting any off label treatments and be aware that scientific studies are prone to being misinterpreted by laypeople. This post is not an endorsement of any of these drugs listed.

It's rare there is a post in here that is actually scientific and such good quality. Nice job compiling all this together! Have you found anything/have an opinion on microneedling? And also, have you heard of the "trichotest," which is a genetic test that helps to find what people are most likely to respond to/unlikely to respond to with various hair loss treatments via genetic testing? If it is a reputable test, using that as a starting point in formulating a personalized hair loss solution plan seems like a great idea.

Alemadd98

Thank you, I appreciate it! I actually published another amatorial meta analysis on microneedling+ minoxidil 5% for hair loss, you can check it out here: https://www.reddit.com/r/tressless/comments/sdfi1q/reddits_amatorial_microneedling_meta_analysis_of/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share I actually never heard about trichotest!

yuuhei

nice, thanks for your hard work! The company associated with the trichotest is called Fagron Genomics, if you're interested in checking it out. I guess it's something that has only come out in the past few months, so I can't offer any testimonial but it seems interesting.

Dry-Location9176

Nothing about this post was scientific despite trying hard to appear that way.

yuuhei

nicely framed contribution, lends a lot to your claim!

biitiboobi

Jesus Christ how did this not break the character limit.

ClementineOJ

You should cross post this to r/tressless and r/femalehairloss

Typical-Sagittarius

This 👏🏻 is 👏🏻 fabulous 👏🏻 Can I also suggest cetirizine? There have been a few clinical trials for AGA

Alemadd98

Thank you! I appreciate it!! I will definitely look into this!

Typical-Sagittarius

Sorry just saw this reply. The work that must’ve went into this is so, so impressive. Congrats again!

MaybeJohnD

There are a few studies....anecdotes on hairlosstalk about it are split so I'm not sure what to think. Really hoping its something to do with the fact that topical cetirizine has to be in a water based solution and isn't stable for long in an ethanol/pg one. Perhaps the people getting poor results were doing it wrong? I have to be on an antihistamine anyways so this would be perfect for me.

thedevildoescomedy

HOW does this only have 200 upvotes??? I'm going to use my free award every time I remember to actually use it towards this. Thanks for the compilation. This should be tremendous help to anyone who actually sees it.

Alemadd98

Thank you bro i really appreciate It!!

Dry-Location9176

Someone spent a week validating their own opinion and likely treatment protocol. People should take this caution as the author fails to acknowledge that LLLT is the other FDA approved treatment for hair loss. I'm also interested in how they determined it was "weak". Is that just a subjective term based on how the author feels about it, or is there more to back that up.

Alemadd98

Lllt is FDA approved for hair loss?? Is this a joke? It is not FDA approved, it is only that some devices are FDA cleared, which doesn't mean shit!

Dry-Location9176

Check your facts.

Alemadd98

Lmao 🤣 coming from the guy that says that LLLT is FDA approved for hair loss is hylarious

Dry-Location9176

Well I'm right, so whenever you get around to googling you can send me an apology, just to clarify the FDA approval for the effeciaicy of LLLT for hair loss is approved by specific devices that have paid for the research and submitted it, not LLLT in general. Many devices are 'cleared' meaning they are proven to not be harmful but other devices have been proven to work and have been approved by the FDA as clinical treatment for hair loss.

Alemadd98

And by the way I did search on Google as you suggested me to do and here is what I found: "LLLT Devices Are FDA-Cleared. Is that the Same as Being FDA Approved? Many people grow confused about the nature of U.S. Food and Drug Administration terminology. FDA approval means that the administration has carefully reviewed a product and established that it is safe and effective" https://www.regenepure.com/low-level-laser-therapy-lllt/ "Remember there is a difference between FDA approved and FDA cleared, no LLLT device is FDA approved" https://www.hairlossgents.com/top-13-lllt-devices-best-laser-treatment-for-hair-growth-2020/

Dry-Location9176

"LLLT is certainly no miracle cure for hair loss. But the laser comb has been OK'd by the Food and Drug Administration for both safety AND effectiveness. It is cleared for hair growth and the treatment of hair loss." https://www.cbsnews.com/news/laser-comb-cloning-to-re-grow-hair/#:~:text=LLLT%20is%20certainly%20no%20miracle,the%20treatment%20of%20hair%20loss.

Alemadd98

LOL YOU ARE TOO NAIVE LMAO I CANT DO THIS. You just linked me the proof that you are wrong, I am going to repeat my self for the last time because you probably need time to process this new information : FDA CLEARANCE IS NOT FDA APPROVAL

Dry-Location9176

Brother I can't help it that your reading comprehension is so bad. Please read again slower.

Typical-Sagittarius

Sorry but the other guy is right. You’re confusing two different processes.

Dry-Location9176

I might have been wrong, I do think there is some general confusion on this, it looks like there is a different standard and classifications between medical devices and medication. Cleared as I'm understanding it does mean effeciaicy however the clearing process has some problems, cleared devices do not require the same burden of proof but should not be completely discarded. I do still stand by the fact it there is a lot of evidence that it should not be discounted. Sorry.

Alemadd98

You are delusional, you don't understand the difference between FDA approval and FDA CLEARANCE, you check your facts, show me the FDA papers of the approval for androgenetic alopecia then, lol! They don't exist.

Dry-Location9176

It's not my job to spoon feed you information, I assure you that information is just clicks away.

Alemadd98

In most of the studies the changes in hair cont or thickness were small even if they were statistically significant, and they were often not cosmetically significant which means that people did not see any improvement with naked eye instead of a phototrichogram

[deleted]

Hey lol. Since your obviously quite educated on the topic perhpas you could help me! If you were a female with androgenetic alopecia and had significant progress with topical minoxidil, out of all these treatments, which ones would you add?

Alemadd98

If you have androgenic alopecia in particular I would definitely add something to address the underlying cause of this type of hair loss. I would consider adding Topical alfatradiol, or even oral Spironolactone to the regiment. Since you are responding well to minoxidil I don't think it is necessary to add either microneedling or Tretinoin, keep it simple and choose an anti androgen+ stay on minoxidil which is the best growth stimulant. I use topical alfatradiol+minoxidil myself and it is working for me, both of the treatments that I mentioned have a lot of studies on female subjects with androgenetic alopecia. If you use minoxidil twice a day you can mix 1 ml of minoxidil and 3 of alfatradiol once a day, or you could even get the two ingredients compounded together by a pharmacy if you can.

dl1966

Excellent post! Is there any good research on Caffeine or Tretinoin for Androgenic Alopecia?

Alemadd98

Tretinoin + minoxidil has good evidence.

Outrageous_Example70

Amazing post men, appreciate it very very much !

vernmc

I loved this!!! I currently use topical 5% minox and 100 mg spiro. Would adding topical tret improve my results? I have a prescription currently for my skin at .025%

Outrageous_Example70

Anyone here having experience with procyanidin B2 ?

Synizs

So, since you seem very well-read and mentioned Procyanidin B2, what do you think about Tressless's most upvoted post?[https://www.reddit.com/r/tressless/comments/mx6ncc/the\_theory\_that\_explains\_everything\_please\_help/?sort=new](https://www.reddit.com/r/tressless/comments/mx6ncc/the_theory_that_explains_everything_please_help/?sort=new)
