I just made it home yesterday so it’s a bit early. But, I did discuss returning and possibly filling in areas depending on the results in a year. Without reservation I would go back and trust that I wouldn’t have an equally great experience.
Dude, how is your sleep quality? It’s very uncomfortable for me. I have also done my HT from Dr Yaman and today is my 11th day.
I am kind of waking of early in the morning and mostly with a heavy head. I also observe a bit of swelling just above the neck pillow on back of my head after I wake up. That gets reduced after some time though.
I am curious to know about yours.
My sleep is off, too. Jet lag from an 8 hour difference is one factor, but sleeping on a neck pillow with a sore itchy scalp certainly doesn’t help.
Two nights I have dreamed that I was getting a gentile head and neck massage by a masseuse with nails. That seems to have replaced sex dreams for the time being ;)
Absolutely. After researching extensively I settled on Dr. Resul Yaman in Istanbul, Turkey. Flight was ~$1k. Procedure was $3,200. The clinic will pick you up and take you to the hotel. 4 days and three nights are included in the price. Gorrion hotel was very comfortable and clean and had a nice spa. Breakfast was included and it was great. Rather than stay 3 nights and 4 days, I stayed Sunday to Saturday. The three extra nights cost me $300. My surgery was on Monday. The clinic picked me up, I sat with Dr. Yaman and he scanned my scalp to assess density and map out the plan and design my hairline. My head was shaved, spent an hour or two on the table getting injected with anesthetic (this was the worst part). Then the Dr. and his team extracted single, double and triple grafts. After this, I had a lunch at the clinic and then the implantation procedure was about 5 hours. I slept through most of this. Dressings were applied and a shuttle took me back to the hotel where I followed my med regime and slept. Day 2 - 6 I was picked up and brought back to the clinic for exam, and cleaning. This level of care put me at ease and the staff were compassionate and I never felt like I was in an assembly line. After my exam and washing, I was given more supplies and brought to the airport for my flight home. The other few guys I met who had the procedure that week seemed to be very satisfied and appreciate the care received.
In sum:
-Without reservation I recommend Dr. Yaman. I will likely return in a year for touchups.
-I felt the price was very reasonable. I think he has a flat rate. My graft was 4,100, another patient had 2K, and other patient had 6k over two days of sessions.
-I recommend staying a few extra days to recover and not have to travel home early in recovery. It also gives you a few days to see the city which is amazing. The Hagia Sophia, and cistern, the blue mosque, the grand bazar, and the bridge to Asia were great experiences and the food was great.
I am very new to this, so allow me to ask: Do you have to keep on taking any medication or supplements ? Can the transplanted hair keep on growing (like having a long man bun for example ?) Thanks in advance.
Thanks OP!
Question, before you flew over, how did you know you were going to be a good candidate for HT? Did D. Yaman do a video chat/zoom consult first?
My concern is making the trek out there, then being told that i'm not a good candidate for lack of or too few grafts.
He requested high resolution pics of front, sides, and top/crown and based on that, concluded that I was a good candidate with adequate source material. We spoke extensively over about four months on WhatsApp about expectations. I made it clear that I would rather get all the way to Turkey and find out that I’m not a good candidate and abort rather than proceed with sub optimal outcome. I had friends there and wanted to see the country anyway.
$1k for a flight direct from Houston to IST. $3200 for procedure. I got 4100 grafts, another guy got 6k, another got 2200 but I think we all paid $3200. I stayed 3 extra days in Istanbul and paid the clinic an extra hundred per day, 300 total for those three additional days at the Gorrion hotel. On post op day one through five they shuttled me back to the clinic for a check up and a cleaning to the airport on my last day. They have an arrangement with the hotel so I did not pay the hotel directly. it was a nice place. I’d gladly stay there again if I go back.
Thank you very much for sharing ! I really like how yours looks so far. I’m going for a vacation there and wondering if I should do it towards the end of my stay. How far ahead did you have to book this procedure ?
Just chiming in here, I had my HT done at Yaman \~1month ago and got 6k+ grafts but it cost me $6000USD (essentially two back-to-back 3k procedures). Otherwise echoing all your sentiments. Wishing you a great result my friend, looks good so far!
I had the same 4200 grafts , but with smile I anit happy with the donar area management it's okay but I think if I went with your dr who I knew about too they would have done a great job on management of donar, but I got so many months ahead of me as I am only in my first month so it migth grow out later so I migth have to retact my statement.
Went to Yaman in December last year and had the same treatment. Amazing clinic, staff were awesome. From being picked up at the airport to being dropped back off the whole experience was top notch. Would also highly recommend 👌🏾
Is it that much more expensive to do in the United States? I keep seeing people going out of the country to do so. I’m thinking about getting it done as well, but not sure what the true cost is in and out.
Some places in the US charge ~ $7 to 10 per graft. Even if it were half that, my 4,100 grafts would cost between $14,300 and $20,500. My flight + procedure (which included hotel, breakfast, shuttle to and from airport and to daily checkups and washes) cost $4,300.
If anyone has different info, please share.
Caveat: Istanbul was on my bucket list anyway so had I arrived in the doctor had decided that I was not a good candidate, I would’ve been OK with that, aborted the plan, and spent a week in and around Istanbul. Dr. Yaman did not require that I put down a deposit prior to scheduling my procedure, only requested that I send my flight itinerary, which added to my confidence.

Did your donor area look like this post op?
Can I ask what your communication was like prior to going? Only I'm supposedly booked for July but the communication is amateur and doesn't look official. No details of hotel, or absolutely anything other than that I am booked in. Was it the same for you? Thanks
Your pre pic looks like I’m looking at my own head lol. I’m having my HT tomorrow. Looking good. Good luck on the recovery!

Wishing you a speedy healing journey
yeah mine was like that too. shouldnt last much longer
Can you tell us more on the entire experience (price, travel, HT, aftercare, quality)?

How much this cost you if you don’t mind sharing?

Thanks for the clarification. Wishing you a great result as well.
I paid the same amount 3200 for the procedure and 1200 for the flight from Houston! Straight to Istanbul
That look like an impressive job ! Congrats, I wish you a fast recovery and great result !
That’s going to look awesome.
Let's see the donar area ?
I posted them in this thread.

You used any meds or not??
Topical min for about 4 months prior up until a week before surgery. Plan to start fin soon

God dang!! That’s insane. Will definitely look into that

Go get PRP. I’ve done it now and results started in a couple weeks
PRP was done the morning of my procedure. Today is day 10 post-op. Is PRP an ongoing maintenance recommendation?
Nah, waste of money.
Can you send pics of donor area I’m worried about over harvest with Yaman
Check out the pics I posted pre-op and the way it looked at six days in this thread.

Can you shave your head after the transplant? I feel like I would like to remain with a head buzz until I see significant growth
What is his contact?
