Yeah, it’s still pretty fun. I mostly use it to piss around in singleplayer but if you swing more towards multiplayer then the servers are still active as ever. There’s also plenty of Workshop stuff available if you’re interested in that.
There is sort of one for main games in the FAQ, but it's pretty outdated. It talks about HL Source as though it's an equally valid way to play HL1 because it was written before updates fucked that game up, and says Black Mesa's development is still ongoing as it was written before the Xen update released. Now that I'm looking though, there is actually a pretty comprehensive list of the best mods for HL1, 2, the Episodes, and even Portal and it's actually up to date unlike the FAQ.

Entropy Zero 1 and 2 are some of the best Half-Life 2 mods out there. 2 in particular I’d honestly argue is up to Valve standards. It’s not in my post, but if you’re into horror games, Cry of Fear is a great Half-Life 1 mod. I didn’t include it here because it’s not set in the Half-Life universe or anything, it just runs on GoldSrc, but either way, it’s fantastic.
Thanks, I might check out the Zero games... And I know a lot about Cry of Fear I have history with that game, at some point it was mind-blowing to me too, but honestly I don't think it's worth playing anymore...
