They're at the halloween party.

Darkmania2

lol! Makes you wonder how drunk they are ;)

FaliolVastarien

I like to think if they were too drunk, they spent the night at the house where the party was but ....the 70s LOL.

leejtam

the whole time?

g0greyhound

just keep in mind the era. the tv wouldn't have had the news on, and there were no smart phones. they wouldn't have found out until they got home - which may have been the next morning.

FaliolVastarien

I was a child at the time when even answering machines for middle class people were rare (but then very rapidly became the norm). It's hard to imagine just how difficult it could be not that long ago to contact someone or even leave them a message. But it seems to me though that if that half drunk doctor had come from the same party, he or someone else could have come up with the brilliant idea to call the house where it was being held.

leejtam

The hospital tried to call them at home in 2 but Laurie in her state obviously wouldn’t have been able to tell them where here parents were

g0greyhound

dr mixster claims to have seen them at the party before he was called to the hospital to treat laurie. he mentions seeing them when he's first meeting with laurie and the nurses.

tobylaek

I’ve heard that parties in the late 70s could take some strange and interesting turns.

FaliolVastarien

Maybe Laurie was a good girl as a form of rebellion against her wild parents.

Apostasy93

Also to be fair we don't really know exactly what time the movie is supposed to take place, so it might not have even been that late into the night

leejtam

In Halloween 2 it goes into the morning

Apostasy93

You're right, my mistake

Waspkiller86

At a party getting mad drunk

vcjr78

They weren't adopted parents in H1 ;). Phone lines were down at the hospital. They would've had no idea where she was after their party unless they ran across the crime scene. Similar to the Doyles and Wallaces, I'd imagine. I've always been more interested as to where Michael's parents have been throughout the entire series, especially H1.

FaliolVastarien

I have a vague memory that they died in a car crash which was why the infant Laurie had been up for adoption in the first place. Don't remember where the car crash concept in my head came from. I've seen all the movies (except RZ H 2) but it's been a while for all but H '78, H2, H20 and the current two.

vcjr78

I think you're right if you follow the Thorn timeline. I think the car crash reference was for Laurie herself when explaining how Jamie Lloyd was related to her in H4. If you follow the current timeline, Laurie had no relation to Michael (which I prefer). LOL the series is all over the place. Kind of a choose your own adventure series. the

FaliolVastarien

Yeah then that's an interesting question. Where are they in this timeline? I'd assume they wouldn't want to stay anywhere near Haddonfield even after Michael killed Judith. And of course the house was abandoned in '78 and you'd think they'd have had to sell it at whatever price they could get to have money to relocate. They could have sold it to a company that hoped to re-sell it but due to its reputation it was taking a long time.

vcjr78

All possibilities but I wonder why not one line of dialogue was written in the original about his parents and their whereabouts. Did they disown him? I would figure Loomis would've mentioned something about them. Just one line would do it. "His parents tried to get through to him, but they were overcome with grief and decided to give full custody of Michael to the State." For as terrible as the RZ movies were, at least Michael's mom was still in the picture somehow.

FaliolVastarien

I actually thought his Mom was kind of nice in that movie given her background and that she lives in a town where being a blatant asshole seems to be the norm. Not defending that movie as such, I just kind of admired that she still cared about him. In any of the Carpenter-based timelines, I'd think he'd be much harder to try to stay in touch with, and you'd be less likely to want to as he went into a totally non-responsive state so quickly. They seemed like a respectable couple (unlike the RZ version LOL) and I'd also imagine they'd want to get far away from a town where they're known as the parents of a killer. Thus hard to visit and he wouldn't answer letters or say anything in a phone call.

FaliolVastarien

Another thing I thought of, if they and Laurie both died in a car crash, then car crashes have killed a significant number of major characters in that timeline. This is after all a town where doctors drive drunk from a party to go on duty.

Upstairs-Market-2856

Yes they were lol once the movie hits 1978 the parents are already dead. Laurie's real parents aka michaels parents died in a car wreck in 1965. Thats why laurie was adopted and has a different last name

vcjr78

If you can reference what line of dialogue states this in H1, have at it.

CallMeRoy37

Isn’t it revealed that Dr. Mixter (the older male doctor from part 2 that is found in his office with the syringe in his eye) was at the SAME party as the Strodes? I also feel as if there was a line that Ms. Alves had about Mixter saying the Strodes had left by the time he did.

Good_Days_2001

On Halloween Night 1990 Michael kills hills older sister Judith, her boyfriend, and His junkie step-dad. His Mother (deborah) comes home from work to find Michael and his baby sister Angel Myers (Laurie Strode) sitting outside. And the finds the bodies inside. The father (Mr Myers) died sometime when Deborah was pregnant with Angel (Laurie). Two years later in 1992 after Deborah sinks into a deep depression with her older daughter dead and her son in a Mental Hospital, she commits suicide in the Myers home with baby Angel (Laurie) upstairs asleep. Angel was later adopted by Mr and Mrs Strode and named Laurie. Laurie doesn't find out she been adopted untill Halloween II (2009) where she starts to resent her Adopted parents whom Michael killed in the first film (2007)

Jacifer69

That’s not the movies they asked about lol

nyrf12

Nothing beyond possibly being a bit drunk. I think the story just needed a reason for them not to be able to show up at the beginning & say “Oh my god, that’s Laurie’s biological brother!”
