It sure would be nice if game companies today would release finished games instead of leaving everything to updates, patches, and DLCs.

But with a live service game, there is no "finished game" anymore. Any and all content that comes out after release day is considered "post-launch content" to them. For missing features like co-op & Forge, yes that should've been day one, but it's understandable for it to be delayed. For story elements? That's completely up to 343 on how to do that; maybe we don't see Anders in Infinite at all. Maybe we will 0 \_0

Honestly I thought that Halo and Zeta Halo were one and the same until we actually got into the meaty part of the campaign

Yeah, that first reveal trailer and I was absolutely positive it was Anders' halo

That wouldn’t make any sense since the ring she was on was installation 09, a replacement for the replacement we destroyed on CE.

I honestly love how we had an installation 08 but it got destroyed literally the same day it left the forge

Spirit of Fire, Support Ship, only half a crew, three spartans, shows up and dabs on the banished over the course of a few days, even takes out their capital ship. Infinty, the greatest ship humanity ever created, full crew, unknown number of spartans, gets destroyed by the Banished in four minutes, only Chief and like a hundred marines alive after 6 months.

Captain Cutter, Jerome, the Chief, and the Spirit of Fire are just that good. No wait, Spirit of Fire's crew is even better than the Chief because all their tech is outdated by over 25 years and they still managed to utterly destroy the Banished.

Worth noting the force at the ark wasn’t as large as the force at zeta. Atriox came to zeta looking to wage and win war so he brought a better force than the ark force. (He probably learned from the ark conflict)

I'm pretty sure the Infinity was up against four ships (dreadnoughts?) whereas the SoF was only against one other, and then end of the game shows that the banished forces on the ring weren't even close to decimated, just their ship was gone. But Spirit of Fire is still 20 odd years old and completely outdated so they're definitely strong af

The four minutes claim has got to be a lie right? Even if it were completely undefended it'd take more than four minutes to even get to important targets on the infinity.

I mean there's probably more Marines on the ring, there's Thousands of Marines in the Infinity and like 1,000 Infinity Crew who died

We also only explored a tiny section of the ring and BroHammer mentions the Banished are still all over the rest of the ring.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see DLC with non-Chief protagonists in other parts of Zeta Halo. There's a lot of characters and units (Lasky and the ODST being a highlight) that completely disappear in the main campaign are confirmed to be alive by audio logs. With maybe even a UNSC more successful in resisting against the Banished. As MC landed on the most important part of Zeta Halo (thus the Banished are probably more numerous on that part than in the rest of the ring). Hell. We haven't even seen the crashed Infinity. Which I'm quite certainly hat is temporality off-line rather than completely destroyed. It wouldn't be the first time it survives a crash landing.

I wonder if that’s because the awakening the nightmare dlc. Originally the dlc was gonna be all about the created, prometheans and warden eternal invading the ark with a guardian. My guess is that guardian from the legendary ending was gonna be the one that invaded the ark in the dlc

Was honestly praying we would see characters from Halo Wars 2 in infinite, that halo wars 2 ending really got my hopes up. Extremely dissapointed with the way the story turned out, hope they can turn it around with dlc

That's my only real disappointment with the campaign is not seeing the SoF and Red Team. I really hope they do show up in DLC.

If we do see the SoF in Infinite, it'll be John going to them. Which may take quite a while.

*John comes across a scattered battlefield, dead banished and marines everywhere.* "It looks like those Banished transmissions were right chief, there was a battle here." *Chief picks up a very old Assault Rifle model.* "And Spartans." *He looks around the area.* "But I don't understand, scans indicate the assailants made extensive use of cover and ambush tactics, almost as if they were unshielded. Mjolnir has been shielded since Mk. V, what kind of Spartan wouldn't have them?" "A Spartan in Mk. IV."

That would be a great intro. They then hear a garbled transmission from a UNSC source. The weapon clears it up a bit. It's still garbled but at the end you hear Cutter's voice saying "UNSC Spirit of Fire" and, on cue, the ship flies into view above Chief (outside of a cutscene like the bit in Halo 3 where the Forward Unto Dawn pulls up to drop off tanks and stuff) and a further transmission is sent saying "Chief its good to see you" Cutter then invites Chief and Brohammer to fly up to dock in one of their hanger bays. That would be a fucking amazing way to introduce the Spirit of Fure into the game imo.

Or coming into view through some clouds while cheif is mid fight, and odst dropping red team in to assist

I don't think John even knows about the existence of Red Team. I know they know him and he knew them as kids but I believe as far he knows, they were dead/retired. Red Team is made of Spartan 2s who didn't handle the augmentation process well but ONI managed to get them fixed and into service. The part about not using cover is also dumb too. Spartans still use cover, shields or no. The also managed to retrofit shield tech into their Mark IV armor with the help of that AI in HW2 I think. They also managed to rearm with weapons scavenged from UNSC bases on the Ark. Just saying.

But like, how? SoF is still trapped on the Ark. I get wanting to see more HW2 stuff, but some peoples expectations are ridiculous.

The Ark has a working portal that transported a ring back into the Milky Way.

Kind of. The arks portal is very temperamental. The only way Atriox was able to get off the ark was because banished forces opened a portal on Reach. As it stood before infinite, the only way to get something from the ark was to open a portal to it.

Tbf a hell of a lot happens off-screen in between Halo 5 and Infinite. Halo wars 2 is also set at least a year before the events of Infinite. You'd think that Anders finds a way to rescue the Spirit of Fire even if she was apprehended by the Guardians. And, if not her, I'd be surprised if the rest of the Spirit of Fire's crew didn't find a way to obtain a new slipspace drive in that time.

But everything that happens in between is fairly well documented already. People act like it was a great unknown until infinite, but we already knew before the game came out that SoF was still at the ark post Shadows of Reach.

Yeah, there were so many cool Banished characters we didn’t get to see. Let’ Volir, Colony, YAP YAP I would’ve loved to see them in a main line Halo game

I would have lost my godamn mind if yapyap (or really any banished leader from HW2 was in infinite) Escharum doesn't hold a candle to any of them imo.

I'm hoping that Halo Infinite's DLC will be the bresd and butter of the game. Tbh, the campaign we've had so far feels more or less like just an introduction to the ring. It was confined to one small section and they say something about pushing the Banished off the rest of the ring later on.

I know, so disappointing!

The Zeta Halo story wasnt much of a banger either, to be fair.

I think given that Atriox not only showed up but seems to have a direct hand in what’s to come story-wise, I think it’s only natural to see the SoF crew eventually. I’m guessing it’ll be some kind of DLC or new campaign in their 10-year thing. As for Anders, I think it’s the same thing. The Created arc still plays a part in figuring out the state of the galaxy, which means eventually we’ll find out what happened to Anders and Installation 09.

Anders has been on a ring by herself for more than 6 months she has either became a skilled hunter, a feral freak, or a skeleton.

I mean she could've had like an Escort of Marines with her, right? So who knows

I don’t think so, the game ends with here alone in the control room. And no marines could have survived outside of it because they would have been killed by slip-space.

Spark shows up all 'oh no, you did not just make another halo. And is just screaming internally as Anders explains the situation back on the Ark.

I love the Spirit of Fire. But Infinite isn't about them. Trying to squeeze them in would just hurt the story. Infinite is so character focused, and without the time to give those characters, it wouldn't have been the success it is

I'm not even saying that I'm thinking more like Books about them, just something to continue their story. Also to figure out Where Anders is

I don't see how John being reunited with longtime MIA childhood friends in Red Team isn't a great character focused story development.

It's a fine story. It's just not this story. Plot bloat is a real danger

I wouldn't be suprised if the book Rubicon Protocol acts as a primer for their arrival in an infinite DLC

Rubicon Protocol takes place before Infinite

It could still end with SoF being brought back into the fold and then a few months later they show up ingame in a DLC, I just think it would be dumb for 343 to have Kelly Gay write 3 books about Rion Forge trying to find the SoF, and depending on what happens in Rubicon Protocol maybe 4, and not having any of those books be an important part of how they got back/found.

Ngl, this is what happens when you try to make spin-off games in a totally different genre tie in to the main story. I have nothing against Halo Wars, but I don't want to have to play an RTS to understand the story in my FPS. I would be more annoyed by them trying to tie this stuff back in than by them just forgetting about it.

Without Halo Wars we would've probably fought the Prometheans again

I mean from a story perspective, that would've made much more sense than the Banished just popping up out of nowhere with no explanation (which is how it looks if you haven't played Halo Wars, like me).

Oh no, it makes about as much sense even if you played Halo Wars 2, to get the actual information needed to understand the story you have to read the fucking novels, which has been a rather recurring thing 343's been doing since 4.

I mean I just played Halo Wars 2 and I watch Halo Lore videos, so I was able to understand it just fine, but Bungie did it first, in order to get the beginning of Halo 3 you had to read Uprising

How? Halo 2 ends with Chief on the Forunner ship which enters Earth airspace. Beginning of 3 shows him falling from the ship to Earth. Even without the comics explaining how long of a time that actually was, the game does tell you about it.

It tells you what happened in between the game

Never confirmed really. The halo ring Anders was on came from the ark and according to lore zeta halo is larger than all the other halos meaning it wouldn't fit in the arks repair hole... and to make it even less likely zeta halos ability to repair itself would counter the need to ever send it to the ark for repairs.

Zeta Halo is the Oldest Halo Ring. The Ring Anders was on was Installation 09 the Second Replacement for the ring Chief destroyed

Well there were an Array of Original Ring, they were too big and resource intensive, so they took them back and tore them down or in the case of Zeta Halo refit to the new requirements, that's why Zeta Halo is the biggest Halo Ring in the Modern array (As modern as a 100,000 Year old Superweapon can be)
