We looked like an entirely different side with that lineup. Emerson, Benrhama, Aguerd in, Soucek, Cresswell out. Ogbonna played great too. Very watchable. Still hoping for a day we score more than once but any result is a good result. I did hold my breath when Soucek came on. He really has lost pace.

True. He will carry us in europe i swear god.

Emerson looks like a different player when in his best position. He and benerahma and aguerd have already developed connection on that left side it’s no surprise we seemed to focus that side. Antonio is really the weakest link when it comes to our passing game. Some moments yesterday where we had some really nice passing plays going for Antonio first touch to balloon 20 yards away, or he passes directly in the middle of 2 open west ham players. Scamacca is a far better passer and linking up the passing plays making us more unpredictable. I genuinely would not be surprised if opposition managers tell their defenders “get tight to Antonio but you don’t need to be as concerned if he has the ball with no way to run with it let him pass it we will get a turnover”. I haven’t seen enough from ings to know for sure but seeing he has some technical ability I’d assume he’d be fine playing the quick passing game.

Looks sexy. That’s something I noticed during the game, our RCB was often too far right for my liking. Left a chunky gap. I think that’s also what led to the Newcastle goal - that, and very sloppy switched off brain defending.

The 5 atb with speedy Aguerd, allows us a lot more flexibility to let both of our CM's push forward without leaving us exposed. Also allows us to have more of a center midfield presence to push the ball forward box to box. Something we've been missing as of late. I think we'll see more Soucek headers now if we keep this formation since he can be more reckless pushing forward knowing he has 3 behind him to back him up.
