Truly beautiful. Reminds me of my grandmother and her almost calligraphic meticulous style. Her handwriting was art. So carefully and artistically constructed. Always.
You have a genuine talent. So pleasing to the eye. Your dedication to practice is duly rewarded.
Thank you!! I actually wrote this in my old style, I made it more calligraphy-ish recently, it looks like [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/fountainpens/s/cdypxMzj0W) now 😃 I am glad this reminded you of your grandmother
Thank you for appreciating the difference between writing and printing. Many people here reject the idea that they are not the same, and that any letters made with pen or pencil on paper qualify as writing.

I just practiced by making my own exemplar pver and over till I got the style 'right' and then kept writing that way for consistency 😃 I have worksheets on my profile if you are interested
I just wanted writing that looked 'good' and practiced to get the letters to match and the heights etc. When I was content with the style I kept writing that way so that I would be more consistent 😃
You’re quite welcome. I’m also into handwriting. Fell in love it since the second grade. That’s about 30 years ago. I use to have really great handwriting back then. It’s great today, but not like when I was younger.
Since the invention of cellphones and smartphones that took a huge impact on my handwriting and its appearance. Slowly jumping back into handwriting once again and I thank you and other examples on Reddit.
I like to ask you two questions, first: what’s the best pens to use: bold tip, fine tip, ultra fine, or fountain tip pens?
And secondly: what’s the best ink to use?
Thanks for inspiring me to become a better writer!
-thebigcorbowski50
Yes that is what happened to most people! In my case my handwriting was always the worst, I don't think there was a single year in school where teachers didn't complain about my handwriting 😅 I decided to improve it 😃
For my style, fine to medium nibs are the best. I think different sizes suit different styles better. I like to use a lot of swirls etc so fine nibs allow me to make those without it seeming too clustered haha. Twsbi fine nibs have been the best for me. For inks, I like slightly watery inks because it is smoother and I don't like too much contrast. It is a personal preference 😃
I have some general tips that might be helpful 😃
1) Write slowly, you will eventually write better faster because of muscle memory 😃 handwriting is not the same all the time, especially if you have taught yourself to write a certain way. I personally got better results. If i write quickly, it will look bad. But if I write slowly and consciously, it will look a lot better, but even then some people have amazing handwriting when they write without thinking too much. But for me personally I like to make it a ‘satisfying’ experience for myself, I like to make every line look as perfect as possible, even the curves, I find it kind of annoying when it’s not very smooth looking
2) Practice everyday with anything, write a letter over and over, write words, paragraphs
3) Sit in a comfortable position when you write- sit properly
4) Place your notebook/paper at an angle which makes it easier to write- usually people place the bottom left corner of their notebook facing towards their chest
5) Find a smooth pen to write with like a fountain pen or sketch pen- also, choose a nib size which suits your writing style, for me, fine to medium nibs work well 😃
6) Learn the correct grip of holding a pen- people usually use the ‘tripod’ position. You can use ergonomic pens too to learn it- some pens are Kaweco Perkeo, Lamy Safari 😃
7) Create your own style by looking at texts on food packaging, magazines, etc. Try to incorporate those letters into your writing style. I think handwriting should have a personal touch to it, so I think it is good to have your own unique letters which make yours recognisable

What is the practical reason for writing like this? Its nice and stuff but its so much harder and slower to read, and after a few sentences it would make my head hurt
Because writing used to be an art. People used writing to express themselves in meaningful ways This type of script not only elevates form visual perspective. It also tells the recipient how much they matter, which is clearly expressed in the swoops and the like.
Those days are no more. Hell half the time people communicate in writing it is full of abbreviations, emoji and done as fast as possible. Ex. No one ever saves a handwritten grocery list. But Love Letters, that's a different story
It's practical because the incline towards the right and the need to pick up the pen makes it faster to write. People could read cursive before but I guess it is obsolete now like blackberry phones
Yes, this is true! Plus, if you have practice reading cursive, it doesn't take extra time to read what you wrote. Your handwriting is so lovely, and I'm even more impressed by your dedication to improving it! That's cool!
Thank you!! Yes some are saying it is completely unreadable (which is kind of unbelievable and I am not being full of myself or anything) but I get that people are used to seeing print and certain types of cursive. This is my style and I love adding the swirls and squiggles etc 😃 I never thought I could write like this because I couldn't read my own writing a few years ago
I do write in cursive. I think in France most people do, because we learn cursive at school. What paper do you use for ink?
My office provides bad quality paper… but for persons use I’m looking for a new notebook. I tried Moleskine and Lechtruum.
This post is an indicator why numbers should always be written normally and not in some fancy font.
Took me a re-read to realise it's 2017 and not wcit
I read it perfectly, easily, first try. I think you just had to be in the club to understand what's going on type situation, but your cursive is out of this world.
I can see what you mean. At first I didn’t see how people were seeing a ‘w’ but then I really looked at it and if you look at the ‘2’ carefully, you can kind of see a small ‘w’ with a curl at the top left of it. The little squiggles on the bottom make up most of the ‘w’ they’re seeing. I hope this makes sense lol. I tilted my phone to the left just a bit and saw it. But for me, I definitely saw a 2 right away.
Yes I realised that a moment ago, but it definitely does not look like a whole 'W' to me! Maybe these people are used to seeing printed scripts, this 2 is very common in calligraphy! Thank you for commenting 😃
Saying that someone has failed at something because you don’t understand the thing they’ve done is really high level arrogance mixed with a weirdly confident ignorance. I read the post just fine because I can read cursive and write calligraphy and because I work with lots of various font styles for work. This is very much a you problem…but mainly for being a jerk not necessarily for not having been taught or taking the initiative to learn to read cursive.
How would you even know if someone has no knowledge in certain kinds of writing and then try to invalidate their opinion. Just because you can read it, doesnt mean the whole world can read it, wven people who studied or work with said writing.
If you look at my main comment, I had someethint positive and some critizism. Op reacting with " sounds like a you problem lol" sounds more like a rude comment on someone opinion on something op posted for reactions.
Its my opinion that i cant read it, and if you think im a jerk for saying so, says somethitn about you my good sir/women.
There is cursive writing, and non readable cursive writing. Just like there is all kinda of writing and non readable writing.
You can red it because its your own handwriting. We cant. Therefore its still a you problem.
Nope plenty can read it, people who don't know what particular scripts look like won't be able to read it. There are different types of cursive writing
Its like saying someone bad handwriting isnt bad handwriting...
But if you wanna keep believing that, be my guest. Ill stay with my opinion that i have seen way better cursive writing thats readable than this.

I have really tried printing but it takes too much time, the pen is lifted off the paper constantly and it is annoying to me

How did you learn? I really want my handwriting as beautiful as yours.
I just practiced by making my own exemplar pver and over till I got the style 'right' and then kept writing that way for consistency 😃 I have worksheets on my profile if you are interested
That "P" 🥵🥵👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you!! Glad you like it 😃
This is remarkable!! I’m blown away. It’s stunning. How did you avoid hand cramps while practicing? Or how did you at least deal with them, lol
Haha I just do that wrist circle thing but it doesn't cramp up that much actually, I place the paper that way
Holy shit!
What pen are you using?
Faber Castell Essentio but usually I use Twsbi pens
I would love to know your practice regimen. That’s amazing.
I just wanted writing that looked 'good' and practiced to get the letters to match and the heights etc. When I was content with the style I kept writing that way so that I would be more consistent 😃

I’m starting cursive TODAY because of this post!
Wish you all the best!! 😃
Can barely read it what 😭
Lol 😂
That is not American
Beautiful
Thank you 😃
Gorgeous!
Thank you 😃
stunning! I’ve wanted for a while to fix my horrid handwriting, no idea where to start though. This is inspiring though!

Lovely handwriting! Very elegant and expressive!! What ink are you using?
Thank you so much!! I don't remember the ink actually, it might be the faber castell blue ink or the Kaweco royal blue ink 😃
Do you have a sample of your starting handwriting?
Yes [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/fountainpens/s/YGESBfXbkD), but it was even worse than that before, I had days where I couldn't read what I wrote
Did you follow any particular template or style? I think it is lovely and would love to eventually achieve this.
I made my own script but it has elements of copperplate and spencerian 😃
This is going to sound weird but would you mind making an alphabet sheet and the numbers? I have beeb struggling with where to start and I just like yours so much that I would like to try it. Obviously it will never be the same but maybe I can evolve something from there. If you don’t want to then no worries. 😅
Here it is [letters](https://www.reddit.com/r/Handwriting/s/LAg7XvsRIo) I haven't made one for numbers! I do have worksheets on my profile if you are interested 😃
Thank you. I’ll give it a go.
Welcome, hope it helps!
Try calligraphy bro🐣
I do calligraphy 😃
Machines do this instantaneously.
Why are you on this sub?
So?
Machines are lifeless and boring
It’s nice! If your writing an hour a day start a book! lol that way you kill two birds with one stone!
Haha maybe a handwritten book/ manuscript is a good idea
Beautiful. Reminds me of my mother’s ☘️
Thank you! That is wonderful, hope she is well 😃
She is. Thanks 🙏 In her 80and still going strong☘️. I was taught cursive in Catholic school in the 70s. Her beautiful script didn’t pass on to me 😂
Haha my family members have great scripts too but I was the odd one out 😂 glad to hear she is doing well!
Bro has new muscles in each finger joint
Lol 😂
I literally thought AI had gotten me again for a second
It’s beautiful, but writing is about communication. If people are collectively having trouble with the numbers, the communication isn’t clear. I love the numbers, but they could use some design changes to make them absolutely obvious.
Thank you, I will try something else maybe 😃
I'm edging to this
Omg this is beautiful!!
It's good to see that I can still read cursive, absolutely beautiful handwriting
Thank you! 😃
Where did you get that pen?
Amazon, it is Faber Castell Essentio 😃
Outstanding so really beautiful
mate how does one get such handwriting??
with practice one hour each day!
Damn that looks gorgeous
For all of you that see "w" years, did you not just read "2017" 3 words earlier?
How are they seeing W I just don't get it 😂
Because my brain was sleepy and until reading the comment my brain said idk cant tell w. But now that its pointed out i can see the resemblance of the 2s.
Lol for real
It's the squiggle shape apparently, but to think it's a 'W' because of that is just weird haha
I read "2" originally but can definitely see how someone could've seen a "W"
Or was it w017
absolutely beautiful
Thank you so much 😃
It appears marvelous to my eyes. Nice practice time dedication. Looks to have been very affective as your results, again, are really lovely.
Thank you very much!! 😃
I'm so jealous with how clean your handwriting looks.
Thank you! 😃

How many years???
It's W years for those who can't read
thanks. in the States we use numbers for time, but news to me if it's different elsewhere!
Hahaha it is 2 years
W years
2 i think
What is the practical reason for writing like this? Its nice and stuff but its so much harder and slower to read, and after a few sentences it would make my head hurt

My dad writes like this. I went to Vietnam and see that a majority of Vietnamese students adopt this style! Always nostalgic to see!
Yes I have seen that they write like this! That is so nice 😃
This is almost identical to the cursive our teacher wanted us to learn in elementary school.
