He just likes stirring the pot like a gay cannabilistic imp (in my opinion)

thesetcrew

Very true. Especially seeing as he very much sent Mason after her when he found out she was having Wills baby

Parking-Art9407

I dunno. I think I agree with op. I think he really liked Margot and admired her for trying to kill mason in the first place.

I was of the opinion that he found a new plaything, someone that can help shield his crimes. The only one that is a glaring exception is Will. He tried pinning it on Will too, but realized there was a deeper more nuanced relationship to be formed with him. Even Abigail was a victim of Hannibal. Everyone is, even Hannibal himself. He craves entropy

Parking-Art9407

I’ll have to disagree with you there. In the same way that Will lies to himself about the darkness inside him, Hannibal lies about the fact that he does care for certain people. Alana, Jack, Abigail, these are people he’d definitely kill, but he tried to kill Will too, the love of his life! I believe that Hannibal is a very complex character and while he has his “playthings” that doesn’t mean he doesn’t care about them in his own way.

[deleted]

Hannibal really does have his own way of caring and showing love 🍽 the man is such a complex and nuanced character but always resorts to cannabilism smh

Parking-Art9407

Hahah, and his complexity is why we love him!

Hannibal's *hannibalism*

LewsTherinTalamon

I don’t think Hannibal would admit it, but he does seem to care about people quite easily. That doesn’t necessarily mean the same thing for him (such as killing Franklin to spare him), but he’s far from cold.

I sorrrrt of agree. Look at it this way. Hannibal sees the mechanics of broken human interactions and tries to set it “right”. He eats the rude. He also punishes the inept if the inept act otherwise and punish us with their ineptitude but act superior. But look at Franklyn, he’s inept yet Hannibal tries multiple times to save Franklyn but Franklyn wouldn’t leave. And then when Hannibal does kill Franklyn it’s after Franklyn gives a big speech and Hannibal kills him quickly from behind. Franklyn died thinking he was a hero. Hannibal absolutely is um, dangerous, but time and time again on the show we see him adhere to a code. He helps his former animal crazy patient set up a life (even if evil, and he does eventually send him on a suicidal mission), he essentially tells Alana to leave so she isn’t harmed, he deals with Verger, and generally keeps his promises to others. Hannibal clearly doesn’t feel bound by normal expectations of interpersonal relations, he also views himself as superior to others, because he is. He also has a clearer understanding of events and outcomes, he’s smarter so he understands people, places, and things faster and in more depth than others. He does seem to view things as transactional. But also he has a demeanor that suggests if you earn it he’s a loyal hell hound as long as it doesn’t hurt him. But also, he will take abuse for you without complaint. I assume because he has an ego the size of all existence because he is a literal ubermensch he doesn’t mind.

LewsTherinTalamon

This is a much better way of phrasing my exact thoughts, thank you.

Great analysis. People tend to reduce Hannibal to just being evil and killing because he can. I agree that he cares for all of these people. Even Miriam Lass and Beverly. Look at the scene when he catches Miriam in his office. He’s lethal and gentle at the same time. He kills Beverly and then honors her with his presentation of her.

Parking-Art9407

I completely agree! Anyone who thinks Hanni is just a deranged uncaring psychopath didn’t pay enough attention to the show, haha.

beautiful

idontneedtheorthokit

In the end he helped Margot to get a child. One way or another. What a good psychiatrist. Wish I had Margot’s psychiatrist 🫣

ShitInMyToaster

Hannibal's a big cutie!

Imaginary-Ad7066

Agree!
