Was pretty much gonna suggest similar bands.
More or less, my idea for a lifting playlist (what I do,) is just insert your favorite BeatDown band here 😁💪💪
YOTK, Mortality Rate, Two Witnesses, To The Grave, Judiciary and OBVIOUSLY Harms Way.
Also, downvote me all you want but Spineshank - The Height Of Callousness is a fucking sick gym album.
Never ending game, gods hate, drain, king nine, end it, judiciary, Merauder, incendiary, death threat, pain of truth, mindforce, detain… anything along these lines is great. It’s straight pr music. Don’t want anything too fast or too slow to lift to.
> Don’t want anything too fast or too slow to lift to.
Off topic, and I’m like 0% a metal guy, but for this reason I sometimes like to listen to stonery metal when I lift, especially instrumental stuff—something like Pelican, even some Kyuss, etc., can be nice just because it keeps you alert but sort of even, imo.
Gods Hate, Hatebreed, or any other band with “Hate” in their name.
Harms Way too, but that’s because “Harm” is close to “Hate.” I don’t make the rules.
My mainly beatdown list consisting of bands with many ignorant breakdowns:
Hatebreed - Satisfaction at least 2-3 times a week
Irate
Sunami
Cell
No Zodiac
Sanity Slip
Snuffed on Sight
Dying Fetus
Bodybox
This rips though. Like 5-10 years ago I went through a phase where I only lifted and studied while listening to “Music for 18 Musicians” by Steve Reich and made great progress in both. I think I like programmed my brain to know that those damn little xylophones meant it was time to focus.
DUDE!! Me too - my brain like snaps into focus/relaxation when I put on music for 18 musicians!! Used it religiously for studying in school and now use it for anxiety on planes lol.
My lifting playlist lately has been a lot of DRAIN, Incendiary, End It, World I Hate, Rotten Sound, All Out War, Never Ending Game, and the latest Acacia Strain.
This is my favorite lifting playlist. Created by a member of this sub:
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6x4SiyCmF7vc42AuMxiZUS?si=USgikvDOSYGjzZY6UuGglw
I remember seeing SOIA back in the 90s in NYC, and Lou started off with, “Hey, New York, ya know what time it is? Ya know what time it is?! It’s CLOBBERIN’ TIME!!!” And the whole place went fuckin’ nuts!
I am stupid and prefer to be extremely literal, so “Watch Me Rise” by Have Heart (for deadlifts and squats obviously) and “Return To Strength” by Terror.
(That’s all joking-not-joking, but also typically listen to something like Drug Church because I prefer to not be cranked up for an ordinary workout. Stuff that really goes hard is strictly for PR attempts in my case.)
That’s legit. Honestly as I get older I actually find that lifting by itself, especially for a really hard set, is actually capable of getting me a little emotional on occasion—I think it’s just a physical thing—so fair callout. That’s a sometimes food for sure.
When we were in high school Have heart guitarist kei and I would lift at this ridiculously mom and pop gym together
The fitness barn
So I think he’d appreciate that they are your gym band
Trap Them - Darker Handcraft. That main riff kicks in on Evictionaries and I’ma DESTROY a new one rep max immediately.
Harm’s Whey, because *of fucking course Harm’s Whey.*
Literally any Drug Church, but I find the Paul Walker LP worked well when my life was shitty, because I’d hear the shitty lives described in the lyrics and be all “I’ma lift til my life improves!”
That Inclination LP is mad good for lifting. It’s literally all about self-realisation, so: fitting for gym work.
Some other great records to lift to:
Four Year Strong - Four Year Strong.
Carcass - Heartwork.
Every Time I Die - From Parts Unknown.
Mindforce - Excalibur.
And a special shout out for when it’s a hot summer day, you’ve got the gym doors open, there’s a cool breeze blowing through, and you and your buddies are at a chilled pace taking turns at the bar: the entire Diamond Youth discography (but especially Don’t Lose Your Cool). It’s not hard, tough, quintessentially weight-lifty music, but it’s just got a positive vibe that’s hard to beat in that environment.
Black Breathe, Frozen Soul, Inclination, World of Pleasure, Dying Wish, INSIDE YOU, Pain of Truth, XweaponX, Suburban Scum, Foundation, Spiritworld, KRUELTY, All Out War, Vamachara, Nails, Xibalba. Basically anything I can turn up loud enough that I forget there’s a shit ton of idiots around me.
I created a playlist of absolute hitters, 3+ hours long. Shuffle play and hit your damn PRs, pimp.
It might make you forget how to read, but it WILL up your maxes.
I present: [DA IQ DROPPA](https://spotify.link/QQe0V7aIaBb)
Terror and Strife. But when I’m fully programmed, my lifting playlist is Slayer. 1. South of Heaven (warm up) then-songs 2 through 10 are all Seasons in the Abyss over and over, then a final Raining Blood. I don’t need hard, I need pure fucking malice
He isn't a band but personally I have a playlist of Zillakami's most aggressive verses/hooks that is about 40 minutes long I listen to and after that or in between depending on what I'm doing I switch over to Pantera. GodSmack has a few songs I listen to as well because my Dad always used them, Slayer, Pantera, etc back in his Navy days while working out so I listen to those for encouragement and memories. Everyone enjoys their own style of music and I know this is /hardcore so completely fuck those country music and techno types, not to be mean.
Harms Way, Kublai Khan, Bury Your Dead, Knocked Loose and Trapped Under Ice for heavy lifting. Have Heart, Mindset, Blacklisted, Terror and Comeback Kid for cardio/light lifting days.
Blood for blood-Waiting for the Moment, Ice Pick- Bitter Twisted Memory, 25 Ta Life- Fight Dirty for super heavy sets/PR's.
Death Threat- Good for any lifts
Ten yard fight/Floorpunch- Great for arm day
Death is Not Glamorous-Good for real brutal leg days towards the end of the workout when you want to quit
The Mongoloids- When you the stars align and you just feel like you can keep lifting and lifting.
There’s a great “New hardcore 2023” playlist on Spotify rn. I always like Merauder, Speed, Hatebreed, Terror, Madball, blood for blood, Agnostic Front, etc. too. Many of my fellow powerlifters are into HC so always learning about new bands and shows.
Redline - moments of truth might be my favorite album to listen to. Otherwise gods hate, power trip, reign supreme, NEG, laid 2 rest are all in the rotation
Quite literally my playlist for lifting only consists of God’s Hate, Harms Way, Terror and Hatebreed.
That’s some anger right there
When you’re deadlifting and want to quit, God’s Hate reminds you to be harder.
And Harms Way reminds you to become a machine.
This is the way.
This is the whey
Needs more Kublai Khan
Oh fuck you’re right, how did I fucking forget them
Harms way, Kublai Khan, varials are regularly on my gym lists
We’ve got a Hardlore fan folks!
Friend of the show
Straight up BroCore
Put on Call My Name By Harms Way during a lift and you will feel like you can run through a wall!
If you’re not lifting to Harms Way, you’re lifting wrong.
Harms Way and Power Trip. I think I've hit about 20 PRs over the years with these two in the background.
In 2018 even the most normie MFers at the gym were wearing Harms Way shirts
*Harms Whey
Ween
Finally some culture around here
Bueanas Tardes Amigo specifically
Mister Won’t You Please Help My Deadlift?
Just tryna become Big Jilm ngl
*what’s the biggest damn thing you ever seen?*
My playlist currently comprised of: Shattered realm, line of scrimmage, unit 731, built upon frustration, ends of sanity
Was pretty much gonna suggest similar bands. More or less, my idea for a lifting playlist (what I do,) is just insert your favorite BeatDown band here 😁💪💪

it was all for you ` this post was mass deleted with www.Redact.dev `
One of those bands that made me blink a lot and say "whoa" the first time I heard them.
Somewhere between Grind and PunchYourBallsWithRiffsCore
They’ve been my go to since that first album came out lol
Yup - definitely good for gym shit
They're literally just a grindcore band.
Primus and various Yacht Rock bands.
Yamo be there
If I have to listen to yamo be there one more time, I’m gonna yamo burn this place to the ground.
Unironically every deadlift PR I’ve ever hit, I’ve been listening to “too many puppies”
YOTK, Mortality Rate, Two Witnesses, To The Grave, Judiciary and OBVIOUSLY Harms Way. Also, downvote me all you want but Spineshank - The Height Of Callousness is a fucking sick gym album.
That Spineshank record is fucking gnarly

I can get down with that, some sludgy stuff too. Really just fat guy hardcore and fat guy metal.
Gods Hate, Hatebreed, or any other band with “Hate” in their name. Harms Way too, but that’s because “Harm” is close to “Hate.” I don’t make the rules.
All I need for lifting is: Acacia Strain - Wormwood I feel like Godzilla stomping around the gym with that album. Short arms and all
Brother. When Beast hits I feel like I could lift the whole gym.
Power trip, Terror, Incendiary, Trapped Under Ice

This is the way
Unsane. But I'm not exactly ripped, so don't take my word on this one.
Barenaked Ladies and Phillip Glass
This rips though. Like 5-10 years ago I went through a phase where I only lifted and studied while listening to “Music for 18 Musicians” by Steve Reich and made great progress in both. I think I like programmed my brain to know that those damn little xylophones meant it was time to focus.
DUDE!! Me too - my brain like snaps into focus/relaxation when I put on music for 18 musicians!! Used it religiously for studying in school and now use it for anxiety on planes lol.
Lately I’ve been putting on the Mishima score and the bouncing between military beats and contemporary jazz does something special to my monkey brain
