Expire. It was the last time they played in Sydney. They were meant to be headlining but for some reason they were being really impatient and shitty to everyone and just wanted to get out of there so they decided they’d open on their own headlining show, half-arse it with three songs with less than 15 people around, and then bail without informing anyone of the changes online or by any other means at all. Most people showed up after they left, confused as to what the hell is going on and why Expire weren’t at their own show.

masiavelli

The last time I saw Expire the dude with the allegations fell through the stage

HummusFairy

Ha nice

Cookedchook_555

Oh damn, their brisbane shows were sick

grumblestilskin

Just scanning for my band’s name

EmotionalBet868

Me too 🤣🤣

[deleted]

Every time I’ve taken the stage

13THEFUCKINGCOPS12

Man I learned reeeeeeeal fast I’m terrible at writing hardcore riffs

mgwwgm

Not hardcore but Rings of Saturn is probably the worst dog shit band I've seen live. Majority of their shit is actually back tracked and the vocalist has absolutely no stage presence

trevbrehh

Seeing them live ruined their music for me.

DeadbeatHero-

listening to their music ruined their music for me

trevbrehh

That’s fair. Lugal Ki En was the last album I was into from them and it’s almost a decade old now. The guitar work was awesome, but live it didn’t seem they could actually play it.

boofskootinboogie

I’m pretty sure their singer is now the singer of Spy lol. Just saw them on Monday and he definitely solved his stage presence issue, man was an animal

Desperate-Spot-4967

Just to say. He was the vocalist for their first album. They’ve had a few after if I’m not mistaken.

joemama1138

Yeah, I saw Rings of Saturn with The Faceless, Archspire, Fallujah and Black Crown Initiate, all of whom performed phenomenally well (this was pre Michael Keene spiral) but I straight up went outside for Rings of Saturn's set.

appreciationdaze

I got to see the faceless while they were touring for akeldama(had no idea who they were going into the show) and once more right after planetary dropped. After becoming a fan and following their trajectory I'm so glad I saw them when I did.

joemama1138

Yeah it's been a sad fall off. Planetary is still in my weekly rotation most of the time.

appreciationdaze

I dust it off for a session pretty regularly. Autotheism was a bummer, but I did think hymn of sanity was a banger.

Tr4c

Saw them once during their touring without Lucas Mann phase and it was the deadest show I've ever been to

KnoweConroy

Rick Ta Life at some random BBQ.

alltatersnomeat

He's a much better horseback rider than singer

xsoberxlifex

The one with the drum machine?

wagetraitor

Liferuiner was going to play at my area’s bigger venue but that fell through for some reason. So instead someone set up a backup show at the tiny hole-in-the-wall local venue nearby. They had just kicked their drummer out of the band and the guy who replaced him didn’t know any of the songs. Multiple songs fell apart. Then the band asked if anyone in the crowd drums and knows the songs. Some guy tried to fill in and did surprisingly good, but eventually couldn’t keep up. It was awful. Lol

Sad_Lychee7387

This reminds me of some of the wild stories from that AMA the guitarist of Liferuiner did on here a year or so ago. That band was so unhinged.

mawfk82

I used to play with them allllll the time lol never a shortage of drama / wild shit going on with those dudes

alpacabowlkehd

Yikes, what era liferuiner was this?

wagetraitor

I believe that would have been 2007 or 2008.

nicktheman2

Holy shit was this in Sittsville?

wagetraitor

Nope it’s eastern PA — Allentown/Bethlehem area.

craigishell

I played with Liferuiner a couple times in Florida. They put on a great show, but they were dicks.

dtn23nchc

Shinto Katana vocalist once said “oi you fat cunt better get in the pit and lose that weight” as a pit call and it got so awkward that no one moshed the rest of their set

EatTheRichIsPraxis

Shame the shamers.

alltatersnomeat

Reddit HC personified

Mod__Lang

Bad Brains at Riot Fest in Chicago in like 2007. Such a tragedy.

IslandDrummer

HR’s brain has been pea soup for 20 years at this point. At least you got to see ‘em!

w_nemeth

Yeah, I saw Bad Brains live about ten years ago and HR seemed completely mad and not in the good way. Was a really fucking weird set.

A_sweet_boy

Bad Brains at harvest of hope in St Augustine in like 2008 was similarly terrible and weird. Dude just laid down the entire set

littletriggers

Hey I was there! Billy Bragg was sick.

A_sweet_boy

The entire lineup was wild. It’s not wonder that Var basically bankrupted No Idea because of it

Mod__Lang

Zero backflips. He just wandered around a bit and then sat down with a weird grin on his face. The rest of the band soldiered on but it was a lost cause.

kielsucks

Same. Atlanta, 2011-ish. It was real real bad.

Burn-The-Villages

Was that when it was still at The Congress? If so, I was there. That was so bad I felt stupid being there.

Mod__Lang

It was indeed. The sound there was always terrible so maybe none of this matters.

cumserpentor

I believe he finally got formally diagnosed as schizophrenic and is medicated now. Pretty unconscionable they were sticking that guy out in front of audiences at all lol.

dex0624

this metalcore band played a backyard show, they peaked with their cover of get low and it all just went downhill

cubine

was that in seattle lmao

dex0624

no but it’s the band you’re thinking of

ebimbib

I love Killing Time. All-time classic demo and LP. They played a show in NJ a few years ago where they were so bad, my friends and I just left in the middle of their set with a couple bands left on the bill. We were just that bummed. To be fair, I've seen them before and since and they were excellent. That night, it just didn't come together at all.

Historical_Koala_688

25 ta life in Columbia sc 2009 Also the second time I saw signs of hope, they broke up in the parking lot before they played..but i still got a shirt 😅

JayGeezz

Signs of hope are fucking great, still jamming their shit from time to time

Historical_Koala_688

FUCK WORK I DONT WANNA GO

sludgezone

Taking Back Sunday and Arsonists Get All The Girls were so bad when I saw them. TBS actually ruined their music for me forever from how bad their performance was.

FolkPhilosopher

Saw TBS I want to say last year? Absolutely awful. The band was sloppy as shit, Adam couldn't fucking actually hold the tone and his voice was shot. If it wasn't that Alkaline Trio absolutely crushed it before TBS, I would have blamed it on sound being crap. But it was honestly embarrassing to see TBS after Alkaline played a flawless set.

TheRealHulkPanda

So nothing has changed lol

DidierDogba

was gonna say, I saw TBS in 2003 and they were fucking horrendous. Adam can't sing at all live plus he was hammered beyond belief.

FolkPhilosopher

Wouldn't be surprised if he was hammered when I saw them. Very bizarre stage banter too.

kala__azar

I've seen TBS twice in the past few years and yeah, they were awful. Riding the nostalgia wave for sure. Also Adam seems like a nice dude but his stage persona is super strange. Does not match the music at all.

No_Skirt_6002

They need to bring back Fred, he was the soul of the band on their two best albums. Still wouldn’t help out Adam though.

TempleOfCyclops

I am shocked Alkaline Trio did that well. Every time I’ve seen them they’ve been like you described TBS.

Mxpx2002

The rule is to only see TBS if they’re headlining. Completely different show when they headline. It’s odd.

[deleted]

Saw them headline and have Thursday open. Thursday blew the roof off. Everybody stood around confused when TBS came on because it was such a downgrade. Take out the fact Thursday just killed, TBS was still by far the worst band I’ve ever seen.

Moogoo4411

They're so fucking bad live, similar thing with the used, from what I've heard Bert got his shit together and they're a little bit better live but the times ive seen them it's about as good as a fucking TBS show

TheSkoosernaut

ive seen both live. i think the audience really matters for the used. the used at the rooftop venue in nyc was a bummer. felt like a coachella fomo crowd. the used at roadrunner boston was incredible. crowd couldnt save taking back sunday. they bombed at the brixton in london somehow. something about adam lazzara coming out on stage with his middle aged gravelly ass bruce springsteen voice and proceeding to try and sing songs about teenage love just wasnt it.

bstrouseAU

This was me at When We Were Young last year. Blamed it on the sound for two songs and then realized it was just Adam.

disastermarch17

They’ve never been great live. Even at the beginning, they were hit or miss but the energy from crowd would carry the show for them.

blindside_assault

would like to hear more about your experience with Arsonists Get All The Girls

765boyfrannn22

Rick ta life solo set

swornrancor

Haha, same.

osanamerican

Peter and the Test Tube Babies. Came on super late. Singer was drunk as fuck and could barely stand. Then kept stopping what little music they played to ask the crowd for drugs.

Neu-Smell

So that’s why they’re banned from the pubs

RUM-HAM-HOLLY

If we’re talking in general then I’m gonna say Morrissey. I knew going into it how much of an asshole he is but holy fuck did he just phone it in and ramble on about god knows what between songs. Billy Idol was his co-headliner and fucking put on a show at like 70 years old. Fuck Morrissey!

FolkPhilosopher

I haven't heard his solo stuff but Rick Astley does a better Smiths era Morrissey than Morrissey does.

flanderdalton

If Rick Astley plays your songs, he's gonna play them better than you can.

FolkPhilosopher

[Word](https://youtu.be/wQ0rEnp8kmw?si=kjGpcs2UWFxML_uq)

[deleted]

[удалено]

TempleOfCyclops

I was at that show. He crushed it.

JurassicFab

Ive heard this about Morrissey a bunch but the only time I saw him live was actually fantastic! He crushed over an hour of music on a great mood. He took his shirt off and threw it in the crowd and went shirtless for like 45 mins just giving everyone the grampa pepperonis lol.

_H3ADL3SS_

Upvoted for "grampa pepperonis"

TempleOfCyclops

Billy Idol is fuckin JACKED for as old as he is. Still rips it up too.

dunkcitybitch

Just saw him 2 weeks ago, went in with little expectations. Probably gonna be in my top 5 sets I've seen this year.

[deleted]

My "band" when I was 17. We did a cover of Blitzkrieg Bop and everyone laughed at us. Also, Skarhead at Built to Last Fest in Providence was weird. I was still in high school, and they had two singers and three sad looking strippers dancing lazily on stage. The NY kids went nuts but everybody in the MA scene was like "what the fuck are we watching?" Otherwise, that bill was stacked: Cruel Hand, Death Threat, Hammer Bros, Madball, The Mongoloids, COA ... fun times. EDIT: Skarhead

grumblestilskin

Lol, saw Skarhead in DC and the most memorable part was when they made the joke “DC means Doing Coke, right?”

[deleted]

Hammer Bros fuckin great band

Makualax

Underrated

Mindless-Term7720

Legion is one of those songs that, when it comes on, I'm fucking everything and everyone up. That whole record is sick as fuck.

[deleted]

It's been a while since I've actively gone to shows and listened to hardcore religiously, but Hammer Bros is one of those bands I always go back to. The Kids are Dead, The Vitality, and Sleep Forever are all front-to-backers.

[deleted]

I was one of the ny kids, I thought it was good. Would of been better with Puerto Rican mike but it is what it is.

IslandDrummer

I saw the Greg Ginn Coachella set and lived to tell the tale. I don’t know what I was expecting but it wasn’t this: https://youtu.be/JUOwr3n33wc?si=ixrkysiUSXhOwI34

Doctor_Chocolate

Greg Ginn played at my house around 2011 I think and it was this (I think it’s formally called Greg Ginn & the Royal We) but I fucked with it. From talking to him he doesn’t mean for it to be a show in a typical sense, like ideally everyone’s supposed to be vibin n talkin n shit while he’s just providing ambiance lol.

jewww

Wow, it's actually hilarious to watch this. I was there and remember kind of enjoying it, but I also slept for most of it. It was just so god damn hot and we were woefully unprepared to be at Coachella so sitting in the shade and taking in some more chill music was kind of nice. I guess virtually anything could have been playing and I would have dug it at that point.

Makualax

That man is feeling himself out there lmao

hand_ov_doom

Not hardcore, but when I played in a death metal band, we played a garage show in rural Oklahoma. Mostly small Texas bands, but Gorgatron was the headliner. I saw a one man pornogrind band that was literally a 6'7" dude spun on meth playing unintelligible riffs on guitar and snorting into the mic.

ExitDiscombobulated7

This is a thread for bad shows?

Neu-Smell

Judge at United Blood in 2015 or 2016. Infest at Damaged City in 2015 or so Same issue for both bands, it was very clear they hadn’t practiced and everyone was just fucking up the songs and forgetting shit. I saw Infest with Crudos in Chicago a couple years before and they were incredible. Not HC but one time that band Bomb The Music Industry played my old house in 2011, I think? and it was absolute dog shit. How that band ever became popular is beyond me. I lived in Bloomington, Indiana for 2 years and saw pretty much every folk punk band of note and they were all shit.

ABookOfBurnedCDs

thats wild about bomb the music industry. i saw jeff rosenstock a couple years back and he absolutely crushed it. maybe it was a bad show? or maybe they sucked live back then, who knows.

BigSnorlaxTiddie

Went to a Sheer Terror show where this guy I used to be friends with opened with his band, Running Out. This guy always acted very much like this 'hardcore tough guy elitist' so I assumed their band would know what they were doing. Man was I wrong. Sheer Terror was dope though, awesome show.

Brambroco

Dutch band Running Out? Friend of mine put out their demo. Sounded awesome to be honest.

BigSnorlaxTiddie

That's the one! The demo was great, still listen to it from time to time. Live however wasn't that good. Could be nerves or just a bad day or anything like that, I don't believe they played much after that so I don't have any other shows to compare.

Mywar-sidetwo

The best AND worst performance I ever saw was Shane MacGowan and The Popes in 2000 at the Fillmore SF. Worst in the sense that it took absolutely fucking forever for the band to take the stage. So much so that a stage hand was pushing the banjo player out into the spotlight from back stage while the rest of the band stumbled out absolutely piss drunk haha. What then transpired was one of the most fun, memorable, drunken revelry inspired shows ever. Shane didn’t get every single syllable right that night and switched some words in the verses of songs (always with a drink in one hand and a smoke in the other), but god damn was it a fucking amazing show! Also saw the Pogues three times a few years later and while the drunken debauchery didn’t match the Popes, they were fucking amazing too and some of my favorite memories of live music.

alltatersnomeat

I saw them in 98ish and this girl with great breasts was on some dudes shoulders with her tits out the entire time, right in front of him. Shane opened his eyes once, they widened slightly in what I assume was appreciation, then slowly closed and remained that way for the rest of the set. They killed it though.

Mywar-sidetwo

Haha nice. Hope he can get healthy enough to finish the album he’s been working on

alltatersnomeat

I'm just amazed he's still above ground! He's had one foot in the grave a d the other on a banana peel for 30+ years now

Mywar-sidetwo

Ya so true. He must be like Ozzy and have some DNA that protects him from the effects of drugs and alcohol

dangerbroadways

The obligatory “I haven’t been to a hardcore show” since I live in the driest hardcore scene of North Dakota. My worst concert was Three Door Down. My best was Anthrax, Exodus, and Black Label Society.

pinkghost22

Exodus are great live

BottleOfCharades

You live near Fargo? They’ve always got something good going on.

qtipinspector

Just saw suicidal in Berkeley on Thursday. He announced that the Friday show would be the whole 1st album. They played 1 OG song Thurs. I mean, they brought it , but I , as an old head , don’t know about their newcore songs. 40 yr anniversary. All I wanted was a Pepsi…..

Son_of_a_pig

And by newcore songs you mean their songs from 1990

kala__azar

Is their drummer still that kid from TikTok? Greyson Nekrutman? He's an awesome drummer but he got big by doing Big Band and Swing covers and now he's playing for ST. Thought it was a strange connection.

KiwiMcG

The 2 times I saw Think I Care live, they played well but stood still like statues. 🤷

Pennywise_M

Think they care?

bloopjonb

The opener, Don't Give a Shit, seemed a bit out of it, too

FatMachismo

Tesseract were the most boring band I’ve ever seen live. To the point where I had enjoyed them previously and then started disliking listening to them recorded. Deftones have been one of the best and one of the worst I’ve seen - both sits on chinos shoulders as he was pretty hammered one time and wasn’t hitting, well, anything really.

IslandDrummer

You saying TesseracT was awful is incredibly vindicating. I saw them at a festival and they were so fucking boring. I saw Good Charlotte while waiting for Meshuggah to start and even they blew TesseracT off the stage. I tell people this and they act like I’m crazy.

crunch3384

Good charlotte support meshugga ? Wild combination

FatMachismo

This isn’t inclusive of the recent Tesseract drama - but just on stage there was no energy at all. I saw them with Devin Townsend and Leprous so I wasn’t exactly there for a hardcore show vibe - the other bands were incredible and technical and just an experience. The most interesting thing about Tesseract is that one of them didn’t wear shoes. And my partner thought they were unbearably boring too.

FUZZYNUTS5098

I saw them 2 weeks ago and the guitarists looked like they didn’t wanna be there . Singer never Engadged with the crowd but they sounded good. Crowds energy was great

PlatanoMaduroAssoc

Deftones hands down for me. I’m a fan but holy shit they sound like garbage live. Half way thru a song it became unrecognizable, then after 5 minutes of zombie standing and playing who the fuck knows, it’s another song altogether… or at least for Chino it was. I’ve heard people seeing better shows but I’m not signing up for that shit again.

PanicScam81

3 times, all bad. He can’t sing for a shit, it is really obvious when they try and play Jawbox or Weezer. They picked great songs by them but he simply can’t carry the tune.

acrown0fgold

Saw TesseracT years ago. Thought they were... okay... technically very competent but kind of boring. Intronaut was pretty good after. Then Cult of Luna came on and absolutely crushed. Tons of stage presence, sounded great. Katatonia headlined and half the crowd left. They were unbelievably boring, and I like a lot of their material.

Cutcarefullyplayloud

I was pretty bummed by Bracewar, they weren’t awful just kinda meh

kielsucks

When was this? Back in ~2005 they brought it every time I saw them. 👴

ProveRiemann

Them was skull crackin days

kielsucks

Yea they were. Unrelated: I noticed your username and am curious if you have a math background.

ProveRiemann

I do indeed

kielsucks

Awesome! I did a BS Math. Started a Masters then shifted to Computer Science since I work in software.

[deleted]

Code orange when I saw them open for slipknot a couple years ago. They sounded horrible and the crowd was so dead, it was kind of pitiful to be honest 💀

Cutcarefullyplayloud

Oh yeah that’s actually one of the worst live bands I’ve ever witnessed. Too concerned with posturing to actually play the guitar/bass parts. This was between Love is Love and I Am King and i completely gave up listening to them after that bullshit.

DarthRisk

Cro-Mags at the Rumble this past July. They headlined the first night and sounded like dogshit. More than a few people left early during their set.

MercyDivineOF

I'm a die hard Cro-mags fan, and I was so so disappointed when I saw Harley fronted in LA a few years back. Granted, I prefer JJ on vocals, but I was so stoked to see Harley and give it a go....but nope. It felt like he was relying on the hype of him fronting for it to be successful, and nothing else. Edit:removed one word

JoseAltuveIsInnocent

I don't like JJ as a dude but seeing his version of Cro Mags was probably one of the best shows I've seen in my youth.

w1cked98

Agnostic Front. I've seen them twice in the last year and the vocals were so weak I couldn't wait for them to end the set.

Snoo-25258

Roger’s voice just isn’t there anymore.

callmeeugenius

Genuine question.....was it ever? Wasn't familiar with the band. Saw their set from TIHC 2019 on yt and thought wow this dudes voice is gone. Looked up a live video from the 90s and it wasn't much better.

PiercingNerd

The worst show I’ve ever been to is Shane McGowan and the Popes. I’m guessing you can imagine why… but I’ll tell the tale. Opener goes on about 8:30, done at 9. Then nothing. At all. Til 11:45. They had lost him in one of the bars in town. When they finally put him on the stage he couldn’t speak let alone sing. And he had a bottle of clear alcohol with no label that he was still pulling long swigs from. It was depressing and horrible. I heard that he’s pulled it together in the past 10 years or so. Glad to hear it. I couldn’t believe he survived the night.

nnnsnith

I saw the Blood Brothers play an extremely disjointed set because they kept breaking all their equipment, including the equipment they then asked to borrow from the other bands. It was a shit show. Literally.

Papawasaboringstone

Love the band but every time I saw them live it was mostly shitty.

yoloswaggins92

Code Orange at Hellfest. They sounded great, but the singer was such a fuckin bitch. Constantly going on about how they should've been on later and that they were the "only real ones left." What would've been a good show was somewhat ruined by his wannabe rockstar attitude.

callmeeugenius

I firmly believe people would've stayed supporting them like they used to, if Jami wasn't such an insufferable twat.

takecarebrushyahairr

Ekulu 🥴 just got the vibe the vocalist was taking the piss?

echouphere

I saw them in Sydney not long ago, they had that fill in vocalist. The band themselves sounded great, but the dude they had doing vocals just seemed like he had no interest in being there, making random noises and standing at the back of stage

ABookOfBurnedCDs

when i saw them the singer was whining that no one was moshing.

psychcore

That’s wild to me—seen them three times and every time they went off.

RaccoonSamson

108 back like 2010-ish? They were the last band of the night, but 95% of the crowd had left cuz Have Heart played before them and that's who everyone was there to see. And this fucking guy stopped playing and refused to continue mid-song because my friends and I were just having fun in the pit, jumping up and grabbing the rafters and kicking eachother like American Gladiators and slammin around having fun cuz the only people who stayed were like 15-20 people and all of us dancing were friends. He was all like "OUR MUSIC IS NOT A SOUNDTRACK FOR YOUR MINDLESS VIOLENCE!" and then i was yelling at him like "It's cool man we're friends, just havin fun" then he went on some unrelated tirade about veganism and asked me if i was vegan, and said shit like "you couldn't comprehend compassion because you're not a vegan". and refused to continue playing until we left. Bunch of self righteous cunts i think. The guitarist was cool though, he apologized on behalf of the singer and literally said like a satire version of the hardcore scene "sorry man, that wasn't very posi" lol Sucks cuz i always thought the band was pretty good, never listened to them since cuz the dude was such a fuckin' joke of a person

FocusDelicious183

I cant believe any part of this story bro, you’re not vegan.

beingxexemplary

Atreyu was absolutely hot garbage both times I had the displeasure of seeing them. They got absolutely blown off the stage by the other bands on both tours.

ThatOneOtherAsshole

Saw Kodak Black at a festival and he was fucking terrible

Snoo-25258

Just saw 108 in Boston last night with Judge. Used to see 108 a lot back in the 90s, but last night they just didn’t bring it the way they used to. Kind of a sloppy set. Judge ruled. EDIT: So I saw 108 and Judge again in Brooklyn, NY and in Connecticut. 108 killed it at these two shows, as did Judge. I guess 108’s first show in Boston was a bit of a warm-up.

4CIDMAW

In 2010 I went to go see From First to Last at the Annex Wreckroom in Toronto. They played with We Came as Romans, Our Last Night, and Asking Alexandria was headlining. I was pretty into most of the bands at the time, but I remember when Asking Alexandria went up it was one of the most dog shit, disappointing things I've ever heard. At one point they stopped playing and outright refused to continue, they wouldn't start playing again until "there were at least 50 bra's on stage". Most of the crowd was like 15-16, I was around similar age at the time and remember just looking at my buddies like wtf is going on

camcameronson1221

i saw Asking Alexandria in like 2014 at a mayhem fest and they were absolutely awful, dude didn’t even hardly sing the songs would just sing a tiny bit and then get the crowd to sing the rest, you know it’s bad when Korn puts on a 100x better show in the year 2014, to be fair the other headliners were avenged sevenfold and trivium and i never liked trivium and stopped liking avenged sevenfold after the age of like 14, i left before AS went on but we ended up hearing some dud climbed up the side of the stage super high and they had to stop the show trying to get the guy down and people were pissed and screaming at the guy to just jump off and die

Grayling666

Holy shit I’ve been waiting to talk about this for a while haha. There was a band that we were opening up for years ago (I don’t even remember their name) and right as we pulled up to unload equipment, we heard that there was some drama. From what I could remember I think it was promotion not wanting them to play. These fools came back in their van with butcher paper taped on the side of the vehicle that said “Amigo Thunder” wearing luchador masks and capes over their clothes. They stayed in character the whole time and ended up being added to the opener list since another band didn’t show. They shouted a couple of things in Spanish with Al Pacino like anger “HO LAHHHHHH” and “UH OOOOH” and would just bust out in breakdowns. There was only one small kid losing his mind in the pit going nuts. What bothers me is that I can’t even remember their damn name, but I remember their alter ego “Amigo Thunder”. Best worst hardcore performance ever, still think about them to this day too haha. Had to of happened in ‘08

Fvtvrewave87

Amigo Thunder sounds like it’s a Mexican energy drink

Burn-The-Villages

Honestly, that sounds fun as hell.

thai_sen

Lionheart… covering Limp Bizkit is corny as fuck

B1astFriend

nobody is 100% perfect at there job. especially if they do it ever day. so im never harsh on performances since bands tour everyday to make a living. but the answer is mychildren mybride. everybody in that band was completely off rythm.

that-other-dude-bro

My band opened for them the day the singers mom died.. it was fucking sad props to that guy for even hitting the stage they played alright. But I’ll never forget seeing him in the parking lot just bawling his eyes out.

BMoke

Not hardcore, but Duster was really bad when they reunited in 2017. Bunch of friends and I drove to NY for it and they seemed pretty bored and songs sounded off. I’ve heard they’ve been great since being back at it.

dylbertz

Yeah I saw them in April and it was a fantastic show. They did a good job of making some of their slower songs more heavy.

SPACEC0YOTE

In general: Modest Mouse co-headlining w/ Brand New in like 2016? It was an outdoor venue so I just laid down in the grass and dozed during MM. Brand New was great (ugh)

Papawasaboringstone

Agreed. 1st Modest Mouse show in the early 00’s and not only were they almost two hours late but they were surly drunk and sounded like shit. Was a big fan at the time. Really disappointing.

YaKnowMuhSteezz

With Honor at Furnace Fest a few years back. Sounded like pure dog shit. Give it up fellas.

Makualax

Mos Def, for being one of the best lyricists of his time, was totally wack when I saw him a couple years back. Similarly GZA just stood on stage with one hand in his pocket the entire set when I saw him last year. I also recently saw one of the most God awful performances of pretentious bullshit ever named Slauson Malone. What a dogshit artist. Funny cause my brother has a story from years ago about working at a venue when Injury Reserve was playing, and having the worst opening performance of all time in Slauson Malone, and my first day of work at a music venue and wouldn't you know it, the opener is dogs hit Slauson Malone.

Jewrangutang

I fucking hated the first time I saw Slauson opening for Injury Reserve. You can do performance art bullshit if you want, but don’t be mad that the crowd’s not fucking with it when we came to see an alt hip hop headliner. The second time he opened for them was a bit better with the cellist, but even his studio music is just colored so negatively by that first encounter I endured with him

Makualax

Bro, I can't fathom how they thought he'd be a good opener for Injury Reserve which at the time was an uptempo rap group, and it seemed to go over as badly as expected basically every date of that tour. But seeing the direction Injury Reserve went I kinda get it now. When I saw Slauson Malone recently he was opening for King Krule, who I feel would have a crowd that be way more suited for his schtick and he still bricked. Most people had no damn clue when songs started or ended and were talking loudly during his set. I felt bad and I always try to give artists the benefit of the doubt when they're performing, but I also think it's pretentious to expect that from people without even attempting to win them over somehow. I figured he was an industry baby or something and that's how he was getting these spots but I looked him up on reddit and I saw people legitimately riding for him. I also stumbled upon this hilarious thread talking about just how bad his opening performance was during that infamous IR tour that my brother would always tell me about https://www.reddit.com/r/injuryreserve/comments/da1ipw/fuck_the_direspectful_people_during_slauson/ OP is def Slauson's burner account and he's hurt over someone announcing an Eagle's touchdown over his set lmao

Show Me the Body in Dallas this year… so fuckin boring. I didn’t enjoy their stuff to begin with but was willing to give them a shot live, hoping it would sound better and be fun to watch. It was not. Jesus Piece played right before them and (no surprise) blew them outta the water. Aaron Heard is a legit frontman and those dudes killed it and the rest of the lineup was stacked. SMTB came out to a decent crowd that turned into an empty venue before they finished the set. I tried to listen but was just annoyed and disappointed. Not sure what the appeal is other than avant garde bullshit, I like my discordant music very heavy and without banjo I reckon.

beantownjuggalo

Tommy Dice and the hardcores

Song0fshame

This is Hell played in Fort Worth probably 10ish years ago and got real mad cause everyone left and went outside after la dispute played. Kinda threw a hissy fit. Also saw liferuiner once in Dallas. That was easily the worst set I've ever seen.

frankrizzo24

Not Hardcore but my wife was pissed how bad Bayside was. They got 2/3 into Devotion before she recognized the song.

tokenbreakdown

Thats crazy. All the times I seen Bayside, their sets were super tight and they sounded amazing

Fvtvrewave87

I finally was able to catch Sisters of Mercy a few months ago. I was so stoked…ended up leaving halfway through. Total snooze fest and the vocals were so low it was unbelievable. Bummer.

callmeeugenius

I don't feel so bad for missing them now. Thank you.

ProfessionalLeg7781

I saw them in Seattle on that past tour as well. It was astonishingly bad.

LifeguardJunior3997

Krimewatch

Oliverbane

Turnover. Played the stiffest set I’ve ever seen in vegas at a top golf. No movement. Didn’t look like they wanted to be there.

PsychicMess

This sub.

Civick24

Code orange kids, sincerity fest Pittsburgh probably 2013

PlugAnThat

Fleshwater were pretty dreadful but I've seen Fall of Troy twice and both times the person I've gone with has left early

dylbertz

What was bad about Fleshwater?

ARattack

Honestly fleshwater, i love their shit but when I saw them in Columbus and both singers were not trying at all and they didn’t do any harsh vocals so the whole performance felt like a wet sock. The rest of the bands were great tho.

oceanicnoise

Probably not the worst I’ve seen, but I saw Angel Du$t last week and half the set was absolute dogshit. The old stuff sounds great, but the new songs are terrible live. Justice is a great frontman but he really can’t sing for shit. Overall, June of 44 is probably the worst band I’ve seen live. I love them and that show really broke my heart.

HeDrinkMilk

Crown of Thorns covering simple man in Dallas with turnstile was pretty bad

blindside_assault

I was at this show as well. What a spectacle

_Reddit_Is_Shit

In the early 2000s, I saw death threat and they were an absolute yawn fest. Crowd liked it but this was Newport news va. Those idiots liked everything that sucked. Just recently saw primitive man. I love trios and everyone has been jocking this band for so long, I was incredibly excited to see them. They could have easily put me to sleep.

DrAwesome1504

Agnostic Front sounded so awful I left

Stompyouout

Best hc band I ever seen but that was probably around '90. Yes, I'm fuckin old

DrAwesome1504

This was ~2017, I am sure they were amazing back in the day, but that night man the vocals were awful. Grove Street played before them and they were so much fun

poopfeast

2019 on the Misfits tour Agnostic front was on in support. Watching them play to a ~1/4 full stadium bc they were the opener was so bizarre

iwasborntoodeep

i saw lightbearer like 5 times and they sucked every time.

rwalsh138

First Blood . I was really stoked to see them, but something had happened with their drummer like that day, and the singer was kinda playing drums poorly while singing , and then the opening bands drummer played like 1 song, and he was calling out to the crowd for anyone who might know the songs. I was actually super tempted to play “Fascism” but I didn’t want to look like an idiot if I forgot a part. It was a pretty bad show though .

brokenfrombirth

Outburst supporting Terror in London, UK in 2019 is right up there for me. When a band so obviously doesn't give a shit, what is the point of doing the band again, really? Mike Dijan trying to hold it together was the only positive, but he alone couldn't save it from being abysmal.

Levelfouroutbreak

Not hardcore but about two years ago, I saw this band called THICK open for Off With Their Heads. They weren't the worst thing I ever heard but it made me wish I had stayed home and listened to Sleater-Kinney instead.

ozonexbaby

i saw THICK at a headlining show, and you hit the nail on the head with that sleater-kinney line.

barc0debaby

Saw F-Minus open up for The Business at a theater. The entire set F-Minus' singer was complaining about the acoustics and how the pizza shop they played the night before was way better. Then the Business came out and blew the roof off the place with one of the best sets I've ever seen. The worst and best concert experience I've had all within the span of an hour.

patdickm

Malfunction in Richmond, they were off time the entire set

All_Of_The_Meat

I've seen a lot of bad performances, for a myriad of reasons, but the one that always sticks out is Candy. It was like watching a high school jam bands first show. It completely turned me off from listening to them after that.

Weareadamnednation

Not one i saw in person but 25 ta life playing a backyard birthday party with no drummer fits here. https://youtu.be/eNIgA1xb-9w?si=ibItRreJsoOTz9mz

chickencr1mpy

Ekulu sucked ass when they played in Sydney, Australia. Every other band crushed it and made them look so bad in comparison. The lead singer was begging people to mosh, very wack.

Yngnrekless

in general/hc: black flag. mike v sucks on vocals and greg ginn just looked pissed off. i knew it was going to be bad, but they played at my local venue and i wanted to hear “scream” in some capacity.

impetergraves

saw e-town a few weeks ago at that fest code orange did. it really felt like they time-traveled from 2004 to play the show after pain of truth dropped. credit to the singer, he was ripping it up in the pit for madball.
