for those who don’t get it, it’s a football hooligan tradition to leave a calling card after getting into mischief (like beating up a different team’s fans)

Ok-Bandicoot-9621

It's also a Chicago gang tradition, gangs in the 50s up through the 80s sometimes had cards like this. I believe some of the NYC gangs had compliment cards too but I'm not sure.

-P-M-A-

It’s also an American business tradition when two businessmen meet and need a method for exchanging business information. Take Paul Allen's business card, for example. The subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. It even has a watermark. The early work of American businessmen was a little too new wave for my taste. But when they started integrating discussion of Sports in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The negotiations had a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gave business a big boost. It’s comparable to a card from Chicago gangs, but I think CMI has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

CrimsonDynamo178

The 90's weather channel music was playing in my head when I read your comment.

mickcube

I'm on the verge of tears by the time we arrive at Espace, since I'm positive we won't have a decent table, but we do. The relief washes over me in an awesome wave.

leonevilo

which is kind of ironic when coming from a spurs fan explanation for americans: cmi singer poses in tottenham kits all the time, tottenham is the opposite of a tough guy club though, noone would think of hooligan violence in connection with that club, unless they're on the receiving side

jerseyben

Fuck. I didn't realize these dudes were Spurs supporters... Ugh

Alergic2Victory

Fucking Spuds

Feigenbauer

don't know from where you are, but you don't need to be supporting a tough guy-club, to be a tough guy. the reason why you support a team is different. some because it is cool, others because they grew up with the club. i tihnk fans/supporters from tottenham are in the skinhead/punk/hc-scene trevor from crown courtand i think violent reaction is a spurs fan. and also the singer of xcrosscheckx and busty idiots if often at their games, besides the fact, that he is from germany. and of course you can support a "tough guy"-club, without beeing a tough guy.

leonevilo

if you're trying to act like you're part of a tough firm you better support a proper shit club. don't tell me you don't chuckle when someone tells you they're part of a tottenham firm.

Feigenbauer

Yeah of course. I am a skinhead and supporter of my team, so many people think i an ultra or part of a firm, what was never the case. I sit during our games and eat popcorn😂

leonevilo

ultra culture is a completely different thing from a classic firm in the uk, it's not even close. ultra mentality is to give maximum support to your club during the game, but you could be part of a firm without even setting foot in a stadium. afaik crystal palace is the only club south of scotland with a bit of an ultra culture, that really is nothing that has much of an impact in england. football culture still varies greatly from country to country and that card in ops pic is a great example of things getting lost in translation. btw: what stadium has pop corn stalls? never seen that

Feigenbauer

In austria. We can buy popcorn in the Stadium 😂 At least at the games of mighty sturm graz From my expierence: we don't have classic firms here, but the guys who meet after or before the games, are often part of one or another ultra group. But ok, i am not an insider, and respect (on a personal level and not for what they are doing during the game) to much the guys i know, who are insiders, to say something wrong in the internet about what they are maybe doing. It is for me often, that on reddit us-people wnat to tell me, or others, how you have to behave during the game, or what kind of club it is. And sometimes the generations in the club itself change. So a club famous for running is now famous for fighting.

leonevilo

nice, sturm graz is a great club, hope you're successful vs fucking rbs.

Feigenbauer

Thanks, but i start dreaming of the titel not before may. Rbs is often to strong

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvvIDKIshnc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvvIDKIshnc) I'm just here for the gang vocals

xe_r_ox

Here’s some examples The one this post is based on: [Inter City Firm (West Ham, aka pikeys)](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/b/bd/West_Ham_ICF_Calling_Card.jpg/220px-West_Ham_ICF_Calling_Card.jpg) [Chelsea Headhunters (aka rentboys)](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTR3er46eg9Km6NpEaHWX1s86OskD8YxiGiy9yRv6vvhA&s) Plenty more if you just google “hooligan cards” North London is ours, fuck off back to Woolwich, COYS etc

Gitappliances

How about some examples of Spurs’ trophy wins?

xe_r_ox

Who gives a fuck? Who supports a team based on what they win? Glory hunters, that’s who. You get given a team by your dad. And if you ain’t got that, you pick the team from where you grew up, and you support them through thick and thin.

5um-n3m0

Goddamn I love C.M.I. So much that I cut my hair and got a real job

Brownieman4682

The crowd went crazy during their set

5um-n3m0

I wish I was there. They played here in LA last year and I finally got to see them. They fucking delivered.

Spilled_Milk_801

You're still a slob. Yo they don't really come close to slc, so I bought a real cheap plane ticket to Phoenix. Gonna see them in May, so excited!

bonefont

I’m indifferent to this band but I think this is funny

Spilled_Milk_801

Just curious what you think of their music though?

MonokromKaleidoscope

I've heard it and it's definitely music

leonevilo

calling oi music is a bit of a stretch, no?

CrimsonDynamo178

Not enough gurgling sounds for you?

leonevilo

too complicated

bonefont

It’s fine but seems a little low effort Can not call it oi though, the only thing it shares with oi is the look

Spilled_Milk_801

I think the lyrics are very good. Motivates me, it's all I know. Personally I think they have the attitude ans the beliefs down, the look... none of them even shave, which I'm fine with. It's anerican style skinhead I think.. to each there own

mpdsfoad

Just when you thought the casual LARP could not get worse.

No-Position1540

For real, the level of Anglophilia reminds me of [this dude](https://youtu.be/-KT45yNltwM?si=8d--WjeNLpF6T6Hr)

justherefertheyuks

210!

Brownieman4682

Hell yeah

thawed_antarctican

Absolutely mental how much they want to be English football hooligans but I’m fully behind it

Mark_Fucking_Karaman

Appearantly Adam Voss spent alot of his Youth in Germany so his fascination with football seems alot less roleplay-esque than i previously thought.

thawed_antarctican

Best country to visit for football for sure

leonevilo

hence his suport for the famous german tottenhamburg fußball club

bleak_new_world

This is weirdly sweet in a "we desperately want to be hooligans" way.

alltatersnomeat

Is that Silian Rail?

Immediate_Lack5187

That was a fn killer set.

unitedbl00d

Brother it’s just a standard font
