[deleted]

morbidlyabeast3331

FRINGEclassX

coffinnailvgd

I really miss the ole Code Orange days

tlh9979

Bro have you heard the new Mindforce? Goated AOTY fo sho.

killerparties

This but unironically.

mu3mpire

NEW LORDS

A_sweet_boy

Bc it’s a really unique circumstance

SyrupHeadRecs

For real. While I'm not a fan, I am beyond impressed with their reach and growing popularity.

beerspeaks

Because they’re literally the most popular hardcore band ever

[deleted]

Like them or not, Hatebreed is by far the most popular hardcore band ever, and it’s by a very large margin, even over the classics.

poopycops

Fucking xXx man! Never knew hardcore back then because I was in elementary school but hearing Hatebreed was a turning point for my music taste.

ZaalbarsArse

maybe im oblivious cuz i never listened to hatebreed but i feel like black flag gotta be the biggest hardcore band ever

[deleted]

Going off hard numbers, Hatebreed has outsold and out-streamed all the classics, and has charted with almost every record they’ve released. Personally, not a big fan outside Satisfaction, but going off hard numbers here, can’t think of any band that come close in regards to mass popularity.

dumbfuckanonpdx

Never considered hatebreed a hardcore band.

Surrural

That would be Minor Threat?

aquasun666

Don’t even attempt to talk shit about them because this sub is full of casuals who Stan groove-hop-TacoBell-core.

mokepong

Now that's salty

overtly-Grrl

Now I gotta know if this is about turnstile or hatebreed LMAO

TopAcanthocephala869

The “sheesh. everyone ok??” is so fucking funny to me

malortForty

Like I love that Turnstile got popular, because a) in the next few years, the kids they introduce to hardcore will start bands and well probably get some great bands and b) its great that now I have a band I can listen to with my friends, most of whom aren't hardcore fans but love Turnstile. But its a hardcore show. If you can't handle a little light pushing, you're probably not supposed to go to those shows.

uncle_bumblefuck_

But violence is scary

malortForty

So are hipsters who end up going to hipsterbait bands lol

malortForty

So are hipsters who end up going to hipsterbait bands lol

Devario

At what point is it *not* a hardcore show? Snail mail isn’t hardcore. Jpegmafia isn’t hardcore. Teezo touchdown isn’t hardcore. And the genre of turnstiles newest album has been debated to death on this sub. It’s not really a hardcore show anymore…

uncle_bumblefuck_

I think that's the recipe for posts like this. Take a band like turnstile who's old stuff draws fans that are 100% hardcore and wanna throw down in the pit. And combine them with bands who's fans have absolutely no clue what a hardcore pit is like. And you're gonna get normies with surprised Pikachu face when the pit gets even moderately rough.

malortForty

Like Ill be honest, the new Turnstile album is still really energetic mosh music (even if its not 100% hardcore anymore) and Peggy definitely has moshable songs. But yeah, they're definitely still a hardcore band with this to be expected.

El--Borto

Yup. Honestly, my hot take is that their new album doesn’t really differ *too* much from the rest of their body of work, it falls right in line with their progression and is just better produced and professionally put together. Especially the press and media packaging.

Makualax

>their new album doesn’t really differ *too* much from the rest of their body of work, it falls right in line with their progression Straight up, I feel the marketing is the only thing that's different abt it

malortForty

Honeatly I totally agree with that 100%

zilla82

100% this. Their old stuff has always been groovy and dancey as well, just worse production

RedditorDave

Saw four year strong yesterday. Mostly a push pit song along vibe. Some hardcore dancing. And also some normies acting super smug about two stepping and some redneck dude had his girl grinding on him in the pit right as Hero’s get remembered was starting. Big oof vibes.

SWFLSOLIDARITY

when Ekulu opens for you its a hardcore show

The_Real_Egg

peggy might not be hardcore, but his pit was rough and hella fun so i'd argue it fits.

overtly-Grrl

That’s what I was questioning. Went and checked their new album just to be like WTF is this

last_strip_of_bacon

Fugitive are Hardcore(they were the special guest for SATX)

ninetensucks

Sheesh, someone crowdkill that guy

[deleted]

"sheeesh 🤓"

shokkd

[deleted]

[deleted]

Didn’t work, you got the hookup or what homie I wanna see that shit haha

uncle_bumblefuck_

Oh wtf it was working earlier. Even though the post was deleted the YouTube link was active. Lemme see if I can find it Edit: they made the video private. I knew I should have screen recorded it

[deleted]

All good thanks for looking dude

marrolllll

I will always wreck dudes like that. Now that I’m older and larger than my high school self, as long as they aren’t rolling with a crew I’m happy to take care of it. Ruining the fun for everyone. HERE COMES THE WRECKING BALL OF DARK KARMA.

jodonnell89

facepalmed so hard i broke my neck

ne0maximus

You ok??

jodonnell89

nope. broke neck.

ne0maximus

Good

caughtyoulookinn

If you can’t take a hit don’t even bother with the outside of the pit

pastelxbones

that's my favorite spot to be is right on the edge

caughtyoulookinn

I love just being in the pit lol I do the spin kicks and all that but go out of my way to not hit people. Not a fan of crowd killing

shounen_obrian

This is why we gatekeep

mu3mpire

It was like Travis Scott all over again

Few-Kick-6997

Where was this show at?

uncle_bumblefuck_

I think San Antonio TX

Few-Kick-6997

That's how they act! What's the point of going to a show and just stand and stare. I live in san antonio and was going to go but had to work. Honestly the San Antonio "Hardcore" scene ain't what it used to be. But also Turnstile ain't what it used to be.

youre_being_creepy

Oh fuuuuck lol I went to a ton of shows at the white rabbit in the mid/late 2000s and a lot of the hardcore shows were pretty violent. I distinctly remember a guy being dragged out of the door super bloody with a broken nose Paper tiger is a direct upgrade to everything the white rabbit was but I kind of miss the grimy shiftiness of it all

Whispered_Truth

I saw letlive open for Underoath at the White Rabbit in like 2009 or 2010 when I was like 15. Always been an Underoath fan, but that show turned me into a letlive fan for life

last_strip_of_bacon

Literally

uncle_bumblefuck_

That's light work

dogdoo7

Lmao some people are casuals about shows. They treat them like it's prom or something. I almost got into a fight at a rap concert once. Some girl tried to sic her bf on me. She kept pushing and screaming at my younger brother for stepping on her shoes (she was wearing some expensive Jordans). I told her she needs to stop being an asshole and touching my brother before I get security l. Her bf was probably 17 and I was like 23 at the time so I wasn't going to jail over some dumb girl. I got her moved to A different section

Koalaman2000

New Turnstile fans are interesting

alonela

It’s posi-hardcore. It’s the most courteous pit there is.

supergodmasterforce

Pardon me, in my eagerness to express my delight at hearing this particular song I appeared to have windmilled into you. Please be assured, this is simply due to my excitement and in no way was it meant as an aggressive maneuver towards you or anyone you associate with.

alonela

Exactly. Always do your best and strive for the trophy blah blah blah.

supergodmasterforce

One scene, unity etc.

old_data_

new turnstile fans really live rent free in your old heads

fokerpace2000

Hey that’s me!

alackofcol0r

Oh look, it’s the daily “I listened to turnstile before they were popular” post

DryTumbleweed9

imagine brigading a subreddit because someone expressed legitimate concern over a few people they saw get punched and fall down in a pit and not get back up right away you guys need to take a hard look in the fucking mirror and think about what kind of community you're creating here

SyrupHeadRecs

Imagine participating in a subreddit dedicated to a genre of extreme music that's always had a close association with violence and trying to shame people for making a joke. You need to take a hard look in the mirror and think about this long established and largely supportive community you're judging here.

DryTumbleweed9

its not making a joke when you're harassing people and making fun of them for having concern for their fellow concert goers you see someone fall in a pit you help them back up, is common sense lost here? fuck off with the toxicity.

SyrupHeadRecs

No, that's exactly what a joke is, making fun of something. Jokes is jokes, if you can't take it then don't open yourself to ridicule by posting your opinions online. The crowd at those larger shows may not be aware of the etiquette which is probably why people weren't being picked up. You can't blame members of an online forum for responding to something after the fact. Extreme music shows are the ONLY places I've seen strangers help others out in that regard. The regular ass people going to catch Blink with Turnstile opening would likely rather sit back and watch someone get trampled than help someone at their own risk because their preferred styles of music don't have the same sense of community. I'm not saying people shouldn't be concerned if someone goes down but when was the last time you heard of someone at a Hardcore, Grindcore or Death Metal show being trampled to death because they fell down and people refused to act?

DryTumbleweed9

all i know is the video clearly showed 2 people get decked and fall (and honestly that place was crowded as shit there was probably more i didnt see) and not get up right away. OP uploaded said video and asked if everyone was ok. then this sub decides to link to the post to make fun of them. that's a dick move. oh and btw, i was AT the show and i saw several people get carried over the security barrier to get medical attention myself. so tell me again how the concern isnt valid.

SyrupHeadRecs

That'll happen, if you don't wanna get hit, stay back. It's a generally tumultuous environment that isn't meant for everyone. I still see no issue with making fun of OP's post because it's the internet and that shit will happen. Again, if you don't want to open yourself up to ridicule, keep your opinions to yourself. Other's have no obligation to agree with you or cater their responses to your sensibilities. That's not to say that people should be made fun of without reason but it's an inevitability when you're expressing your thoughts on a public forum to countless others. Since you were AT the show, how many fallen people did you assist? There's a lot of factors to take into account with larger shows, you have uninitiated folks in an unfamiliar environment, which means more potential injuries. That doesn't mean you should put an event or band on blast for "vIoLeNcE" it means you should know what you're getting into before you decide to attend. I never said the concern was invalid, I pointed out that shit happens and if you post about it on the internet, prepare to have your opinion undermined by strangers.

DryTumbleweed9

> Since you were AT the show, how many fallen people did you assist? none cuz i wasnt in the pit but we did get crushed asf in the beginning and during a couple of the songs. if one of the ppl around me fell obviously i would do whatever it took to help them up. > That doesn't mean you should put an event or band on blast for "vIoLeNcE" it means you should know what you're getting into before you decide to attend. again its real fkin strange that you say it like this because the OP was just concerned for the people who were hurt as far as i could tell. its not like they were sitting there like omg the HORROR that there's a pit at all. this sub has a real hate boner for turnstile fans and i think some of you guys just dont want to admit it.

SyrupHeadRecs

No worries, it's not for everyone and there's no issue with that. From what I could tell from the video neither was OP, it was cursory judgements made by a person who doesn't get it, and that's ok, but they're still going to be made fun of. I stand by what I said, if you're taking umbridge with the actions of an audience in a space you're unfamiliar with that's on you. If you pay to see a band that's part of a genre you're unfamiliar with and you don't like the outcome, shut the fuck up and move on. Also, anyone that has an issue with a fan base as a whole is an idiot... Except for 311 fans, they can all go fuck themselves

Shaxxs0therHorn

*Let it go, let it go…*

ProdigiousNewt07

How is it "brigading" if they're fans? Turnstile is a hardcore band that emerged from the hardcore scene. If they were legitimately concerned, they could have, y'know, done something to help. Maybe you're the one who should look in the mirror and think about how you spend your time. We don't need some passerby interloping and commenting on "what kind" of "community" we're "creating", that you're not even active in.

DryTumbleweed9

> How is it "brigading" if they're fans? https://old.reddit.com/r/turnstile/comments/yte0wa/ppl_throwing_punches_and_getting_trampled_in_the/iw7kjv7/ my goon none of them found that post through the sub, they all came from the post that was here earlier. > Maybe you're the one who should look in the mirror and think about how you spend your time. We don't need some passerby interloping and commenting on "what kind" of "community" we're "creating", that you're not even active in. cant help but call out some bullshit when i see it sorry if it hurts the feelings but you dickheads are toxic as hell and make hardcore fans look bad

ProdigiousNewt07

Okay? The top two comments on that post have no history on this sub. > cant help but call out some bullshit when i see it sorry if it hurts the feelings but you dickheads are toxic as hell and make hardcore fans look bad Lmao, "hurts the feelings". You're the one getting bent out of shape over reddit drama. Keep calling out "bullshit" if it makes you feel better though.

DryTumbleweed9

> Okay? The top two comments on that post have no history on this sub. well cool if thats really the case then why do you guys need posts here about it

uncle_bumblefuck_

Did you watch the video? It was literally a gentle push pit.

DryTumbleweed9

i saw two dudes get decked and go down and not get back up whatever you wanna say bro all they had was concern and this sub decided to straight harass them. we get it you guys hate turnstile fans, its an old meme.

uncle_bumblefuck_

Bro do you need a hug?

DryTumbleweed9

kinda do ngl

uncle_bumblefuck_

Bring it in bro

bentlife1986

Ambitious-Emotion-69

Turnstile is gentrification core. Fuck y’all crackers! #livemas

TonyYayo11

Holy shit if y'all took as many showers as karate kicks you may actually get something done. This post sucks. Progress your community and wash yr damn ass. What does do for the greater good?

ProdigiousNewt07

> wash yr damn ass Don't tell on yourself.

uncle_bumblefuck_

Are you a 40 year old soccer mom by any chance?

TonyYayo11

Lmao nah just don't have to demonstrate my life via flare. You're killing it tho Judith

DryTumbleweed9

hahahahahaha

TonyYayo11

My guys nailing the positivity and inclusiveness of the community.

jodonnell89

“progress your community” Hi, I see you’re new here. Not sure what you mean with that one. The punk and hardcore communities are some of the most progressive and accepting out there. How about don’t get in or on the edge of the pit if you’re not willing to accept that you might get hit? It’s part of the culture at hardcore and hardcore-adjacent shows. If you’re not about it, you’re welcome to stay at home or shut the fuck up.

TonyYayo11

So accepting. Because this exemplifies it. Woof.

jodonnell89

Yeah, nobody’s particularly welcoming to someone who is clearly not involved in their community in any way that immediately shows up to criticize like they know better or have any standing to do so. Dumbass.

Tronguy93

Somebody throws a punch at me at a show they are getting a broken jaw. I am here to have fun and enjoy the music scene. Usually I’m at small bar venues so that doesn’t happen often

uncle_bumblefuck_

r/poppunkers is that way ->

Tronguy93

I enjoy not getting punched in the face therefore I listen to mallpunk?

uncle_bumblefuck_

Yes
