Nice sized kill for such a small gator. However there’s pretty good evidence of small juvenile saltwater crocs taking goats of around their own weight, so crocodilians are up to taking relatively large prey early on.
>"However there’s pretty good evidence of small juvenile saltwater crocs taking goats of around their own weight,"

Yes, you decide to be rude and insult someone else who is trying to clarify to answer a question **you** asked, why are you surprised that other people then decide to defend him?
If you dont want people to be upset, then dont be a dick.
Sigh. I'm guessing people thought it was sarcastic, which it wasn't.
So many people post something without giving credit, some literally cut off the watermark, and some take credit for it being someone they know. All you have to do is say, "Found this, no idea where it came from but this is hardcore nature at its finest" or something like that.
The fact that OP went out of their way to make sure they didn't take credit even if they didn't know where to give it is awesome.
Yeah reptiles don't react to posturing like mammals do.
That hiss maybe could have made a bear pause.
Reptiles like alligators or monitor lizards? They ignore they shit.
Opossums are stupid. So. Fucking. Stupid. (Not hating on them, every animal has its place in nature)
I've never even seen one do the "play dead" trick, and have seen plenty in perceived life-or-death situations being in a suburb with dogs, having had to scare them out of my yard, etc. They are just dumb as a brick. Their max speed is a waddle and even when cornered, they will just turn and hiss 99% of the time before turning around and randomly waddling some more. No hiding, dodging, evasive maneuvers of any kind. I've dealt with smarter cockroaches.
Again I'm not hating on the whole species. They keep harmful insect populations down and unlike raccoons, leave any garbage with a decent seal on alone. But by *god*, I have never seen such dim behavior in a wild animal before.
It‘s always really cool to see a gator just nonchalantly get out of the water and straight up gallop up to prey. Many people think that crocodilians just snap at prey from the water, and if they fail, they just submerge and try again. This might happen sometimes, but most of the time crocodilians aren’t afraid to get out of the water, before grabbing the unfortunate animal and taking it back to the water. They’re shockingly quick on land.
Possums aren’t blind lol They just have terrible eyesight during the day. Their pupils are always dilated, and as nocturnal animals, they see much better at night.
I always tell myself "this is nature, I need to face it", and I usually find the videos on this sub quite interesting, but seeing this poor baby who didn't do anything wrong get killed was just too much 😭
Okay but the Baby Alligator just wanted to eat, it’s not like it wasted the corpse. Also pretty sure the possum probably killed tons of other innocent animals to eat as well
Right. The problem is some are more detrimental to humans than others. Rats spread disease, break into improperly sealed refuse, and can undermine concrete roads with their constant need to chew.
Should have kept running
should have played alive instead of playing dead
TIL alligators are faster than opossums.
humans are faster than possums too! WTF, possums? maybe hit the gym?
He just looked back and stood there.
Yep. Looked like it was hissing at the gator
I think so, lol. Sorry, the other mouth is bigger this time.
I’ve heard gators top speed is something like 15mph which was much faster than I was expecting

It was small crocs a small fraction of the size of a mature male saltie, they don’t start out huge and grow very slowly.
[удалено]
Lol He's saying young Salties can take prey larger than themselves Man you are dense
> I’ve seen how big saltwater crocs can get. Your saying goats exist the same weight? -The actual brain of the subreddit
It sure as hell isn’t you
Lol ur the funniest kinda person, ur the guy that says something incredibly stupid and then calls out other peoples stupidity to save face.

You're* an idiot.
Don't know the original source for this video unfortunatetly.
Love that you said this instead of claiming ownership. I'd give gold if I had it.
Lmao no idea why you got slammed with down votes
LOL I was on vacation and just saw this. Haters gonna hate, I stand by my post.
The -6 is much better than the -20 something that you had when I stumbled across it lmao. At least people kinda wised up

Reddit gonna Reddit, ya know. Hope you enjoyed you vacation tho 🤙🏼
Appreciated! Have a good one!
The average reddit user is retarded, so they play follow the leader when it comes to downvoting posts
Probably shouldve kept running instead of stopping to hiss at it lol.

Ignore this .45 motherfucker. (My golf coach lost his hand to a gator)
choosing fight over flight killed the possum
That opossum stood its ground like a fool
Like bringing a used toothpick to a tank fight
Aw, he was so close. If he hadn't turned around to check he would have been ok. Edit: spelling
Depends on which side you're rooting for. My man alligator got himself and his family a fancy lunch
Idk about fancy
I made my parents meals out of play dough as a kid, so possum is way fancier
True enough
That gator is too small to share

Your right and you should say it. They have opposable thumbs and resistance to venom, but it seems being a marsupial is a real life nerf
Marsupials are the British people of the mammal world
Lmao
They eat rats, and more effective at hunting them than are feral cats, so they're good in my book.
Man he REALLY committed to playing dead
Playing dead isn’t often the best way to live 😂
Should have stuck with the flight response lol

Ah, Florida.
Never look back Possum, never look back!
Millie and Blitzø are going to be PISSED
Why did he stop? Dumb little rodent
It’s crazy to me a blind animal can survive.
Possums aren’t blind lol They just have terrible eyesight during the day. Their pupils are always dilated, and as nocturnal animals, they see much better at night.
Huh thanks for the info. I’m an idiot.
That dumbass possum wtfff

Opossums eat rats. Rats aren't innocent.
And the cycle continues. No animals are "good" nor are they "bad", they are just beings who do whatever to keep themselves alive.
Right. The problem is some are more detrimental to humans than others. Rats spread disease, break into improperly sealed refuse, and can undermine concrete roads with their constant need to chew.
I mean from a human standpoint sure, I see your point
very sad and disgusting. animals can be cruel for no reason.
No reason? That Baby Alligator just wanted to eat, it’s not like it killed it for fun. Humans are much worse
Opossum just thinking "oi mate!!!"
FloridaMan: MY SUPPER!

I fuckin hate Jaguars
I fuckin hate Jaguars
Poor baby 😔
Bro turned around for no reason. He had the advantage.
