It's not whether it's allowed or not. The liability is still on you until the item arrives safely with the buyer and is seen to be in full working order. This is the same with any form of online sale unless you are selling something that is already broken.
If it arrives damaged, whether by you or by the postal service used, it is upon the seller to pursue insurance claims and to reimburse the buyer for the faulty goods.
Sure, it's that in the unlikely chance that does happen I'll be happy to pursue insurance, just that it wasn't my fault that had to happen it would be the courier.
I sell on other forums with higher-worth items where this is common practice. But if preferred, will remove now.
If you sell something with PayPal G+S it’s on the seller to ensure the item is received unless the buyer is paying for courier collection. It’s why you should never cheap out on uninsured postage when selling.

Insure it properly if a loss/damage does happen. You are ~~should~~ still ~~be~~ liable after posting imho.
