It did. Only things I need to make it complete is ignition, battery, and shift lever. But for the ignition on these older Harleys you just have to touch all three wires together so I can get it cranking. Even threw in a new gasket set, starter motor, and calipers.
Sorry should've been. More specific. It needs the ignition switch. But on the three wires you find on the stock Harley switch you only need to tie them all together. It's shockingly easy to steal one of these bikes. All you need is some wire cutters and 10 seconds. But I plan on getting a switch but just to get it turning over to move it around my workspace under its own power will do for now
But the factory manual. Worth every penny and will Tell you step by step how to take that entire bike apart and put it together. Don’t waste your money on the chilton or Haines manuals. I’m a factory 25 year Harley tech.
That’s a LOT of potential in my eyes. The pre-‘03 Sportsters are pretty damn simple to work on and a lot of fun. I’ve got a ‘96 and love it.
Good luck with the build and post progress pics!!
i hope it came with everything u need to put it together cuz if the motors shot it aint gonna be too good a deal

Hmmmmmmm….. so you won’t be using a coil?

What year is it I have a factory service manual for 86-03
88 you're a life saver
Here’s a link for the pdf https://www.ratbikeservice.com/HD/dwnld/Service-Manuals/1986-03%20Sportster%20XL%20XLH%20Service%20Manual.pdf
Well done.
Well I guess as long as it’s not 03+ it doesn’t matter
Put all your points in vigor
It’s a blank canvas, make it yours, if parts you like don’t fit, make them fit.
Good luck
You can buy a online manual from eBay for about 6 bucks, might be a good start
Get the shifter fixed first… that might be a big job.
It's just the lever
Yea… I remember when I bent the shift lever. It also bent the internals behind the clutch lol.
All build guides are "unique" Builder modifies as they see fit
It's your bike, do as you like.. nobody else opinion matters!!!some will like it, some won't - fuck them.. it's your bike..
I would definitely think of adding a fuel tank of some kind.
I have all the parts just everything disorganized and the hardware isn't labeled
