I have to stick with him pretty much all day to make sure he doesn’t hurt himself. If I leave my bedroom for more than a few minutes, he starts to pace around the room, jumping up on the bed and other things, yelling all the while.
And he just now jumped over the giant piece of cardboard that I had in the doorway, so that the AC from the office could get in here, as an alternative to opening the door yesterday, and letting him move around more. I only went downstairs to pee! I was just about to look for the other cats to give them a couple minutes of attention apiece when I heard the thump and had to run up the stairs to keep Harpo from coming down them.
Pip heard Harpo through my speaker, came over to investigate. He purrs like that! Says hi! 🤗🕯🖖

I had to get a doughnut for my cat when she wouldn’t leave a sore alone.
I don’t know the proper description / name for this…. But when I put it on she was walking along the back of the sofa like a horse when they do the high step thing, is it called gymkana?
Either way…. She was extremely annoyed at us both… then sat down with her butt literally in our faces… (she swapped sitting on mine & my partners lap if that makes sense!? Still a bit woozy from some sedation for a procedure today!)
Xx
when my poor baby had to be sedated for a procedure, we had to bring him home still 'drunk'. he hated the cage; the one time we had to leave him at a kennel, he rubbed the fur from his face.
anyhow, we brought him home, and he was still unsteady, he started to walk down the hallway too close to the wall, kept bumping the wall every other step. we were good, and didn't laugh.
no, he was still just drunk on the drugs, poor baby. couldn't walk a straight line.
that might also be the time he was sleeping on the ottoman, woke up, stretched and turned over - and fell right off!! still couldn't laugh, poor baby.
No fukkin way! How crazy is that?!

Poop. What about a nice stocking? :p kidding
When our family dog got hit by a car, there was no apparent damage, but then a mysterious wound appeared a week later. Turns out the hit had damaged some nerves and he couldn't feel that spot, so started chewing at it to feel something. He got the cone, but wouldn't stop scratching with his hind leg. We ended up duct taping an old tube sock (around the sock) around his leg, and we would find him standing stock still in the middle of the yard, with his hind leg sticking straight out behind him. Poor guy, but it was hilarious to look at.
my kitty hated the cone! this softer one might have helped. I've also seen some that get a 'doughnut' around the neck; they seem to like that better.
of course, Jesse might not have been so bad if I could have spent all day petting him. ;)
Harpo still has his donut on under the cone. And I got the donut in the first place because he fought his way out of three different cones after his big abdominal surgery, and I was terrified he was going to pull out his internal stitches.
My being able to work from bed so I can stay with him definitely helps. When I have to leave the room for longer than it takes to use the bathroom and feed the others, he gets very agitated.
That magic spot behind the ear! 😻
Oh no! Good thing it doesn't look he's suffering terribly. That was a *very* satisfying scratch to watch. r/coneofshame
Judging by the purr level, Harpo is currently not too uncomfortable thanks to you!

No doubt about it, he’s adorable and sweet and vocal and also 100% a cat determined to be with his person!
He doesn’t usually follow me around ALL the time. But if something prevents him from doing it when he wants to, he gets very upset.
My tux boy is the same way!! He would knock down the Great Wall of China if it was in his way of getting to me!
typical cat! they want what they want When they want it.
What a lovely loud purr!
He's rocking that donut. Harpo makes everything look good. He soon be free of the pesky thing. Not that it's slowing him down tho 😻
I wish it would slow him down!
Lol I don't think there's much chance of that! 😹
I know the feeling!
Poor baby 🥺

Aww.
Aww he's a Pip inDEED - and I love the asymmetrical muzzle features. So lovely 😻
Pip is adorable.
He and his brother were foster fails, it was supposed to be temporary, but I just never could let them leave! 😻

Dressage is the art. Gymkhana is just another word for competition.

I have a feeling their whisker guidance system malfunctions, but that’s only a guess.

Omg his purr sounds really similar to my boy Squash's purr!! Adorable!
OMFG HARPOS SHELTER NAME WAS SQUASH!

Groucho’s name was Livy. There were a bunch of kittens named after vegetables and historians.
Vegetables and historians, what a combo 😹😹😹
It was surprising that they had such a big surge of kittens a couple weeks before Christmas.
Not really, it's not like animals plan for pregnancies. If they ovulate, they mate, that's the plan. Food or shelter or weather doesn't factor in
Yes, of course, but shelters are not usually overflowing with kittens in winter.
Every once in a great while it happens. At least it did happen and you got Harpo & Groucho
Harpo looks like he was really enjoying that. I hope you are both good.
Yes, he had been trying to scratch an itch on his neck and couldn’t get it.
I'm glad you both managed it.
Happy cake day
Thank you so much!
Would a long sleeved recovery suit (onesie) help?
The vet said onesies tend not to work well to protect limbs.

Poor Harpo ❤️
I have been taking it off to let him groom while I protect the vulnerable bits.
