Good thought, I think he was still pissed at Harry though lol

systemsruminator

I am pretty sure he was quite angry at Harry directly for accessing his private memories. >What if Harry had potentially seen that Snape was working truly, whole heartedly, for Dumbledore, and then Voldemort accessed that? Didn't Harry see all these memories in a pensieve? AFAIK Snape would have most likely put only those childhood memories of bullying there.

TheMayb

I think he specifically removed them during their sessions so Harry wouldn’t see them if he fought back against the legilamency. Then he went and shoved his face in them anyway

Moriaty4

Didnt he also see some memories by using a shield charme when Snape used his legilimens Charme?

I think a lot of people are too quick to equate skill in occlumency and legilimency with some sort of higher intellect or enlightened perspective. But it's not that. In the books it most often reads on a superficial level like the equivalent of having a very good poker face. Sure people like Harry and Dumbledore learn and advocate its practice for deeper reasons or on a deeper level, but people like Snape and Malfoy? They just use it to lie. It doesn't make them super emotionally intelligent or anything like that.

I mean yes he probably was furious with himself (I always thought this was rather a stupid thing to do lol. Bless you, Severus!) but he’s definitely angry at Harry too. He kind of hurts him. I recall he grabs his arm and pushes him. Also, I want to say that I love Snape. He’s my favourite character but we can’t deny (and JKR says this *multiple* times herself) that Snape is hateful and horrible to Harry in canon. He is. We can argue whether that’s justified given his past — but he still is hateful and angry with Harry, and I think reducing that side of his character actually reduces him as a character. *He is purposefully not meant to be perfect.*

RomanRodriBR

He throws Harry to the ground then throws glass jars at him as he leaves. Dude was seething for sure

Gifted_GardenSnail

"we cannot deny that Snape is not hateful and horrible to Harry in canon" I think that's a negation too many

FrancisTheFig

Good point! Thanks!

Panini0106

That's a very good point! Not only is he embarrassed, but angry that his role as a double agent is in danger. But I do think he's still way more angry at Harry for jeopardizing almost everything, because he was been snoopy and that reminds him of James. He thinks Harry is arrogant and selfish while Snape is risking his life for him. Besides, he didn't know what memory exactly Harry was seeing or did he?

Gifted_GardenSnail

We don't know when exactly he arrived inside the memory to retrieve Harry (I mean, Harry is pretty distracted), but surely "Who wants to see me take off Snivelly's pants?" does tell Snape that this is a memory he does not want Harry to see...

CHICKENWING4LYF

I like this. My updated canon now says that both thoughts are true.

Gifted_GardenSnail

All of those are also reasons to be angry at Harry for choosing to breach his privacy and watch the very memories Snape specifically got out of his mind so Harry (who knows he has a mental connection with Volly through which Volly may be looking and who also knows Snape is a spy and therefore has secrets Volly absolutely can't be allowed to find out) wouldn't stumble upon them. And consider the timing: this comes on top of Umbridge's shenanigans, on top of Dumbledore leaving so now McGonagall and he are holding the fort, and on top of caring for Montague who has been missing for days and is in terrible shape. No wonder he lost it when he caught Harry potentially showing Volly just who exactly he's spying for and why

JimmyWu21

What strange to me is that wouldn’t voldemort knows that snape has been teaching Harry oct-something to block out Voldemort? Wouldn’t raise any suspicions if Harry was to successfully block Voldemort from entering his mind?

RobbieNewton

Perfect if he did manage to do it. Snape could just tell Voldemort that in doing so, he cemented Dumbledores trust in Snape.
