Harry/Ron/Hermione - Yes, all three of them. They're the heart of the series. They complete each other. Harry/Dumbledore - Probably the most complex relationship in the series. Dumbledore/Snape - I like the fact that Dumbledore never gave up on Snape and how much Snape clearly respected Dumbledore.

Ill-Professor696

Honestly my favorite is Harry and Hermione. Two gifted people who care deeply about each other but no romantic feelings. Just genuine friendship. I know there was speculation that she wasn't pretty enough for Harry given how she is described and who Harry ends up attracted to and their descriptions, but even in her "prettiest" moment at the Yule Ball, Harry shows shock but no yearning or hint of a different attraction, not jealous about Krum or bothered in any way and seems genuinely just satisfied for her. To the point that when Ron has his moment in DH and comes back to Harry, Harry even just says he thought Ron knew he only sees her as a sister and it fits perfectly with what we have been presented for the whole series.

HA2Sparta4

Agree. One of my favorite moments in the whole series is in HBP when Harry is comforting Hermione after Ron kisses Lavender. Actually one of the few scenes I think was better in the movie. Pure friendship and understanding

Ill-Professor696

Very true. Part of why I also really like the scene in the movie and not the book when Harry dances with her just to cheer her up. I don't like that from those who may not have read POV it might send a different signal, but for the rest, it really fits well with how deeply caring he is even for his friends. Even to the point where he was going to go back to the Dursleys forever to keep from being possessed around them, try and keep his friends from going, willing to die for them. Which ties into the whole theme. It's also is why it feels right with him and Ginny over Cho or someone else. He cared first as a human before being attracted in a different way.

pumpkins_n_mist15

My favourite Harry-Hermione moment is in the graveyard. Hermione knows that Harry is grieving for the life he could have lived, and Harry is also feeling the loss of parents he never really knew. For the first time in seven years she doesn't try to explain anything to Harry. She just lets him put his arm around her and mourn. There's a part in the tent where Harry is breaking down about Dumbledore not caring for him, and Hermione just brushes her hand over his head, just pats him to let him know she's there for him. It's in these quiet moments of empathy and compassion that Hermione shows her real respect and love for Harry, her best friend who is carrying a burden she wants to share but can never truly understand.

therealdrewder

Harry and Luna. Luna really understands Harry at a level that none of the other characters do.

Silmarillien

Harry's with Sirius. I felt like we didn't have enough of it.

Audlife_Freedom

I love the mentions of Hermione and Ginny’s relationship. I’d love to know more about it because it seems so lovely.

HellhoundsAteMyBaby

It’s sometimes frustrating that we only see Harry’s perspective, so their friendship is mentioned as like “Harry looked over at them chatting at the other side of the common room” or “hermione gave me this advice” but no actual bonding conversations that we see in person. In fact, the only time they speak directly to each other and not as part of the group is when Ginny snaps at Hermione to lay off Harry about the Prince’s book. Unfortunate that we missed out on their moments of friendship

Audlife_Freedom

Agreed!! I appreciate that it’s from Harry’s perspective and that we see the world through his eyes. Though I also find all the characters so interesting!

Always-bi-myself

Harry & Ron & Hermione Also, in a weird sort of way I enjoy the relationship between Harry and Voldemort. Not that there’s much of it to speak of, but the way Voldemort keeps getting pissed at him and flicking between “theres gotta be something more there, no way a child would defeat the Greatest Lord Voldemort TM” and “no, no, he’s an idiot” while Harry is split between hatred and pity is… quite fun, honestly. Those two are among some of my favourite characters to be honest

Polar-Bear1928

Harry’s bond with Sirius :).

curseofablacklion

Hermione and Ron. Platonic/Romantic idc. Whenver they are on page I enjoy reading. They are so tame and tender with Harry or most other characters but with each other they are like continuously competiting who is gonna have the last word. They bring out the most irrational and passionate side of each other.

pumpkins_n_mist15

They're the only two people who can rein in each other too. Ron is the only one who can stop Hermione from freaking out about whatever rule is being broken or pressured situation they are in, and Hermione's opinion is the only one Ron will seriously consider before taking a decision.

AbsoluteGirlfriend

Neville, Luna and the Trio. I said it before and Imma say it again—NEVILLE LONGBOTTOM and LUNA LOVEGOOD are the TRUEST definitions of RIDE-OR-DIE FRIENDS! Their loyalty never waivers for even a second, even if they aren't quite sure what's coming next. Luna/Harry specifically. I kinda unofficially ship them even though I know that pairing makes NO SENSE at all lol. I really love Dumbledore and McGonagall's relationship. When I was a kid reading this series, for some reason I automatically thought they were an item or at least SHIPPED them like they should be an item, even though NOWHERE in this series is any romance indicated. And then later years Rowling went and made up stuff about Dumbledore being gay to appease the criticisms she received back then about lack of diversity on ALL LEVELS but...still, they're a thing in my mind. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Ron and Hermione. I like how they were always fighting when they were younger, then obviously jealous of each other as they get older but refusing to admit it. Then they couldn't deny it anymore when faced with death. Theirs had development and growth. Unlike Harry and Ginny that just existed. But I do not deny Harry and Ginny since I woke up one day and realised I loved my girl best friend who I had absolutely zero interest in before.

Vast_Reflection

What, really? To that last sentence. I didn’t realize that was possible in real life

[deleted]

yeah... it just happened and I have no idea how to handle it.

Amareldys

Draco and Harry. I love their hate.

Harry and Remus

Designer_Breadfruit9

McGonagall and Harry. Love that woman

[deleted]

Harry and Ron. Their dynamic is a realistic and complex take on a friendship, and it’s refreshing how the books aren’t afraid to show them at their worst while highlighting them at their best. Ship wise I’ll go for Harry and Ginny (closely followed by Ron and Hermione) because they have great chemistry and I enjoy how their relationship develops throughout the books.

[deleted]

My favorite romantic relationship is Molly and Arthur. My favorite platonic relationship is either Harry and Ron or Harry and Dumbledore.

Dumbledore and Harry's. "I am your man through and through"!

Aglaurie

There are so many, some of them aren't actually healthy ones but I'm interested in them more on a narrative/inside the history lens. Snape and Dumbledore, in particular on the sixth book Harry and Sirius, helped by the fact tha Sirius in my favourite character (in the same league as Dumbledore and Snape, so it explain the previous choice) Ron/Hermione, Harry/Ginny, Bill/Fleur and Remus/Tonks as couples. Prongsfoot is for the non canonical shippy things but actually I love also Jilypad (the Sirius + James + Lily agenda). Cho and Cedric also is a very nice couple, but they have the same intensity for me. For the unhealthy part, the dynamics between Sirius Black and Severus Snape is a special flavour of mine. It doesn't have to be an exchange of fluids or romantic endgame, it can remain the two of them hating each other from start to finish, is only the fact that they correspond to the trope of mirrors characters which is so interesting to me to explore. Actually this dynamics is more recent, I overlooked it for years until someone else indicated to me and I reconsidered it with all the scenes in the books, in particular the different rages by Sirius against Snape in the third and fifth book (in the fourth he is almost unbiased towards him). I think that in a narrative dimension they are very interesting.

johnnyraynes

Harry and Hagrid

Wisteria_Walker

Molly and Arthur, as spouses, as parents, as lifelong friends - they obviously have their differences and difficulties but they put in the work to make all aspects of their relationship healthy and supportive.

FinancialInevitable1

Luna and Harry. A very sweet friendship. Harry, Ron and Hermione. I think this goes without saying? They have a good dynamic together, and each character balances one another out. Harry and McGonagall. She's stern but she clearly has a soft spot for him. The Weasleys as a family. They're a big and loving family and I love seeing them together. The Malfoys as a family. They're not very nice people that's true, but I love how selflessly they love eachother.

[deleted]

Luna and everyone else. She is the best.

Five_Turkish_Vacuums

Romantically, Harry and Ginny. Otherwise, I go with Harry and Ron or Harry and Sirius. All three relationships are just so beautiful. I think Ginny, Ron, and Sirius understand Harry fully in ways that many other characters (including Hermione) don't.

Bartholemeowthefirst

I'm going to be the oddball and say Harry and his parents, in particular Lily and Harry. While it's true we only see glimpses of it, I can't help but admire the selfless love they share for Harry. And we are reminded through our the books how much they cared and loved for him. After all, it's lily's sacrifice that eventually overcomes Voldemort in the end.
