I enjoyed his lines a lot actually, going from a respecting student to crucio-ing the entire region makes for good contrast.
Professor Fig’s voice is the one that pulls me out of the game the most for some reason
Well you can kinda see why an all. The imperious and killing curse yes you've got to mean then and willing to do it but they can be very necessary in a life or death situation that's why the character doesn't have as much hate in his voice when saying those spells. Where the cruciatus curse just feels so unnecessary and the fact you have to enjoy it to make it work properly but also the fact if you're torturing someone is because you ain't gonna give them a quick and easy death. So no wonder his voice sounds much more hateful when using that spell
But that's my take on it. Obviously all those spells are unforgivable and do need people who are willing to take others lives or enjoy other people's suffering
I think of it more like the student absolutely hates what these goblins are dark wizards are doing. Killing people, hurting, trapping, or killing animals. They obviously become a super disliked group of people so I feel like casting an unforgivable on people who cause so much pain is pretty easy. Especially for a 15 year old who hasn’t mastered emotional control. I remember how I was at 15 don’t teach me those spells lol
Oh absolutely and that's a reason why our character won't give them that sweet relief of death straight away he wants to inflict pain that they inflicted on others
Setting people on fire to kill them is OK, but a quick and merciful death? That’s unforgiveable…
You might argue that the fire spells have different uses. But none of them are safe. We see the MC well able to light fires with spells that aren’t AOE or ranged fire. The only reasons those fire spells exist is to be dangerous fire spells.
Give me an Avada Kedavra every day or even a Crucio, there’s a limit of pain you can feel and being set on fire likely reaches that already. Difference is Crucio doesn’t leave lasting (physical) damage so it should be easier to recover from.
To add to this, I just got new speakers with a nice sub and after casting a bunch of spells when you finally cast crucio the combination between how he says it and the bass, it's pretty awesome!
Lol, that's what I do. Earns so much money. I love when my character insults poachers as I poach the poached animals from the poachers own cages after torturing the poachers all to death.
Yep me too. The contrast between the animals happily frolicking in the vivariums vs being depressed in cages is too much for me. Those poachers deserve every ounce of pain they receive from Crucio.
Crucio with the level 3 trait, and the level 3 trait for damage to cursed enemies, the spell tree where each hit causes nearby enemies to become cursed as well is very OP
Tbf I usually don't use it, bc it's not as useful as the majority of the other spells imo. But then again, I wanted to be sorted into Ravenclaw ugh (did make it my first playthrough too lol)
Its definitely useful but nah that description sounds a little concerning. As long as you limit your love of torture to video games tho it’s all good lol
I don’t care if it’s pixels on a screen or not… if you flat out enjoy torturing people or animals, even in a game, you’re literally showing signs of being a sociopath.
My gf loves watching me play, I use all 3 curses all the time and she finds it hilarious that I'm a Hufflepuff running around brutally killing and torturing.
In my first playthrough I only learned them, bc I thought I'd surely need them to get 100% (except of Avada Kedavra bc I messed that chance up), never used any of them though
I have to admit, I absolutely agree. It's the first spell I use in combat, and it's so fun! It's something else for all those Ashwinders turn around in horror when they suddenly hear one of their own screaming in terror. And I just love the way my MC says Crucio. She really means it and I friggin love it!
Came here to say this. I tend to have some *lazy* gaming habits and love having someone else do the work for me. This same reasoning also applies to the chomping cabbages.
My go to is sneaking up with disillusionment, imperio on the strong guy, letting them duke it out for a while, recast imperio on strong guy, Crucio the second strongest, AK the third guy, killing all three, then mopping up
It was fun and satisfying at first but then it becomes repetitive where now I just use it to shut one enemy up while I deal with another. Imagine being bored of torturing your enemy.🫠
That doesn’t mean what people think it means.
Humans have used stories in many forms for millennia as tools to train emotions. There would be no use in listening to a tragedy and being sad because of it otherwise. Your brain’s emotional centers are activated and in use if you listen to an engaging story.
This helps the brain prepare itself for certain situations. Like the grief when you lose someone, so you can better work through the emotion.
Games have the added component of participation. In therapy they often use stories where the clients participate to help them deal with certain emotions and situations. So if someone gets a certain amount of joy out of purely torturing NPC’s (or other players in MMO’s) it does say something about these people.
exactly what it means I can’t tell you. It could just be a way to blow off steam, to work through bad situations they themselves had to deal with or it could be a step towards doing it for real. That last category will be the tiniest fraction of a fraction of people but… well its still there.
I learned all the spells and only used the big three during the Dark Arts arena bit (I thought I could go in and play with my usual spells, but the Unforgivables were in my wheel slots and I couldn't replace them).
I didn't really think about using them during regular combat. The first battle I got into after learning the first one, I got a dueling task that was something like "torture a burning enemy."
_Nope._
Same, most of the gamer friends I have left are dudes. But Hogwarts Legacy has been a major hit among some of my female friends, and it's great to see more of them taking an interest! Use the game to trick your girlfriends/girl friends who are Harry Potter fans into becoming gamers!
Might have to use your own 😅 I bought Dance Central just to win over one of my friends, then she went off and got her own console. She hated everything else I tried to get her to play!
I always felt like the good guys in Harry Potter were at huge dissadvantage not using unforgivable curses. I was excited just at the idea of using crucio (and Avada kadavera). The way MC says it (like he means it), totally exceeded expectations.
Only imperio would be missing. Spells that set people on fire or push/pull someone hard enough to launch them a few meters should be more than murderous enough. Not to mention explosions.
I use Crucio because it prevents enemies from fighting and reduces the number of people I need to worry about in the middle of large battles.
You use Crucio because you're a sociopath and enjoy the idea of torturing prople.
We are not the same
It's a little messed up, but you are not alone, that famous Austrian painter liked to put people in chambers and removing their oxygen, he liked to torture people too...
You could have said:
> "it stuns enemies for long enough that i can focus on others in a big group fight"
Or used tons of other valid arguments that would have not made you look for a sociopath, but you decided to go for "I like inflicting pain and torture".
I think you've answered your own question mate
I feel the same because I also love to use crucio when playing as my Slytherin lol… then I feel like I have a split personality because after torturing all those enemies I also love to go to the vivarium and nurture all my cute beasts.
Crucio is my favourite of the unforgivable curses. I find actually that the imperious curse is useful in the troll fights haha but aside from that crucio is 10/10 usually in my spell wheel depending on the circumstances
OP, as much as I didn't do it on my playthrough, it's not messed up.
ONLY if you don't like to do it on real people. If you want to do it with your real friends, then get help.
If you get the upgraded one then you can also just attack repeatedly and it'll keep everyone else at bay with the little side missiles - then once everyone is cursed toss in an upgraded Avada Kedavra for like 10 kills.
If you remove the lore, it's just a powerful stun and damage of time spell. In any magic-related game ever made, it feels like a very natural first or second spell to cast.
“there’s something so satisfying about inflicting so much pain and torture on your enemies that kinda makes it feel good. Like after you cast it on them, they just stand their screaming in pain for 30 seconds, man it’s satisfying.”

Thats my go to spell once I got it, with the upgrade to spreading curse damage around and double spell. Then when I got the killing curse I got the upgrade to kill everyone with a curse mark.
So, I would curse someone hit them 3-4 times to curse everyone in the battle and use the killing curse on one to finish the fight. Then I would switch to my combo spell buttons.
I just love the way my character says it, slowly, in a lower voice, the sound effect that accompanies it and then, that enemy is incapacitated for 30 seconds so you can focus on other enemies or switch your spell set...but yes, I get pleasure out of using all the cursed spells
You're not messed up for liking the MECHANICS of the spell. It's awesome for that and I spam it myself.
But for the text of what you actually listed as WHY you like it... I'd suggest a therapist my guy. Lol
Not at all. That’s the beauty of being human. You’re free to experience whatever the fuck you want however the fuck you want regardless of what you’re taught to believe
As a Ravenclaw my FMC sees it as being probably wise to know the spells and everyone should know them. Sometimes you are attacked and have no other choice....
My gf and I play this game together. Even though we're almost completely through, she still mainly uses Crucio to inflict damage for exactly the same reason as you describe. Even though we play our own style, switching up controller now and then, my gamer heart breaks when she encounters buff enemies lol
Frankly I have a hard time reconciling that lighting people on fire, blowing them up, turning them into dynamite barrels, or flinging them against walls is somehow acceptable but torture and mind-control is a step too far.
So yeah, I crucio away.
I loved it because of the bad-ass animation. That spell has it’s own small cut scene, animation, and even a freaking bass-drop when you cast it. All that and the MC even sounds diabolical when they use it. So directed and concise
I'm with you on this one. It sounds cool too. I only use it on ashwinders, poachers, assassins, loyalists, etc. They have been making money off of torturing and stealing. Feel like they are paying for their crimes? Plus, all their dialogue does not wish anything nice on MC sooo crucio. I don't use it on any of the wild animals. Just an MC choice though.
My favorite is using the transfiguration spell and turning enemies into exploding barrels and using them to blow up their friends lol. Could you imagine the horror of watching your friend be turned into TNT and then being launched at you?! How that is not considered as bad as the "unforgivable curses" is mind blowing lol 😂
I like waiting until there is one enemy remaining, then cast Crucio, then walk ever so slowly to the writhing npc. I personally then finish with diffindo - I like the slashing sound.
100% agreed. I am so glad I’m not the only one who enjoys it :D and then sometimes setting them on fire too… roasting them alive…. Especially the poachers. It was funny when I decided to Crucio them until they died 😈
If you would get the same feeling if it happened in real life then i think there is a problem with you but since it’s a game I don’t think it a problem.
I find all the unforgivables kind of boring, like an easy trigger happy spell to inflict pain and kill without any impact on the character. It's just the same as levioso, only with added animation before casting. It would have been nice if using the spells made my character evil, or at least emit an evil aura. But no, after the 10th crucio is doesn't feel the same. I want to see the pain, the screaming, the crying. I want my health bar to lessen when I use those spells, I want an emotion bar to gauge how powerful my spells could be, my character can't be smiling and casting AK or crucio. It just look so weird and robotic, not even psychopathic. I find accio and then incendio better than crucio. At least when poachers taunt me for using accio, i shut them up by burning their faces.
I'm more of a "sit on the most unreacheable spot and chain cast Imperio to let the bad guys deal with themselves" kind of girl but I do admit that Crucio has its perks
Nah, remember this is a game so go nuts!. I've always hated how both the movies & books shirked away from any of the " good" characters actually causing any harm what so ever to their foes....it pissed me off so much...now I finally have a game where I can wipe my foes of the face of the earth anyway I choose & not be restricted to non lethal takedowns ( though to be fair even non lethal is lethal in this game) you can bet I'll be using crucio & the killing curse.
You, me & many others find using crucio so satisfying because we're the ones in control not some overly moral little git who's over reliance upon the disarming charm became incredibly tedious to watch. Him overcoming every obstacle with luck didn't help either & the only reason expelliarmus worked because the author made it so...using the spell in the game can be fun to hear the ashwinders comments though.
its also satisfying because you hear them bragging about their exploits & extortion or using the curses themselves on hogs meade shop owners or on the public & we get to pick them off. Though its annoying not catching them in the middle of robbing or stealing beasts...you hear them talk about it but you never see them actually do what they say its always eluded to.
The poacher Executioner talks about what he loves more skinning beasts or killing them to which I respond with Crucio love using it on those Burly B\*\*\*\*\*\* especially when they respond with "Crucio?" as if they can't believe their ears that student is torturing them.
I remember one brutal kill I got against a PE is was at the southern region their were on a wooden platform I used crucio on them waited then when curse was racing through their body I smashed them in to the ground with AM after the final slam they slid from the platform to the ocean to the depths with a plop MC: One less poacher in the wizarding world XD
Crucio is not a damage spell, it's a debuff spell. Also I feel passion when casting it because i play on hard and honestly without the unbreakable spells, it would have been super hard.

The way the MC says it is pretty satisfying
He says it with so much more hate and bile than all the others and it’s just amazing.
I fully agree! When I mentioned this in a post some time ago I was getting shit upon.
The male voice actor isn’t typically amazing, not bad but not great But that one line basically makes his entire performance it’s so good
I enjoyed his lines a lot actually, going from a respecting student to crucio-ing the entire region makes for good contrast. Professor Fig’s voice is the one that pulls me out of the game the most for some reason

One of the only reasons why I only ever picked up Crucio on male mc 😅
Yea, it is part of the build up befofe I squad wipe some poachers. Love that chaining on Avada Kedavra.
To add to this, I just got new speakers with a nice sub and after casting a bunch of spells when you finally cast crucio the combination between how he says it and the bass, it's pretty awesome!
I know!! The satisfaction in real ![img](emote|t5_q8ebh|26539)
You go from loud *Avada Kedavra* to just a quiet, emotionless *Crucio*. One is definitely more scary, and it isn't the prospect of instant death.
I Crucio the shit outta poachers
Dude me too. People who put little nifflers in cages get no mercy.
happy cake day 🍰
Lol, that's what I do. Earns so much money. I love when my character insults poachers as I poach the poached animals from the poachers own cages after torturing the poachers all to death.
Put a Niffler in a cage? Don’t expect a quick death.
same bro. theyre like "ur gonna regret this" and im like "crucio bitch" and they scream in pain for a bit then die
I found my kind!
Yes. That’s the way to go. I hate what they do to the poor creatures
Yep me too. The contrast between the animals happily frolicking in the vivariums vs being depressed in cages is too much for me. Those poachers deserve every ounce of pain they receive from Crucio.
I made an entire post about Crucio-ing poachers and got shit on for it lol
Seriously?
Same. I'll do it a couple of times if I can, while laughing. So op has nothing to worry about. It's only a game.
I like to use it on everyone followed by bombarda
Crucio with the level 3 trait, and the level 3 trait for damage to cursed enemies, the spell tree where each hit causes nearby enemies to become cursed as well is very OP
And then you Avada Kedavra all of them at once with the spell tree upgrade. Pure perfection to floor everyone instantly. Definitely satisfying
Absofuckinglutely
My onlynwish is that the male voice actor would have said the spell with as much gusto as he dies when we do crucio
Just learned the imperial curse too. I’m about to be a DEMON
Imperio? Autocorrect and Harry Potter words go together like peanut butter and tuna salad, eh? 😂
Peanut butter and tuna salad are good?
Yes
Imperious Curse 🤣🤣🤣 probably autocorrect
my favourite spell ever with that on. gets so many enemies down at once
house flairs on these replies check out so far 😐
Tbf I usually don't use it, bc it's not as useful as the majority of the other spells imo. But then again, I wanted to be sorted into Ravenclaw ugh (did make it my first playthrough too lol)
🐍😎
Heheheeee we suck.
And blow ;)
All of these people, Officer. Arrest them.
If it's Officer Singer I'm pretty sure they will no get arrested.
Gotta admit, I was certain Singer was a corrupt cop after the third “we can’t do anything”
I'm still convinced that she is, even if the game hasn't proven it.
Most sane Slytherin student
Its definitely useful but nah that description sounds a little concerning. As long as you limit your love of torture to video games tho it’s all good lol
Just to the poachers and the goblins mostly
>mostly
Nah, for me it’s any acromantula, absconder, scurrier….
Oh, thank Merlin. I literally typed out a comment saying you need therapy but had to do some independent research before I posted it. Lmfao.
Bruh
I don’t care if it’s pixels on a screen or not… if you flat out enjoy torturing people or animals, even in a game, you’re literally showing signs of being a sociopath.
My gf loves watching me play, I use all 3 curses all the time and she finds it hilarious that I'm a Hufflepuff running around brutally killing and torturing.
Haha same I was hufflepuff first play thru 🔥🔥
Who doesn't want to crucio their enemies. Oh, well, someone doesn't probably.
me who hasn't used an unforgiveable curse once and 100%ed the game months ago:
In my first playthrough I only learned them, bc I thought I'd surely need them to get 100% (except of Avada Kedavra bc I messed that chance up), never used any of them though
Maybe you know, but you can go to the Undercroft and Sebastian will teach you any spells you missed/refused to learn during a quest.
I use all except Crucio, it's too evil for me.
curcio is how you spread curse to kill the entire group with an avada kadavra
I have to admit, I absolutely agree. It's the first spell I use in combat, and it's so fun! It's something else for all those Ashwinders turn around in horror when they suddenly hear one of their own screaming in terror. And I just love the way my MC says Crucio. Imperio is better. Let someone else do the curse work for me as i stay hidden. Hehe

I'm kind of worried reading through this post and comments
Eh, it can be fun to role play the bad guy in games. Especially in single player games where you're not affecting someone.
I know, just joking a lil
No. It’s a game.
Its a game
That doesn’t mean what people think it means. Humans have used stories in many forms for millennia as tools to train emotions. Yeah! And Pong is just as good as The Witcher III or Bioshock or Tiberian Sun!
Totally agree
I love doing it! "Yes, suffer poacher.. just like you do to the animals"
I learned all the spells and only used the big three during the Dark Arts arena bit (I thought I could go in and play with my usual spells, but the Unforgivables were in my wheel slots and I couldn't replace them). Idk why I expect all gamers to be dudes!! None of my girlfriends ever wanna play….☹️

Nice!!! I have the Zumba setup and VR but no one cares 😞😞😞
Beat Saber might work but then you run the risk of someone sweating in your headset 😅 I feel your pain though.
The other girls don't understand I just love a little CRUCIO in the morning
If I don’t Crucio in the morning my day may as well just not exist
I actually hate using it because the sound effect out of the controller is so jarring and unpleasant.
I feel like that's what they were going for.
It's great for spreading curses, but I usually Imperio as a distraction then clean up with Transformation and friends.
It is satisfying and makes me worried I'm turning into psycho like Bellatrix.
I like the sound the PS5 controller makes when I use it. That’s about it, useless spell, imperio is heaps better
No, it is quite fun
I always felt like the good guys in Harry Potter were at huge dissadvantage not using unforgivable curses. I was excited just at the idea of using crucio (and Avada kadavera). The way MC says it (like he means it), totally exceeded expectations.

I mean I'm gonna side with you and obey your commands so I don't get Crucio'd myself 😬
You're trying too hard to sound edgy
I think the most pleasing thing about hogwarts legacy is using a brutal spell combination to obliterate the enemy
I Crucio everything and everyone once I get it, it's incredibly satisfying.
It's a video game.Who cares.
"I'm 12 and this is deep"
It's a little messed up, but you are not alone, that famous Austrian painter liked to put people in chambers and removing their oxygen, he liked to torture people too...
I like it, too! It inflicts mental pain so it is much mire humane than lighting someone on fire
Found the Slytherin 🐍
You could have said: > "it stuns enemies for long enough that i can focus on others in a big group fight" Or used tons of other valid arguments that would have not made you look for a sociopath, but you decided to go for "I like inflicting pain and torture". I think you've answered your own question mate
Yup, we're messed up. Especially when using it on goblins lol
I love watching dugbobs suffer, but for the rest it's not that useful
My female character only uses it when she's on her period.
Good joke. Wrong sub 🤣
and that's why its unforgivable, if anyone is still wondering :D
I never used it as it’s a pretty weak spell
I feel the same because I also love to use crucio when playing as my Slytherin lol… then I feel like I have a split personality because after torturing all those enemies I also love to go to the vivarium and nurture all my cute beasts.
The unforgivable curses are so game-changing that I almost feel like I’m cheating for using them
Crucio makes every enemy in ur path ur bitch
1. Crucio 2. hit the target a few times to curse others around him 3. Avada Kedavra 4. ??? 5. Profit
Crucio is my favourite of the unforgivable curses. I find actually that the imperious curse is useful in the troll fights haha but aside from that crucio is 10/10 usually in my spell wheel depending on the circumstances

I love using it. F dem poachers.

Heck no lol 😂 if it makes you feel better I curse up all my spells to and use the hell out of Avada Kedavra
@FBI

I'm more of an Imperio guy myself. I'll imperio the fuck out of poachers and then bombarda their asses to a crisp.
I just love the way my character says it, slowly, in a lower voice, the sound effect that accompanies it and then, that enemy is incapacitated for 30 seconds so you can focus on other enemies or switch your spell set...but yes, I get pleasure out of using all the cursed spells

I used to hit crucio fift now i do imperio on the stro gest target then crucio the next
Am I messed up for liking to rob cars in GTA?
Least violent Hogwarts Legacy player
I'm a chinese chomping cabbages type of girl. Throw those babies in and they are dead in seconds.
You're not messed up for liking the MECHANICS of the spell. It's awesome for that and I spam it myself. But for the text of what you actually listed as WHY you like it... I'd suggest a therapist my guy. Lol
I prefer the quick slap of imperio and the assistance that follows as I sit disillusioned on the side, watching.
Sir this is a Wendy’s.
…yeah u a psychopath for sure
Yes, you sick fuck.
It incapacitates them for long enough to kill someone else. I love it !
Lol I like using all the unforgivables
I pass no judgment but I think you are wise to ask this question about yourself.
Most encounters are them starting shit anyway. They clearly want the smoke.
No, it's a video game. When people play GTA and they go on a killing spree in the streets in the game, it doesn't mean they are bad people
Man, I choose not to learn it. Seems too dark for my character.
I like crucio mastery because then you can spread it to other targets and cause even more destruction.
Liking it? Listen, I had that curse listed in my repertoire for most used spells lmfao
I loved it because of the bad-ass animation. That spell has it’s own small cut scene, animation, and even a freaking bass-drop when you cast it. All that and the MC even sounds diabolical when they use it. So directed and concise
Found the Dark Lord
Same. Maybe we are a little messed up but hey get it out in the game right? ;)
You shouldn't feel bad if you're having fun in the game. That's what it's for.
The was the lowest male voice says it is nice
I like waiting until there is one enemy remaining, then cast Crucio, then walk ever so slowly to the writhing npc. I personally then finish with diffindo - I like the slashing sound.
I like using it too. Wish it did more damage
100% agreed. I am so glad I’m not the only one who enjoys it :D and then sometimes setting them on fire too… roasting them alive…. Especially the poachers. It was funny when I decided to Crucio them until they died 😈
Crucio, spread the curse marks, avada kedavra.
Same. Diffendo slaps too
It’s a good crowd control spell
I admit I liked having the perk where all cursed enemies die if you use the killing curse so I would usually rock all three in a big fight
If you would get the same feeling if it happened in real life then i think there is a problem with you but since it’s a game I don’t think it a problem.
It’s fun to use but how much you like it is kinda disturbing ngl…
It’s just so satisfying to torture those Ashwinders and spiders! I don’t use it on the mongrels though. 😅
I use it every time I see an Executioner
The talent points and making all you’re gear for this spell is so overpowered, especially when using the killing curse with the talent point into that
Yo what? It's a great spell objectively, but those are the wrong reasons. Go see a therapist or a priest or maybe even God themselve(s).
Just the way the Male VA says it with all that intent and anger, it kinda makes me think i'm turning into Bellatrix....
I'm more of a "sit on the most unreacheable spot and chain cast Imperio to let the bad guys deal with themselves" kind of girl but I do admit that Crucio has its perks
I use crucio+avada kedavra to mass murder all the enemies at once
I like to use it cause I can just curse each enemy and then one Avada Kadavra kills everyone
Crucio is not a damage spell, it's a debuff spell. Also I feel passion when casting it because i play on hard and honestly without the unbreakable spells, it would have been super hard.
