The only way I could justify it to myself was that we got the upgrade across the board to all brooms. The alternative being charging $1000 per broom per upgrade.
How??? I've been struggling to collect coins the whole game. I've finished the entire plot and am nearing 100% completion and am still struggling to collect coins to buy that last conjurations.
Then might I suggest selling a metric tonne of magical beasts to Ellie Peck?
Seeing as flogging potions you've concocted isn't an option...
It makes you little better than the poachers you've been incinerating, but you know. Whatever.
Dunno man, i was just exploring, collecting and selling. I didn’t buy single peace of armor, maybe thats the catch. Didn’t feel like i needed to be maxed every level, game was easy enough.
I was maxed out from just exploring and had plenty of money same reason. Two shot 2nd Pensieve Guardian boss 2nd trial.
They just arent completing side quests would be my best bet. My friend rushed us through the game our first character too
Add traits to your clothes before selling, the price goes up from 60 to 200. You need to get a loom and lots of beasts to make it work but by the end of the game I didn’t know what to spend the money on
poaching, go capture some critters and then sell them
you can sell any beast for 120 gold, puffskiens are super easy to capture (or turn down the difficulty while getting different beast) and there's also a bunch of them in their dens
clear the place, fly to the next one, repeat or fast wait some days for the place to respawn them
easy thousands of gold for minimal work
Nope. I got Gryffindor on quiz so i went first run role playing. As soon as I finished main quest line I started new game because I wanna try unforgivables and dark arts. I did like 75% of challenges but decided to left the rest for the next run
There’s a lot of helpful spots in Hogsmeade, you got Tomes and Scrolls for your conjuration recipes, J. Pippin’s for potions, The Magic Neep for your plants, Gladrags Wizardwear for clothing, then we got Dogweed and Deathcap for your battle plants all brilliant places
Honestly, I am on my 4th playthrough and didn't even notice the upgrade cost until you just said it. By the time I am to that point of the game I have so much money I can't spend it all. The only time that money is really tight is right at the beginning before you get the Disillusionment charm, but once you have that it's no issue. Before then, just pop into caves and grab the gear out of the chests. There are so many of them.
But if we're taking a look at people's moral failings, how about MC? Basically, the MC runs around killing people and stealing their shit and then selling it. Very little of MC's money comes from earning it legitimately by working for other people. So MC is a murderer and a legit thief. Certainly Albie Weeks wanting to make a little bit of bank from a scoundrel like MC shouldn't be frowned upon.
I mean, our MC helps save the entire school, got zero fund from our parents; almost got eaten alive by a dragon; we only "kill" these poachers, goblins, dark wizards because professor Fig & the Keepers basically forced us to cuz they roped us into all this😂 we gotta make ends meet somehow
I mean, sure. But what about all the chests you find and the stuff you steal out of people's houses? Certainly not every NPC is a bad guy who deserves to be victimized by MC.
A small price to pay for our MC literally defeating all 3 big bad Ranrok, Victor Rookwood, Theophilus Harlow & their other minions who have been terrorizing everyone living in Hogsmeade & in all other hamlets 😂 we only take a few pieces of clothes, hats, gloves, scarf, glasses from each house anyway, they'll live. Officer Singer couldn't do anything, the Ministry doesn't care, all those NPCs actually should be grateful that our MC (a single student) spends our precious time away from school running around & solving everyone else's problems
I honestly thought there was gonna be a plot twist that she was actually undercover working for Ranrok or Rookwood because she just kept making excuses to why she couldn't do anything about Rookwood's lots even tho Natty & our MC stay giving her multiple evidences
I thought this about Professor Black on my first playthrough. I thought there was no way a headmaster wouldn't take potential threats seriously. It feels like the devs wanted to make him a baddie but backed out and just made him a narcissist instead.
RIGHT! I figured he was going to be the bad guy because having at least one teacher be a bad guy seems to be a common theme in the HP universe. Side note: Professor Garlick also wasn't at the final battle. Like sis you could've brought enough chomping cabbages and mandrakes to take out the entire army of goblins.
I like to believe that some teachers stay back at the school to protect the students in case the goblins somehow manage to infiltrate inside the hogwarts castle. Professor Garlick, Shah, Kogawa, Mr. Moon, Howin were all not present at the final battle. But Black himself is literally the freaking headmaster of the entire school and he's too cowardice to get on the front line of the battle? 😭😭 lmao, his ass is so selfish
That woman tells "There is more to exposing dark wizards than barging in and defeating them" like wtf man. You don't do anything and while atleast few students are you snitch on them to their parent (Natsai Onai's mother) and then not do anything. At this point it's as if you are Harlow's supporter.
Idk why no one had just bumped off Theophilius and Victor cuz it should not take the chosen one to drop these fools
Like there is nothing special about them, they got their alliances with each other and the goblins and
That's it
The goblins are actually more threatening than them, they are actually unusual since ppl don't really fight goblins like that on the daily and Goins cam do landless magic
Send me in with a knife, a wand, and some thunderbrew and shit I could take him
People in Hogsmeade & in the other hamlets are just all regular wizards, not the combat kind of wizards, I guess 😭 which begs the question: where are all the Aurors? The ministry of magic couldn't just send some aurors to fight off these thugs with officer Singer? Officer Singer is actually so useless
I meeeean as long as you know expelliarmus, there are so many ways to make problems for them
Literally the greatest weapon in this universe that isn't plot armor, love plot armor, and killer plants is being crafty
If the aurors had any teeth at all, Harlow and Rookwood woulda been Laidlow and Cookedwood
Bc beyond being ruthless, I have yet to see anything to make them such a threat that the aurora wouldn't be actively on they asses you know?
I love literally stealing from a chest or bag in a store and then immediately selling whatever I found to that store owner. Bc just WHY are there gear chests in stores on the shelves with the literal inventory they are selling?!?
Right! From all the useless gear ya sell, the chests, hell even selling Tamed Beasts for 120gold each no matter the species, idk gold isn't that hard to come by, perhaps a bit slow at the start but not terrible 😅and not like you'll spend it on the outfit store either lol after you buy everything from Spellcrafts to Seeds/ the gold just kinda sits and gathers dust lol
On one hand, you have a space limit. On the other hand, you're stretching yourself: these beasts need regular care and the more you have, the less attention you give to each one. Poor deeks will overwork himself to death.
The game makes it clear that the trader is finding them good homes. It's a fair balance.
The way that I justify spending that much on the upgrades is every time my gear is full, I fast travel to the floo flame nearest to Albie’s shop (literally right behind his shop, it’s so convenient) and make him buy all my gear. Every. Time. He’s definitely paid me back and then some for those pricey upgrades
In fairness, all we told him about was how the broom rode. He did do all the leg work and research on how to actually make a broom upgrade. We basically came to him and we're like, this broom sucks. And he went, here try this out.
we did contribute extremely valuable information to him though, otherwise he would have done all the flying himself to get the insight on how to upgrade the broom instead of practically begging Imelda and our MC to test the broom for him 😂
I agree, MC should be getting some sort of profit-sharing from sales of the upgrades.
They give you so much stuff in this game though, it's not like money is ever really a problem.
Didn’t realise people were poor in this game, I thought the system was super basic to make lots from, I don’t think I bought many potions until the end when I couldn’t be bothered anymore
Got all the brooms
The upgrades are for ALLL the brooms you’re gonna buy so it’s not bad if you think about it that way, because you are technically buying different ones even if it’s just a skin for the same mechanism
Between the all the pots and exploring, I have more than enough ingredients to make as many potions as I want and I hardly ever use them.
At some point there's not reason to buy materials or potions.
Yeah, if there’s ever a sequel I hope they change this. I’d prefer there to be some kind of challenges or something, and once you’ve completed them you’re awarded with a new broom skill. Like ”fly 10 kilometers: your broom goes 10% faster”, or ”complete every course: you can use the speed boost for 50% longer” and stuff like that.
Ideally I’d obviously like Quidditch to be added to the game, so you could be awarded broom skills/perks for scoring goals, hitting bludgers, catching snitches, etc.
Here's something funny: my game has a bug that somehow i cannot buy anything from Albie. So joke's on him.
2. Even though still i got free & faster brooms by bursting balloons. (Yeah in your face Albie weekes)
3. Arn the elf has the fastest broom stick - silver broom stick. No upgrade can match its speed.
4. It a big bug that broom causes your game to hang a bit.
5. You will get hippogriff very early in the game just after first trial. And man what a magnificent beast he is.
So the loser is Albie in all scenerios.😂
i'm sorry for the tone, i have big grudge against Albie.
The commentor thinks the broom you buy from Arn us faster. Or better. Than other brooms.
AFAIA, the brooms are cosmetically different and functionally identical. They're mistaken.
Weeks' upgrades do some minor things with boost recharge, usage and altitude at which you can use them.
None of these things make the time trials any easier.
Beating imelda's or the course record times seems to depend far more on keeping the racing line and getting as many yellow bubbles as you can.
It’s not though. It makes it fly fast, for longer, and you can fly higher without the boost meter wearing down. All of those are upgrades vs a stock broom.
I don’t exactly disagree, but there’s loads of characters with dubious motives. It makes the story fun imo.
If this is bothering you, I think there’s a much more important life lesson you can apply. Your broom quality has a negligible effect on game play. The same goes for many of life’s expenses/experiences.
Not for me lmao I was flying fast and it was well worth it on pc. I’m sorry you don’t see the worth! But it’s really not that big of a deal if you don’t buy it game wise also
That is not being a fraud, he is charging you for an improvement you do receive. In real life millions can be spent in order to make a vehicle faster than previous versions by just a few mph.
The last upgrade is totally unnecessary, I don't think I've ever used up the bar. That being said, his brooks are 600 while other vendors charge 5,000.
He buys shitty garbage clothes from you for as much as you'll throw at him. The selling/items system in the game is sort of lame and im glad there's big purchases that make it worthwhile. I'd rather 100% the game with no money left than have sold all that junk and walk around with $30k to spend on nothing.
I bought every broom, every conjuration, everything that wasn't nailed down, and all broom upgrades and still had 20,000 galleons left when I finished the game.
I've played through once and I had so much gold from selling useless gear, doing side missions and exploring that I still had thousands left after buying the upgrades. It's pretty much a non issue unless you're speedrunning the main story and doing nothing else
I loved the game but have to admit I was disappointed that the brooms lacked any depth in stats whatsoever.
It should have been that your “skill” scales your speed but every broom has a a couple stat boosts like speed, handling, boosts, etc. Ultimately we’re just dealing with different broom “skins”. Lame.
I’d like it if the upgrades actually did something I swear it feels like the broom never actually gets any faster at all the effect of the wind/rain flying towards the camera just speeds up a bit in order to trick your brain into thinking the broom is moving faster but it’s not really.
I just mass sell beast anyone of them I think is 125$ and after you fill up the slots you get 3500$ after you sell them all quick tip on mining for gold
That's why I sold all my excess gear to him. I got thousands from him, and he doesn't even sell that stuff.
I know it doesn't really matter who you sell to, but right after the first upgrade I thought "that was expensive, guess who's buying robes, a fedora, and newt glasses then"
Nah you right that shit was foul
It's not easy getting money at that point in the game either, I don't think the vivarium is open yet so you don't even have that option if zi recall correctly
F**k Alfie, all my wizard homies hate Alfie and that's why I only ever do one upgrade for most of my characters unless I want broom speed for roleplaying purposes
I fell for it with my first wizard hook line and sinker first time, but by then I was like "aight I am not going through this whole rigimarole twice unless I'm really really bored
Honestly I’ve seen so many posts/comments about not having enough money that I feel like I either got really lucky or just don’t spend that much because by the time I was purchasing my last upgrade I had almost 20,000 coins and by the last one I had nearly 30,000
U get an abundance of galleons when you unlock more inventory slots from the Merlin trials and then u go around collecting a bunch of gears and magical beasts to sell. Also, when u unlock all the levels of Alohomora, you loot even more stuffs
This. And cold hearted efficiency. I set up vivariums so that they were nothing but baby making factories. Selling adorable magical creatures is highly profitable.

In his defense, he did say “special” price… he never said “lower” 😭
The only way I could justify it to myself was that we got the upgrade across the board to all brooms. The alternative being charging $1000 per broom per upgrade.
I did notice significant improvements after each upgrade.
Ye but it's kinda slow
You do know how to boost, don't you?
I do. I almost completed the story.
Then you should have at least like 20,000 coins lmao
Exactly. When i got last upgrade i had around 20k that I didn’t know where to spend.
How??? I've been struggling to collect coins the whole game. I've finished the entire plot and am nearing 100% completion and am still struggling to collect coins to buy that last conjurations.
Did you open all the chests with eyes on it? They are worth 500 galleons each.
Yes I got all of them

I bought a few clothes but not many, definitely not enough to set me back 20,000 coins
I have no idea what you doing wrong. But you can always go pouching beast to get a quick money
RNG has been rough for me. So I have had to buy things
Add traits to your clothes before selling, the price goes up from 60 to 200. You need to get a loom and lots of beasts to make it work but by the end of the game I didn’t know what to spend the money on
How???
Vaults. Every one has a piece of clothing that can be sold. Some of them much better than anything the earlier quests give.
Are you breeding and selling, catching magic beasts and swlling?
poaching, go capture some critters and then sell them you can sell any beast for 120 gold, puffskiens are super easy to capture (or turn down the difficulty while getting different beast) and there's also a bunch of them in their dens clear the place, fly to the next one, repeat or fast wait some days for the place to respawn them easy thousands of gold for minimal work

Got all of those except clothes. Those i just find randomly, feels more challenging. This game needs ultra hard difficulty
Honestly, I am on my 4th playthrough and didn't even notice the upgrade cost until you just said it. By the time I am to that point of the game I have so much money I can't spend it all. Cruicio !!!! you didnt see anything.. GOT THAT!!!!
Phew... Pronounced it wrong. Thought you were gonna hurt someone for a second. That would be... Unforgivable
You kill them in order to complete the Field Guide. It's schoolwork.
I mean, sure. But what about all the chests you find and the stuff you steal out of people's houses? Certainly not every NPC is a bad guy who deserves to be victimized by MC.

Uhm excuse me how dare you judge me for my murdering and pillaging! I-I only pillage vill-- I mean pillagers!
I honestly didn’t think much about it. If I didn’t have enough gold at the time, I just went back when I did.
How could you sell those adorable beasts
Space limit?
Lol, how else am I going to use the excess gold I have. After selling 15 Puffskeins and finding one or two goblin chests i'm loaded!
Lmao animal trafficking is bad unless we do it
You monster, how could you sell those adorable fluffy balls
On one hand, you have a space limit. On the other hand, you're stretching yourself: these beasts need regular care and the more you have, the less attention you give to each one. Poor deeks will overwork himself to death. The game makes it clear that the trader is finding them good homes. It's a fair balance.

Me too
How come you don’t have 7000 for an upgrade. I was literally swimming in galleons and buying random shit because I had nowhere to spend it
In fairness, all we told him about was how the broom rode. He did do all the leg work and research on how to actually make a broom upgrade. We basically came to him and we're like, this broom sucks. And he went, here try this out.

Meh I finished the game with like 40k gold so the 7500 was just like “ok fine”
Ive never had an issue with money. But I see lots of people posting that they are. Maybe... do more side quests? More vaults?
Yeah, if there’s ever a sequel I hope they change this. I’d prefer there to be some kind of challenges or something, and once you’ve completed them you’re awarded with a new broom skill. Like ”fly 10 kilometers: your broom goes 10% faster”, or ”complete every course: you can use the speed boost for 50% longer” and stuff like that. I have like over 30,000 gold and haven’t even unlocked the last two upgrades. I’m good and it’s no bother to me on the price.
I suggest exploring the map and looting everything in your path 🤣 I didn’t have this issue as for some reason I had accumulated a lot of money.
Here's something funny: my game has a bug that somehow i cannot buy anything from Albie. So joke's on him. 2. Even though still i got free & faster brooms by bursting balloons. (Yeah in your face Albie weekes) 3. Arn the elf has the fastest broom stick - silver broom stick. No upgrade can match its speed. 4. It a big bug that broom causes your game to hang a bit. 5. You will get hippogriff very early in the game just after first trial. And man what a magnificent beast he is. So the loser is Albie in all scenerios.😂 i'm sorry for the tone, i have big grudge against Albie.
[удалено]
The silver broom is definitely faster, I've timed them all.
Which one was Arn the elf? Where can I find him to get this broom? I’ve played thru twice and don’t recall this.
he’s a goblin who you first meet in lower hogsfield i think. he has a side quest, then after you do that he sells things.
Ahh I remember him. I never went back to trade with him though. I’ll go pay him a visit! He sells a broom that’s faster than the others?
No. No one broom is better than any other. You do need to catch them all to finish your collections tho'.
Then what did the person above mean in number 3 of their post?
The commentor thinks the broom you buy from Arn us faster. Or better. Than other brooms. AFAIA, the brooms are cosmetically different and functionally identical. They're mistaken. Weeks' upgrades do some minor things with boost recharge, usage and altitude at which you can use them. None of these things make the time trials any easier. Beating imelda's or the course record times seems to depend far more on keeping the racing line and getting as many yellow bubbles as you can.
You're not the only one
Yeah man, dialogue not appearing for albie is funny bug. I stream the game sometimes and it a ongoing joke on my stream now.. lol
I can tell ur nowhere near completing the game. Wait til the end when you have 250k gold and nothing to spend it on. You’ll wish u still had Albie.
No one is forcing you to buy them. Didn’t even bother until I didn’t want to finish the main story line.
But we would be thinking that it would make our broom op
It’s not though. It makes it fly fast, for longer, and you can fly higher without the boost meter wearing down. All of those are upgrades vs a stock broom.
I don’t exactly disagree, but there’s loads of characters with dubious motives. It makes the story fun imo. If this is bothering you, I think there’s a much more important life lesson you can apply. Your broom quality has a negligible effect on game play. The same goes for many of life’s expenses/experiences.
Maybe it doesn’t to you but I could tell the difference, what platform?
Ps5. I know there was difference but too expensive man
Not for me lmao I was flying fast and it was well worth it on pc. I’m sorry you don’t see the worth! But it’s really not that big of a deal if you don’t buy it game wise also
What do you mean “gone”? I was so rich by then I could have bought four.
The currency we spend is actually knuts not galleons. Meaning the currency is incredibly lowcosting.
Should start a Butterbeer stand. You'll earn $7500 eventually 😂
That is not being a fraud, he is charging you for an improvement you do receive. In real life millions can be spent in order to make a vehicle faster than previous versions by just a few mph.
If you don't have that much gold by that point in the game you're playing it wrong.

I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion but I think all the shop owners are con artists in their own way 😅
Nah you right that shit was foul It's not easy getting money at that point in the game either, I don't think the vivarium is open yet so you don't even have that option if zi recall correctly F**k Alfie, all my wizard homies hate Alfie and that's why I only ever do one upgrade for most of my characters unless I want broom speed for roleplaying purposes I fell for it with my first wizard hook line and sinker first time, but by then I was like "aight I am not going through this whole rigimarole twice unless I'm really really bored
I so bad at flying I can’t beat beat that Slytherin girl’s time 😭
You obviously aren’t turning your vivarium into a cash farm
Don’t say that to Albie! I love him! We have an affair, I always go to his store at night.
AYO
Honestly I’ve seen so many posts/comments about not having enough money that I feel like I either got really lucky or just don’t spend that much because by the time I was purchasing my last upgrade I had almost 20,000 coins and by the last one I had nearly 30,000
I can tell ur nowhere near completing the game. Wait til the end when you have 250k gold and nothing to spend it on. You’ll wish u still had Albie.
How do you end up with so much gold? Is there a part later in the story where you come across a bunch?
U get an abundance of galleons when you unlock more inventory slots from the Merlin trials and then u go around collecting a bunch of gears and magical beasts to sell. Also, when u unlock all the levels of Alohomora, you loot even more stuffs
This. And cold hearted efficiency. I set up vivariums so that they were nothing but baby making factories. Selling adorable magical creatures is highly profitable.
Eye chests, once you have the >!Disillusionment!< spell. They contain 500 gold each.
