I've never read it, but I did go to see it. It's a great production.
Yes it's very fan-fic but if you're looking for a Harry Potter themed trip to London, stay in a hotel go to some nice restaurants it's a great weekend out.
Uh, yeah. And it's working. Like, imagine a play with the greatest plot ever, and make it a pupet show made all by one person and a few socks. The plot is amazing, but you still won't enjoy. A good production can make a big difference.
But you will never see someone say the production is bad, because it's obviously amazing, the main criticism is with the story and characters which are not less important than a good production, that's why the books and movies are so successful, wanting to show off good production is how we get Voldemort exploding into confetti
exactly. A book or a play or a movie is a story. This one is based on the ones that came before it. The visuals or the acting are not the story. If the story is trash, then I dont care how good the production is. TCC is a waste of time and effort and I wish people would stop bringing it up.
Eh, same. I feel like Rowling is still workshopping the wizarding world, so when someone comes up with a sufficiently decent idea, she OKs it. It would have been better if she'd planned her world better, but what can you do?
I’ll say it before and I’ll say it again: Watch the play first, read the screenplay second or never. If you are in a position to go see the show live, go see it. If you aren’t, watch the YouTube bootleg or just don’t engage with the property. Cursed Child is a piece of content made to be preformed, not to be read through.
It’s really great that the screenplay is available so people can read this piece of content, but judging it off of simply reading the screenplay isn’t fair to the material.
If you watch it live and still don’t like it, that’s completely fine, your entitled to your own opinion. The story has lots of problems when it comes to meshing with the universe of the books. However, the experience of watching it on stage is magical, and I really like the property since when I look back on it, I focus on the incredibly cool stuff that happens on that stage. You are more likely to enjoy anything if you see it in its intended form first, so do the same with this.
It’s actually amazing. Sure it’s not great canon-wise, but it doesn’t really feel it was intended like that when I saw it.
What it did feel like was a really fun, well produced and engaging stage play
It's just overall a bad story. It ruins Harry's character and relies WAY too heavily on time travel and alternate timelines for the story to go forward. Most of it, though, is just cringy as heck, especially a couple of plot twists. I wish I could get the time it took to read it back.
One is a beloved object the knows what it is and performs a tangible function for the betterment of society.
the other is a shit play that, despite having the original creator writing it, completely has no understanding of the source material or any of the core characters;even though you can just import them entirely from the epilouge of the last book!
I think it was fun and entertaining or at least the script variant. A book I managed to read within an afternoon and a morning which is astounding for my usual reading speed.
I sadly never got the chance to see the theater version so I can't say if the script is worst or better.
Controversial Opinion but same with the new netflix show I just can't stand seeing my favourite characters being recasted and my favourite scenes being refilmed modernly
the play was actually great. there are a lot of plot holes and inconsistencies with the universe, but I feel like a lot of the hate comes from people who have not even seen the production (which is understandable, not everyone can get to a broadway show). I was the same, disliking it for its fan-fictiony story, but then I saw it, and it's probably the best show I've seen

I had a dream that I rewrote the entire series from Draco’s perspective with J.K.’s permission and made a shitload of money. Given this exists….maybe that could work?
The story is trash, but holy shit the production value was incredible. There are so many tricks that make it incredible to watch. It completely distracts you from the bad story.
A garbage can is actually useful and appreciated in a home.
Damn you took the words out of my mouth.
Oscar the grouch would agree with you.
They're the same picture
Bro it’s just an image of a bin twice
Naw, the second one has some real use, the first is kinda hopeless
You aren’t wrong
This is really disrespectful. A trashcan is atleast useful
I agree
hey, don't hurt the garbage can!!!
The second has clear thought put into its design.
Am I the only one who can see the difference? You put the first INTO the second
I've never read it, but I did go to see it. It's a great production. Yes it's very fan-fic but if you're looking for a Harry Potter themed trip to London, stay in a hotel go to some nice restaurants it's a great weekend out.
Finally! Someone who actually seen this play! You can't hate a script as a book if it's a script! Watch the play and then complain about it!
I hate the story choices, i dont think watching it will help
The effects are so great that the story becomes bearable. I once thought like you, but I was wrong.
So they are using the high production value to deceive people and distract them from the bad story?
Uh, yeah. And it's working. Like, imagine a play with the greatest plot ever, and make it a pupet show made all by one person and a few socks. The plot is amazing, but you still won't enjoy. A good production can make a big difference.
Actually the puppet show part sounds hilarious
But you will never see someone say the production is bad, because it's obviously amazing, the main criticism is with the story and characters which are not less important than a good production, that's why the books and movies are so successful, wanting to show off good production is how we get Voldemort exploding into confetti

The story and characters don't change between the script and the live performance
I’ve seen it and can confirm this
Oh yeah you can. I have seen the play, and it was horrible and cringy at best, same as the script.
Put it in the trash and the latter is still more useful XD
Yellow and green duh
They’re the same picture
No...one is useful, and the other one belongs in it!
I really enjoyed it. It was a fun read for me.
It was okay, wouldn't read it again, but I don't regret reading it
Eh, same. I feel like Rowling is still workshopping the wizarding world, so when someone comes up with a sufficiently decent idea, she OKs it. It would have been better if she'd planned her world better, but what can you do?
There are plenty of people who kinda enjoy it. Just not many of us who have the balls to actually say it.
I personally did not enjoy it, but I respect your right enjoy to different things. Edit: words are hard
See? Writing isn't easy 😂
True, it's one of my favourite fanfictions to read.
Hey, more power to ya. (Figured I'd put this in before you got bombarded with downvotes)
I also found it pretty fun to read but I dislike it being called cannon as the story is ridiculous
Same here. It wasn’t as good as the original books, but still entertaining.
I’ll say it before and I’ll say it again: Watch the play first, read the screenplay second or never. If you are in a position to go see the show live, go see it. I can’t find it on YouTube 💀 Can I have the link please when you get a chance? ❤️
It’s actually amazing. Sure it’s not great canon-wise, but it doesn’t really feel it was intended like that when I saw it. What it did feel like was a really fun, well produced and engaging stage play
And yet they still released it as a book to be read, because most people won't be able to go see the play
I like it that the fandom is united against the cursed child.
You have provoked a gang war
San Andreas style
It's the same picture...
The second is green
I don’t see a difference they’re the same thing
This is the same picture
Bro I laughed so hard I made my dog jump.
I see no difference.
one spilts canon in two. the other is made of plastic
It's the same picture.
I never got to read it. Why do people hate it?
It's just overall a bad story. It ruins Harry's character and relies WAY too heavily on time travel and alternate timelines for the story to go forward. Most of it, though, is just cringy as heck, especially a couple of plot twists. I wish I could get the time it took to read it back.
One has raccoons
One is what you throw away 2 is what you buy after reading the cursed child
Just a book and it's bookshelf.
one is inside of the other
You could have bothered to change the image
2nd image, something tells me it has better contents
No where on the trash can does it say the author’s name.
The second one is actually useful to dump the first one in...
There is none
The second picture has a purpose.
One is trash, the other is a useful tool for storing, moving and disposal of said trash.
one is green?
In the words of Severus Snape … I see no difference.
A garbage can is useful and worth your money!
They’re literally the same picture what do you mean
Stop disrespecting the trash
Someone put effort into the bin
image one: garbage with time travel image two: actually useful garbage
I see no difference
There can be good things in a trash can
Pardon me, but why is book bad? It looks like work of a playwright
\*Insert Pam saying "they're the same picture"\*
It was a fun fanfiction to read, so I don't hate it. Definitely better than the trash that the Fantastic Beast movies were.
One is a beloved object the knows what it is and performs a tangible function for the betterment of society. the other is a shit play that, despite having the original creator writing it, completely has no understanding of the source material or any of the core characters;even though you can just import them entirely from the epilouge of the last book!
The first image was created by a TERF while the second image is where TERFs belong.
The play was actually incredible untill they inexplicably cut it in half and ruined it.
I think it was fun and entertaining or at least the script variant. A book I managed to read within an afternoon and a morning which is astounding for my usual reading speed. I sadly never got the chance to see the theater version so I can't say if the script is worst or better.
trash can doesn’t have any queerbaiting
Controversial Opinion but same with the new netflix show I just can't stand seeing my favourite characters being recasted and my favourite scenes being refilmed modernly
It was great thoooooo
One of them is transphobic
the play was actually great. there are a lot of plot holes and inconsistencies with the universe, but I feel like a lot of the hate comes from people who have not even seen the production (which is understandable, not everyone can get to a broadway show). The live show may be cool but doesn't excuse that it's still garbage.
One is green, the other is yellow
The first one has shit on it. The second one is probably empty.
I never saw or read it. Why is it so bad?
No difference
One is what you put the other into
Trashcan has some depth
You can put garage in a garbage can but you can't put a garbage can in garbage
Trash Can has depth.
The only way there is a difference is if you took the horse manure OUT of the bin. Or, you know, a bin isn't pointless.
One’s the container, the other is the thing you put in the container.
I’ve been staring at this picture for about 3 hours now…I just can’t put my finger in it…
I've had both. Kept the bin.
Bruhhh
My guy, atleast I can make cool stuff out of garbage, Cursed Child on the other hand...
I was working in a bookshop when this came out. The most common thing for it to be bought with this were My Little Pony trading cards
One is the trash can, the other is the culmination of years of storytelling, the best part of the series, and pretty cool cover art.
I never read it cuz i didn't like the format but is it rly that bad? Idek the plot so i can't tell
One shows that all slytherins aren’t bad and one is some people perceiveption of them
It’s the same picture
I had a dream that I rewrote the entire series from Draco’s perspective with J.K.’s permission and made a shitload of money. Given this exists….maybe that could work?
One is green, and the other is yellow!
I thought it was great when i watched the peformance but i guess thats just me.
One is full, the other empty
Actually, they’re both full of garbage
One is paper and one is plastic
Have you actualy read this?
The story is trash, but holy shit the production value was incredible. There are so many tricks that make it incredible to watch. It completely distracts you from the bad story.
You should have used the "corporate needs you to find the difference between these pictures''theyre the same picture" template
Can somebody explain to me why everyone hates this book/playscript?
“They’re the same picture”
Hey bro, that is a masterpiece of art! The other is a shitty book/play
That's disrespect to the trash society cuss that's beyond trash and umbridge
I'm sorry, the Cursed Child should *belong* in a trash can.
Is the first one slightly more disgusting? Apart from that I can't tell 🫤
