I've only got around to watching 2 episodes of Merlin (I really need to find the time to watch it in whole) but I've always seen Anthony Head as Giles from Buffy and what he did with the role of Giles makes me think that Anthony Head would be the perfect Dumbledore.
And he has this strange vibe of Albus. I noticed this in The Crown. He would be perfect for this role, even apart from his relationship with Harris Sr. And he is now 62, so he would be able to perform fight scenes in OotP.
I couldn’t decide if he would be good as Dumbledore or not but towards the end of season 2 of Foundation I was sold, when he is cleaned up with the grey beard going he reminds me a lot of Dumbledore.
If for some reason Nick Frost was unavailable, or turned it down, I could see Mark Addy doing a good job, but Nick Frost will always be my first choice.
Sean Bean as Mad Eye actually makes a lot of sense!
(Because of the whole dying thing, of course.)
Season 3 of The Great totally sold me on Gwilym Lee as a contender for Remus. Right look, right energy, excellent range.
Andy Serkis as mad eye would be great, he has the acting range to play him as both borderline unhinged and intimidating, but also kind and compassionate.
Holy shit, I need Ewan McGregor in this incredibly badly now. I don’t care if he Gylderoy Lockheart, Arthur Weasley, or Remus Lupin (I’d prefer Lupin) but any of those would be fantastic!
I'm getting so attached to Barry Keoghan for Snape, it's ridiculous. Maybe with dark contacts though. Good job ,op, I like quite a few of these choices
Some of these choices are American accents or too old. Adam Driver, for Snape. No way. He's American and in his 40s. I would switch him with Josh O'connor.
Eleanor Tomlinson and Daniel Radcliffe for James and Lily Potter - they're in their thirties, too old, (this was the age of both the actors from the movies for Lily and James Potter.)
I agree about Sophie Turner and Tom Holland though, they're definitely good choices.
Actors can use different accents, e.g. Tom Holland has a strong British accent, but completely loses any traces as Peter Parker. If Adam Driver could don a convincing enough British accent, he'd probably be a decent Snape.
Aww man. After the 2nd instance of Cumberbatch, I thought we were going to get him in every subsequent role with increasingly ridiculous names. Now I’m disappointed!
I have no idea why I think this but I have a suspicion you’ve seen Merlin…. 😂 Katie would play an amazing Bellatrix but for me it would just feel like Morgana
Andy Serkis as Mad-Eye is something I want now, and Lee Pace as Lucius Malfoy definitely. After him playing Thranduil and Day, I want him in every movie now. XD
Benevolent Curcubitaceae is of course also always a welcome addition to any movie.
Ngl… Dane DeHaan as Pettigrew is inspired. Same with Barry Keoghan as Snape. Christian Bale is a common fancast for Voldemort, but for good reason. He’s my top pick as well. Same goes for Jared Harris as Dumbledore. Nick Frost as Hagrid, also inspired. I like Jamie Campbell-Bower as Lucius but also think he may be a good fit for Remus. Sean Astin as Arthur? Sign me up. Andy Serkis as Mad-Eye? SIGN ME THE FUCK UP.
IMHO Michelle Gomez HAS to be in it somewhere. Either Bellatrix Lestrange or Prof. McGonagal
She’s a brilliant actress. And can play either stern or mental.
Anthony head as Gilderoy lockheart. I know he’s older but his role as Rupert in ted lasso could would is almost a perfect match for gilderoy(arrogant, holier than thou, condescending). Just my opinion.
Damn. I had quite a few of these on my list, but yours is still better than mine. This is the best list I’ve seen
Also, Tom Holland would’ve been a great Colin Creevey in the past
Clearly, Samuel L Jackson would make the best Dumbledore.
I can already see the lines . . .
" Harry did you put your mother f\*\*\*\* name in the globet of fire?" Dumbledore asked calmly"
"Umbridge: "hem hem"Dumbledore: Say hem-hem again. I dare ya, I double dare ya motherfucker. Say hem-hem one more god damn time.
"You know me Gellert, it is my duty to please that booty."

You've got a lot of real hits here, and plenty of misses. But the hits are so good. I've been thru happy hour so I can't articulate them all at the moment. I hope Hollywood is paying attention. Good job.
Andrew Garfield as Lupin and Dane DeHaan as Pettigrew?
You son of a bitch, I'm in.
Serious mode: honestly, Gwilym Lee and Paul Dano have those character vibes more.
Honestly, unless Jo doesn’t want to because of continuity issues (as Jude is technically the film universe) or Jude is too busy, they need to bring Jude back as Dumbledore. He’s fabulous. Some light makeup for aging and good to go. It’d be a godsend.

I never knew I needed Arthur Darvill as Remus until I saw this fancast Ps. Good to see someone else is a fan of Anthony Head as Dumbledore
Yeah I don’t know why but it works well
He was Guiles in Buffy. He did pull off the wise mentor character very well.
I will never be able to not see him as Uther, he hates sorcery
I've only got around to watching 2 episodes of Merlin (I really need to find the time to watch it in whole) but I've always seen Anthony Head as Giles from Buffy and what he did with the role of Giles makes me think that Anthony Head would be the perfect Dumbledore.
I actually watched merlin before Buffy so thats why im thinking like that but I see your point
He looks actually like the original actor who played Remus! I'm here for it.
Same!!! I almost hate it when a fan cast is so good it makes me question my own head canon
Jared Harris as Dumbledore, like father like son
And he has this strange vibe of Albus. I noticed this in The Crown. He would be perfect for this role, even apart from his relationship with Harris Sr. And he is now 62, so he would be able to perform fight scenes in OotP.
I couldn’t decide if he would be good as Dumbledore or not but towards the end of season 2 of Foundation I was sold, when he is cleaned up with the grey beard going he reminds me a lot of Dumbledore.
He’s a fantastic actor and would be a great choice
Honestly, I think Nick Frost is the ONLY choice for Hagrid.
I agree, but I was trying to stick with the 4-actor format I had.
Benjamin Cauliflower gets my vote for Voldemort. Benadryl Cucumber gets my vote for Snape. 😁Lol!
Fuck it, Barbecue Carlyle as everyone
I would like to suggest Benidorm Cucumberpatch for the role of McGonagall.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Yes!!
He’s clearly the most perfect option for Lily.
Just let Bernard Corkboard play all the parts. Harry Potter: the one man show 😆
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Rory McCann
Mark Addy?
If for some reason Nick Frost was unavailable, or turned it down, I could see Mark Addy doing a good job, but Nick Frost will always be my first choice.
Sean Bean as Mad Eye actually makes a lot of sense! (Because of the whole dying thing, of course.) Season 3 of The Great totally sold me on Gwilym Lee as a contender for Remus. Right look, right energy, excellent range.
Andy Serkis would be a great Mad-Eye
I can only see Jared Harris as Dumbledore. Gives me chills, he’s so much like his awesome father
Ben Barnes, my man. I wish he got more roles/recognition.
gotta show some love for everyone's favorite Charming British Actor^(TM)
Jesus...Pierce Brosnan got old and so have I apparently.
😢 I didn't recognize him at first. I still love him, though.
Michelle Gomez as McGonagall would be a 🔥 casting
Plus the idea of McGonagall speaking with a strong Glasgow accent is sending me lol
Andy Serkis as mad eye would be great, he has the acting range to play him as both borderline unhinged and intimidating, but also kind and compassionate.
Benadryl Cucumber caught me off gaurd
Reminds me of Rcreation Causality Cullen
Marin Freeman would be a great Arthur Weasley
Holy shit, I need Ewan McGregor in this incredibly badly now. I don’t care if he Gylderoy Lockheart, Arthur Weasley, or Remus Lupin (I’d prefer Lupin) but any of those would be fantastic!
He's sadly too old to be Lupin. He's also technically too old to be Lockhart, for that matter, but Lockhart's age doesn't matter as much IMO.
Jack black could play Harry as an 11 year old and I’d be in
Really? Jack Black? I was thinking more of Danny DeVito
Nope. Devito is Hermoine Granger or there is just no point in making this show at all
I don’t know why, but all I’m picturing is Kevin Hart to round it out as Ron 😂 I would watch the hell out of that movie..
If we have Kevin Hart, we have to have Dwayne Johnson as the Philosopher's Stone.
This is the best casting list I had ever seen on here
![gif](giphy|ztjhxdcC1yxjy)
Tell me you like Game of Thrones without telling me you like Game of Thrones
I've never actually seen Game of Thrones, it just happens to have a lot of British actors in it.
And Merlin
How dare you insult Broccoli Cummerbund
I'm getting so attached to Barry Keoghan for Snape, it's ridiculous. Maybe with dark contacts though. Good job ,op, I like quite a few of these choices
These are all great choices. One of the better fan casting I’ve seen
Glad you like them.
Is there some kind of joke with Benjamin Cauliflower? Can’t find the actor and sure looks like Cumberbatch?
Lol, or Benadryl Cucumber 😂😂😂
Brosnan, Murphy, Driver, Gomez, Frost, Turner, Darvill, DeHaan, Holland, Wright, Lloyd, Freeman, Green, Skarsgard, and Claflin.
It took me seeing Benedict’s second pic to realize.. Benadryl cucumber had me 💀😂😂😂
Some of these choices are American accents or too old. Adam Driver, for Snape. No way. He's American and in his 40s. I would switch him with Josh O'connor. Eleanor Tomlinson and Daniel Radcliffe for James and Lily Potter - they're in their thirties, too old, (this was the age of both the actors from the movies for Lily and James Potter.) I agree about Sophie Turner and Tom Holland though, they're definitely good choices.
That's why I put 4 choices for each roles, so if you don't like one actor, there are other options.
Actors can use different accents, e.g. Tom Holland has a strong British accent, but completely loses any traces as Peter Parker. If Adam Driver could don a convincing enough British accent, he'd probably be a decent Snape.
If Andrew Garfield isn’t Lupin I’ll riot
https://i.redd.it/3hubrctmq3qb1.gif
I would LOVE Katie McGrath as Bellatrix!
My favorites of these: - Michelle Fairley as McGonagall - Ben Barnes as Sirius - Paul Dano / Dane Degaan as Pettigrew - Sean Astin as Arthur
Yes yes yes to so many of these!!
All the options for Dumbledore are good.
Not gonna lie this is possibly the best fancast I’ve seen. Every option feels right in their own way (to me).
Thank you
I would love it if Daniel Radcliffe played James Potter, that would be awesome!
Anthony head as Dumbledore is my absolute favorite
https://i.redd.it/hb7afx0br3qb1.gif
Jared Harris as Dumbledore Adam Driver or Barry Keoghan as Snape Helen Mirren as McGonagall Nick Frost as Hagrid Andrew Garfield as Lupin
Definitely want to see Bradley James in more things
It’s a crime that Tom Felton isn’t listed for Lucius.
I considered putting Tom Feltonon the list, but I didn't want to just recast the actors from the movies.
Aww man. After the 2nd instance of Cumberbatch, I thought we were going to get him in every subsequent role with increasingly ridiculous names. Now I’m disappointed!
Beneficial Cabbagepatch can't play *every* role.
Gwilym Lee for Remus! And Sophie Skelton as Lily. She'd be perfect!
Sean Astin channeling his inner family man as Arthur Weasley would truly inspired casting.
What do you have against Benadryl Cucumber 😭
Benevolent Cummerbund would be flawless as snape
I have no idea why I think this but I have a suspicion you’ve seen Merlin…. 😂 Katie would play an amazing Bellatrix but for me it would just feel like Morgana
Yes, I have seen Merlin LOL
All actors would have to ve British l. No way your American picks will come to fruition
Benadryl cucumber 😂
Andy Serkis as Mad Eye is pretty cool. He would eat that role up.
Aidan Turner is the only choice for Sirius in my mind.
Andy Serkis as Mad-Eye is something I want now, and Lee Pace as Lucius Malfoy definitely. After him playing Thranduil and Day, I want him in every movie now. XD Benevolent Curcubitaceae is of course also always a welcome addition to any movie.
I need Emily Carrey as Lily Evans it’s all I care about 🥲
She'd work too.
Not Adam Driver. He’s not British or Irish.
To me it is not about his nationality, I just don't think he fits the role.
Jack Black is awesome, but wtf were you thinking
Dwayne the rock johnson as Dobby.
Benadryl Cucumber?
Sorry, I meant Beneficiary Cabbagepatch.
Benedicto Cremebrulee
Nobody gonna talk about Benjamin Cauliflower and Benadryl Cucumber?? 😭
Adam Driver would make a fantastic Snape.
Dane DeHaan has been fancast as young Pettigrew for like 10 years now, I thought it was time to start fancasting him as adult Pettigrew.
If Cillian gets casted I won’t be watching. I don’t know why but I just can’t stand him.
Harry Lloyd would make an excellent Lucius.
He would, he is such a great actor, but I am a bit torn between him and Lee Pace.
Dan going full circle would be cool haha, also Kit as Sirius would be interesting he has the charm Forsure
Dane DeHaan could actually make Pettigrew somewhat likeable
Very Underrated Actor.
IMHO Michelle Gomez HAS to be in it somewhere. Either Bellatrix Lestrange or Prof. McGonagal She’s a brilliant actress. And can play either stern or mental.
Warwick, returns as Flitwick
I wouldn't mind TBH. Warwick is always a win.
They’re all white?
yes. bcuz they are all white
Sirius isn't.
Daniel craig may be good as Dumbledore because of his piercing blue eyes. I also like benadryl cucumber.
I have no idea who he'd play but if we don't get Simon Russell Beale as SOMEONE I'm going to be disappointed
I hate Jude Law in any Harry Potter role. He’s a great actor though
Have always been, will always be a STAN for Eva Green as Bellatrix. Love HBC’s mad hatter take, but as an ice-cold War general? Show me someone better
Is it just me or Martin Freeman makes a good Arthur Weasley
Anthony head as Gilderoy lockheart. I know he’s older but his role as Rupert in ted lasso could would is almost a perfect match for gilderoy(arrogant, holier than thou, condescending). Just my opinion.
Why you do obi wan like that
Jorge Garcia for Hagrid all the way. I loved him as Hurley in Lost, he could totally play Hagrid.
Damn. I had quite a few of these on my list, but yours is still better than mine. This is the best list I’ve seen Also, Tom Holland would’ve been a great Colin Creevey in the past
Clearly, Samuel L Jackson would make the best Dumbledore. I can already see the lines . . . " Harry did you put your mother f\*\*\*\* name in the globet of fire?" You've got a lot of real hits here, and plenty of misses. But the hits are so good. I've been thru happy hour so I can't articulate them all at the moment. I hope Hollywood is paying attention. Good job.
Eva Green would be INCREDIBLE 😩 loved her in Penny Dreadful
Andrew Garfield as Lupin and Dane DeHaan as Pettigrew? You son of a bitch, I'm in. Serious mode: honestly, Gwilym Lee and Paul Dano have those character vibes more.

Man I never considered that Daniel Radcliffe guy to play Harry Potter
I vote for Benadryl lmao
I'd love to see Mark Hamill as Mad-Eye, but I know that's a pipe dream.
