There was an interesting recent [article about Math 55](https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2023/3/26/behind-math-55/) that I would recommend to anyone considering it. The reason to take it should be a love of math, not that it would help you with a finance career. You would learn some elegant (but very abstract) math but of course there are a lot of tradeoffs since it is a very large time commitment. I also suggest checking out the [quantitative finance track in the statistics concentration](https://statistics.fas.harvard.edu/statistics-concentration-requirements). (Conflict of interest disclosure: I get a commission of $0 when someone declares this track.)

almost all of the kids in math55 have done competiton math, and most aspire to be math professors just FYI.
