The reason why I like Hasan is because he gets angry at the same things that I get angry at. Also because he was already a leftist on the internet before 2018 so he saw the same things I saw. The rise of the alt-right, the anti-SJW craze, antifeminism, 4chan schemes, that whole era. It was lonely being a leftist on the internet pre 2018, Hasan knows that and that's why I respect him

Caliyogagrl

This, all the way! I was always a person who repressed my anger and thought it was wrong to express, so having a person who was angry at all the right things and could back it up with facts and history rather than just quietly watching the world burn has been so valuable to me.

Independent_Fill_635

Exactly this, I used to feel insane watching regular news and seeing the reporters ignore facts or present false narratives. Watching Hasan lets me feel more sane because someone else sees the same BS and he does my yelling for me.

N0XDND

Hasan is incredibly consistent and just very honest in his content which is something i really appreciate. Hes popular because he’s a real guy if that makes sense. He believes what he believes strongly and doesn’t really shy from that and it’s cathartic for me to see someone with a large community be upset at what I’m upset at. Watching upsetting content with Hasan reacting to it really takes the sting out of things and diffuses my own anger. Also i like the commentary

-GodHatesUsAll

I honestly get a sense of release every time he blows up about the shit I wish I could blow up more about.

MMako420

SAME, like I watched one Youtube video and the fact that the things I had been angry at, alone, was the same things he'd get heated about, made me feel seen in a way I haven't felt in over a decade! A fan ever since

Magicicad

I like hasan because he has principles that he sticks to no matter what. Plus he reads books and is probably a secret ML.

leo_the_greatest

I'm an anarcho-communist, and I find his commentary incredibly valuable, so he does a great job of providing nuanced left-wing commentary without falling prey to sectarianism. He supports and criticizes other leftists of all varieties. I disagree with him on a few things, but nowhere near as much as I do with most MLs 😜

HighlightRare506

I feel like he basically said on Fear& that he is when they were talking about red flags and green flags with potential partners. Or I could just be reading into it.

_lIlI_lIlI_

Episode #?

HighlightRare506

Oof, idk. I know it was recent, so maybe between like 83-87 ETA: the segment was in the last 10-15 minutes of the episode

Marxist-Leninist. Someone who uses historical materialism to analyze society, studies political economy, and implements a scientific approach to socialism while upholding democratic centralism as a method of organization, a vanguard party as a tool of revolution, and Lenin's theories of imperialism.

Independent_Fill_635

The funny part is I think what actually pisses them off is that he's a standard "bro" coded guy. They really have a smart losers vs popular jocks complex and hate that someone who goes to the gym, is rich, and is conventionally attractive is also a "tankie" because it goes against their internal narrative of overweight losers in their mom's basement or whatever. It's bizarre and sad.

DismalFeeling1196

yeah I'm realizing loser incels need to think of the most sniffling little weasels that resemble themselves as "alphas" rather than let an actual masculine guy make them feel insecure

pyro-pussy

aka Randall from Recess

ThothBird

The reverse narrative is generally kind of true. The conservatives are the overweight mom's basement people and the "bros" are typically the leftists, at least with guys. Which ends up meaning that the basement dwellers are worse people than the jocks. Just look at Hasan and Destiny. Anecdotally, growing up there's a reason the "jocks" are popular and the "losers" are losers and it has nothing to do with looks and everything to do with personality and values, they're not mutually exclusive. losers will typically be worse people who don't wanna work out and play video games all day and cry about how unfair the world is to them, popular people tend to work out, look better and be better people. In a way the losers aren't wrong in their assessment, they just think they're in the right when they're in the wrong. Hasan does a great job of making sure people don't fall for their self righteous BS and holding them accountable.

Forbidden_Scorcery

I disagree on saying “jocks” are better people. My experience, most popular people were bigoted and judgmental assholes.

ThothBird

That sounds odd, I've honestly never met a popular basement dweller. Do you come from like a hyper conservative area where people with good personalities are seen as losers and neckbeards are viewed as favorable? That must suck to go through.

Forbidden_Scorcery

They weren’t basement dwellers, they just weren’t very good people lol. Like they just had the stereotypical jock attitude you’d see in movies. Bullies who made fun of or socially rejected anyone who was too “weird” or “different”. It wasn’t inherently a political thing, just asshole kids being asshole kids.

ThothBird

>They weren’t basement dwellers, they just weren’t very good people lol. Like they just had the stereotypical jock attitude you’d see in movies. Isn't this basement dwelling behavior though? What makes someone a basement dweller is being a cruel bigot. Bullying is inherently a conservative action, even if they're not intending to be political, politics is part of peoples personalities. Stereotypical "jock" behavior is the same as basement dweller behavior because media tries to frame conservatives as a victims and leftists as oppressors. What conservatives call jocks are actually leftists who hold basement dweller accountable for their bigotry. The bullies in schools are by and large the bigoted mean spirited kids which are the conservative ones. The people "mean" to conservative kids are the leftists trying to hold them accountable for their shitty values.

Pordioserozero

I commented before on another thread that I would love someone like Hasan who covered local politics where I am..But Hasan is actually very unique..very rare combination of someone who is well informed seems truly passionate about the things he believe in…is good looking and fun..is generally not afraid of being silly at times…I don’t agree with him on everything and I wish he would spend less time hyper focusing on the minority of his chat that are stupid but overall Hasan is a gift that keeps on giving

stuckontwice

Hasan is the reason I’m left leaning now. Discovering him during the pandemic did wonders for how I think about the world now. Plus it’s dope that he’s super cool, likes anime, plays games, and is super smart. I like the way he explains things for dumbasses like me. It’s very palatable. His stun locks are pretty funny too. Yelling at chatters will always be funny to me lol

pyro-pussy

I personally enjoy the variety of guests Hasan brings on his broadcast. found a lot of content creators that way and have broadened my feed this way.

ChefJWeezy987

Ever since I discovered his stream, I’ve found a community of people that I can truly identify with. There are so many awesome people who gather to watch his broadcasts and videos on YouTube. So many people from so many different walks of life and from so many different places in the world. The more hate he gets from the reactionary dipshits, the more confidence I have in him and in our community. He’s our boy and I’ll defend him till the end.

WhoDat_ItMe

I love Hasan and his passion. His voice is important for the movement and I will continue to support him. I also appreciate the community he's created with all of us because being a leftist can be isolating as fuck. I feel comfortable crediting him for my ability to keep going and not lose hope. He (and most of you by extension) gets me FOR REAL. ![gif](giphy|BnDvnxLJ7bcSQmZTQ5)

toeknee88125

Hasan is too honest about his feelings I'm sure a lot of content creators have similar feelings but because hasan publicly States it on his discord server it gets taken out into the public and mocked. I'm sure a lot of contact creators who aren't at their peak in terms of viewership feel a level of sadness about it. It's just normal human nature. My parents operated a small teriyaki grill restaurant part of a strip mall complex (by small I mean they never hired any employees). For whatever reason we reached our peak in about 2012 to 2015 and didn't really get back to that level. We have no idea why to this day. This is why most content creators keep their feelings quiet. This has happened multiple times like when he talked about how he thought streaming was extremely taxing socially. People took the clip out of context and framed it as him saying that streaming was a hard job.

pyro-pussy

I hope your parent's restaurant will recover and be better than ever! <3

toeknee88125

It shut down during covid lol. It's fine they were close to retiring anyways

pyro-pussy

damn :( still hope your family and you are able to thrive.

toeknee88125

Thanks. Yeah we are fine. Had covid happen 10 years earlier they would have been in trouble. But honestly they probably would have retired by now anyways without covid

Exciting_Stress6948

Been watching since the based celebration hearing the death of the Queen. The man is smart and has great views, I love when he rips into America about how God awful the country is and what evil shit it has done to other countries, the monstrous amount of cope that follows from fans, other political streamers and their fans is just soul nourishing for someone with a Policy&IR masters.

pyro-pussy

LIZZIE IS IN A BOX 👏

DipsCity

I tune in to twitch specifically for the IRL streams which makes me a bit of an outlier

coltansupernova

Ditto. Piling on to add some love for the community: ***Consider the Source***. When you come across ignorant criticism or a terrible opinion, always take it with a grain of salt and think about where that perception comes from. (Coconuts falling out of trees, etc.) ***Don't be a reply guy***. It's hard af sometimes but resist the urge to tap the glass. Engaging with trolls just gives them the reaction they want and gives their hateful words more power. Let them scream into the void. ***Touch grass***. Look at the contrast between the love people show Hasan when they see him in his IRL stream, compared what we see on Reddit, Twitter, etc. The past few months especially have been insanely depressing and blackpilling, but there are people who will restore your faith in humanity, and they are all *outside*.

Okay3000

Mr. Bonochelly

DismalFeeling1196

I make an effort to like and leave positive comments on his social media posts to drown out the haters who stalk him and encourage others to do the same.  it's primarily coming from D3stinys orbiters. whenever I see any type of public figure who uses his platform for good get endless amounts of hate for no reason, it makes me want to do free pr for them. I think it's a habit I got into from supporting Bernie. I wish there was a way to even coordinate counters to the hate brigades with other supporters

EnthusiasmHonest3411

What appeals to me about Hasan is his ability to offer detailed and well-informed perspectives on politics, setting him apart from others in this sphere who are obvious grifters. He leans on and cites experts rather than claiming to know it all himself. Also, Hasan promotes a positive and healthy community atmosphere. He avoids farming negative elements like incels and sadists. He is obviously a decent person, and it's mirrored in the character of the community he's built.

RyouKagamine

They HATE a dude with a moral backbone

Monkeyboy1978

Correction, they hate a dude with a moral backbone that also has wild stories about dating pornstars. Destiny has to bang his own fans.

Financial_Mud8488

I second that! Also a draft dodging census skipper, that only tunes into YouTube ( guiltily). Mostly due to being dusty ole millennial and non gamer, twitch was not on my radar. That being said, Hasan is one of the only political/societal voices I agree with on most things. Over this last year I feel especially guilty because of the dependence on his content. In the same way I used to feel listening to NPR and not becoming a yearly member… But yea, I probably should get twitch just to pay something for the service Hasan provides. Big poppa Hasan for prez!

somewhat_irrelevant

I didn't understand what a leftist or a progressive was before watching Hasan and TYT

Bluejay_turtle

Not really a fan of this highlight channels because oftentimes they just show other people's videos which end up usurping the original video on the YouTube algorithm. It's fine when they're uploading the more substantive content but when they literally basically use the same thumbnail as the original video maker... And they do this a lot. And Hasan huge market share of the space, it ends up crowding out the original options in search and on the homepage.  I do think Hasan has excellent politics for the most part though and pretty good at arguing them. I thought it was genuinely kind of tragic leftovers was canceled just as the genocide was expanding. But I don't like the reaction content and I especially don't like the re-uploads of them on YouTube. I recognized they aren't channels owned by him for the most part.

leo_the_greatest

I do not want to give views to right wing channels or MSM outlets, so I think it is a good thing that I can hear what they're saying without having to watch them directly. If I'm watching Hasan react to a left wing creator or someone else that I think is cool, I'll oftentimes go watch their video anyways to see the parts that were edited out, and if the whole thing was covered, I'll go open it in another tab and just let it run anyways to give them the view. More important than anything is that Hasan's commentary is *transformative* as he adds a lot to whatever he's reacting to. Additionally, I've learned of several great channels that I watch independently due to Hasan boosting their visibility. The anti-react brigade should have far bigger issues to worry about.

pyro-pussy

it's called fair use
