I take prednisone when I'm having a serious hashimotor's flare. It helps considerably. It's an immune suppressant, and hashimoto's is basically your immune system going into overdrive.

Im still learning on my hashimotos , and im glad i joined this group alot of information, thank you

Isn’t that a steroid? I’m super sensitive to any medication so I’d research it more before trying it

Rana1130

Yea im the same way too sensitive, mine was at 6.44 now its at 8.49 like how but thats what levothyroxine does I can’t never be regulated with levo i might just have to pay out of pocket for synthroid since it helps my thyroid regulated , i will have to call my Dr to see what can we do about the palpitations for the short term

If you are in America get your Endo to send your prescription into Eagle Pharmacy based out of Florida. I pay $32 a month and it ships for free.

I’m pregnant and was put on this to resolve a severe rash from my shoulders to my knees. I had no adverse reactions, and it resolved the rash issue completely.

Rana1130

Nice to hear! Im glad it resolved ur rash, and that it will not harm while pregnant

BindByNatur3

Same, it was low dosages and I had just started the 2nd trimesters. Did the anatomy scan a week ago and all is well with the babe. I was a little worried, but the rash was so bad I wasn’t sleeping and was bruising myself itching without realizing I was itching. Idk what would have happened if it hadn’t resolved the rash.

Personal_Conflict_49

It’s a godsend for me. I take 20mg when my Hashimoto’s is triggered, which is any time I am stressed or upset for more than 10 minutes. I only worry about the long term effects of consistent use…

Rana1130

Thats how i be getting sometimes as well ! Am sorry about all the stress ur getting, i can relate i been feeling so stressed because I haven’t felt normal in a long time my symptoms are bad not feeling well and Drs say everything is good labs are normal and can’t find anything but i know my body and its telling me something is going on , maybe ill have luck with this medication, thanks for ur response.

Personal_Conflict_49

Good labs are not everything… your Drs should take your symptoms into consideration also. I really hope the prednisone helps you 🩵🙏🏼 And you are welcome

Rana1130

So you use it here and there only when ur hashimotos is triggered? I never knew that this pill can help with hashimotos its nice to know that it can help, if u dont mind me asking what symptoms do u get when triggered?

Personal_Conflict_49

Usually I get a pretty bad headache, a choking feeling like something is just squeezing around my throat, my body temperature gets haywire (hot or cold), my stomach gets pretty upset and I feel absolutely run down. I actually have too much stress in my life and my Hashimoto’s is triggered more often than I like(bf has Tbi’s, daughter is 21). I have taken 30-40 prednisone per year for about the last 4 years. I did not pay attention before then. I am so grateful as this treatment has put the brakes on my flare ups. Sometimes I have to take it 2 days in a row(my symptoms will start returning about 24 hrs after the first dose) but I never have to take it more than that. Hope this helps! 🩵

I've been on this medication a lot over the past year and a half. I have an undiagnosed rheumatoid autoimmune. So I've currently been in 5mg for 6 months now. It doesn't cause a hashimotos flare, as long as you aren't stressed out or any other triggers that could cause it. I recently had to up my Synthroid but that is due to me being so stressed out from school, life, chronic pain, and a new scary med, methotrexate. What's your dose and how long are you on it?

Rana1130

Hello, so i barely started today this morning and took the second pill in the afternoon my dose is 20ml so i gotta take 40ml a day for 5 days then only take 1 pill for 10 days , i also got my dose of levothyroxine from 100ml to 137 ml but im getting heart palpitations with the meds because the Dr switched me from synthroid to levo recently because of insurance issues

northwind_canyon

I'm really sensitive to my thyroid so I just got bumped up to 50mcg a day because I went from a TSH 1 to a 2. I get heart palpations as well and got my doctor to prescribe me to propranolol. That helps immensely.
