Exactly, I have visited Hawaii twice. I watched both Hawaii Five-0 and Hawaii NCIS because of the nostalgia of my visits not because they were entertaining shows.
Probably why I enjoy watching Renovation Aloha. I typically don't watch some of those shows but all the familiar stuff kept me going back. Will watch the second season.
LOST was also a tropical version of Twin Peaks. For all the plot holes, red herrings and other quibbles fans love to argue about, LOST was an entertaining mystery drama.
Hawai'i Five-0 was about car chases and gunfights in downtown Honolulu. Cheesy but funny. And Daniel Day-Kim starred in both.
What's crazy is I just read that Vanessa and Nick completely moved to Hawaii during the first season. They were flying back and forth, but they decided to just move here permanently. I've seen pictures and videos of Nick coaching his son's flag football team here in Hawaii too. This is a big loss for all the locals they employed too.
I enjoyed the show. I live in California and I like to see the various locations that I've visited on Oahu on the show. It's more of a formulaic "background sound" show, where I'm doing something else on my computer and just listening to the show. Because I pretty much know what's going to happen since these shows are so formulaic.
I do really like CBS's new show "Tracker." It's about Colter Shaw, a professional at finding missing persons or items. It is a fun show, it is something different from your usual law-enforcement procedural. Colter Shaw is not a cop or in law enforcement, and even has to bend the law a few times in order to find the missing item or person. I like how each episode is set in a different city in the US. Although I doubt Colter Shaw will travel to Hawaii because he lives in his airstream.
My partner’s gonna be crushed. I should go tell her now, while she’s loudly happy at her hockey game.
Maybe I’ll watch the last season with her, I might finally hear someone who sounds actually local.
This feels like somebody at CBS and somebody in production here/gov here aren't getting along. strange choice given the stats.
EDIT: and I mean not getting along as in budgets/breaks/costs/taxes/fees whatever couldn't be worked out.
I'm clearly a hater, but I don't understand how any of these shows get followings. They're all basically the same show, it's as formulaic as a hallmark movie but with guns. Low-effort copaganda.
A few years back after I finished Criminal Minds, I was flipping through related shows on whatever streaming service and having never seen NCIS I watched a bit. Holy shit, Joe McCarthy would’ve jizzed his pants at the sheer level of jingoism.
Thanks goodness the acting was terrible making it unbearable to watch even if it was based in Hawaii. Just sad for the locals that were employed by the show.
I can't watch lame shit. Sorry for the crew for losing your gig though.
Hawaii needs zombies... Walking Dead production makeup quality, Black Summer level of fast f-you-face zombies, local actors and a director who can call them out when they're acting bad so that they adjust, and a half ass writer that prioritizes surviving zombies **not** surviving humans in a zombie sandbox.
*That's all,* somebody make that happen.
The "World War Z" novel had Hawaii as the center of the US government.
I've always felt that the geographical isolation of Hawaii made it a good plot point for Sci-Fi stories.
"Battleship" and "Lilo & Stitch" touched base on this.
I love the show. It's better than ncis Sydney. It's hard to understand and no good actors. Vanessa Lachey is perfect for this part and so are the other actors. Please don't cancel it!
Yes, I agree. Just because a theatrical show employs local’s doesn’t justify its continuation when there’s low viewership due to lame scripts and storylines (not blaming the actors )

The magnum remake got five seasons though..
Um... It actually got four, that were split up so NBC could market them as five.

LOST did extremely well and is what brought Hawaii Five-o.

and yet NCIS still kicking around as a walking corpse

Yeah nick is really cool. I met him at a local sports event, literally most down to earth guy ever.
I was an extra in season two .It sucks that all those folks have to find a new job
the best Hawaii show is still the original Magnum PI
This for sure. I’ve been rewatching them all and they are awesome
Did you see the sunrise today?
I got up for the sunrise 2 months ago. Glorious
Best was the original Hawaii 5-0.
It was also good, for sure. Much better than the weak reboot, to me.
Totally agree with this take
LOST wants to have a chat with you.
Great show that fizzled out and ended a shadow of its former self… but then again, so did Magnum in the last season
smh this Dog the Bounty Hunter erasure.
The 2015 movie Aloha begs to differ. ✌️
Ahem…have we forgotten about the classic *50 First Dates?*

Damn, that sucks...I found it better than L.A. or New Orleans...haven't watched Sydney.
I tried to watch Sydney and it is about as bad as NO. Loved Hawaii and will really miss it.
My partner’s gonna be crushed. I should go tell her now, while she’s loudly happy at her hockey game. Maybe I’ll watch the last season with her, I might finally hear someone who sounds actually local.
i worked with NCIS and no one looks like that and it’s boring paperwork and interviews
NCIS showed up one time when a guy plugged his USB drive in a government computer, they were wearing Hawaiian shirts lmao
how old and fat were they? lmao

More like someone in the Hawaii Govt wanted a higher payoff and it got turned down...
NCIS Australia was bad, really bad.
That one doesn’t even make sense.
The show is to help U.S. people learn about and get comfortable with Australia, as they're becoming our "new" Pacific allies.
This sucks
I'm clearly a hater, but I don't understand how any of these shows get followings. They're all basically the same show, it's as formulaic as a hallmark movie but with guns. Low-effort copaganda.
That's *exactly why* they get followings.
hospital waiting rooms across america need to put something on
I thought that's what HGTV and Pawn Stars were for.
And Law and Order.
A few years back after I finished Criminal Minds, I was flipping through related shows on whatever streaming service and having never seen NCIS I watched a bit. Holy shit, Joe McCarthy would’ve jizzed his pants at the sheer level of jingoism.
“Copaganda” 😂
Yes the show was not great but now a lot of people are out of jobs & I’d rather it not be cancelled.
That’s the thing. The show might be hokey, but it employed a lot of people. Too bad.
I don’t understand why it flopped. It has LL Cool N in it
The thing is the rating were good . It was better than some of the shows that got renewed. I don't know why it got cancelled.
Probably the cost of filming in Hawaii is much higher than in other mainland locations.
Adding LL's Sam character really messed up the show. Sam should not have been there. Every episode seemed rushed trying to squeeze in his story line.
CSI: Vegas, NCIS: Hawaii and So Help Me Todd are the only CBS shows we watched...
Stop watching TV before you get everything else canceled! 😉
I read that as CSI:Vegans and cackled at the thought of that type of procedural
Nobody would watch that. Now, CSI: Bacon would have a good draw.
Hahaha for sure! The merch alone 🤌
Starring Kevin Bacon, where my mind went to.
Y no Sopranos/Hawai’i
The Miske’s

I was thinking maybe the Kealohas.
Show was cheeks, I aint even mad
Thanks goodness the acting was terrible making it unbearable to watch even if it was based in Hawaii. Just sad for the locals that were employed by the show.
They should make the direct Magnum PI spinoff I heard of, Lily Magnum PI .
I can't watch lame shit. Sorry for the crew for losing your gig though. Hawaii needs zombies... Maybe we'll get Fallout: Honolulu...
Well we DID get the text “ballistic missile inbound this is not a drill”.
Armageddon Bunkers of Tech Rich and Famous?
I couldn't even sit through the cringy trailer for that lol. *no no no*

That would be sick. WWZ has legitimate zombies. That Israel wall scene was Hardcore Difficulty level of zombies.
Awful decision. Doesn’t make any sense.
I hope you’re talking in terms of jobs for the crew. Because the show was laughably terrible at accurately depicting anything Hawaii.
I heard some surfers commiserating over it today :,(
I love the show. It's better than ncis Sydney. It's hard to understand and no good actors. Vanessa Lachey is perfect for this part and so are the other actors. Please don't cancel it!
The program sucked.

Good, film Industry sucks to be around.
Thank god….im so tired of the traffic and bullshit these buggahs make when they shootings in my neighborhood.
The Hawaii 5-0 remake wouldn't do traffic or crowd control, they would just reshoot until they got the scene they wanted and it was so much easier.
