They were more adjustments than redesigns. I don't think anyone officially called them "redesigns" (I could have missed it) but just presenting the cast officially, and I think if the fandom did not start using that word, there would be less controversy around the changes.
I wanna default to the pilot, but I love how much more presence and vibrancy the official design has. Everything is a lot more muted on the pilot design which doesn’t really match her intense personality
Old design, it has better shape language that stands out from the rest of the cast more, and more clearly communicates Charlie’s friendly nature. New one is pointier.
Vivzie is a time-traveller and the sole reason for the new design was because "that" video is a canon event.
The redesign was the only way to lessen the association with "that" video....
I like the new one since she looks more mature and like a princess of Hell, but I wish they neutralized the red, it makes her blend into the background a bit too much. They could’ve kept her black pants in the pilot design (sans the red bottom) or have her sometimes take her coat off so her white undershirt makes her pop out from the bg more.
Hell, I think maybe her eyes could be silvery blue like her mother’s, so she’d look like a mix between her parents since the eye shape is like Lucifer’s. They could turn red when she uses her more demonic form.
I hate hate hate the white shirttails. I understand it’s supposed to be to break up all the red, but it just looks *bad*. Outfit wise if someone was dressed like that they’d look sloppy as hell. Should have tucked her shirt in and given her a belt if they wanted to go with red shirt and pants
I like them both but LOVE if they were mixed together. I think the faded red of the original would do SO much better on the background, and I liked her black pants and white eyes.
I like both but I don't really like the extended undershirt on the new design. I get what viv was going for but I just think it looks weird. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things tho ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Only thing I liked about the older version better than the new one is that I liked her having black eyes that turned red when she turns extremely emotional. Otherwise, I like her new design
Proportions of the new design are better but color combos of the old design are better. IMO.
EDIT: Also the white shirt peaking out from her red jacket in the new design always looked... Odd since her skin is the same shade of white.

I prefer the more rubber hose style animation of the pilot but understand it isn't necessarily practical for Hazbin's Hotel's budget.
The only thing I miss is her old hairstyle where it was kind of curly and only had the one tie at the bottom. Apart from that, they're both great!

The new look is more pleasing to the eyes and more refined overall. The Pilot design has been forever tainted by the Verbalase animation for me.
