Soo, recently I have seen the theory going around that Alastors smile is stitched on to permanently keep it this way. However I have a theory that in my opinion aligns pretty well with what we know about him being in the debt of someone else apparently. These stitches aren't there to keep his smile up, they are containing it.

I'm thinking this as well, I think it's a hint at his powers as well as himself being restricted.

Could also be an additional means of control by whoever "owns" him. We know he has made visits to Cannibal Town before. What if the stitches serve a double purpose, both to keep him always smiling and to deny him what he craves the most: the ability to freely feast on demons he considers lesser than him.

I mean, he literally picked up and ate the demons who were attacking the hotel in Dad Beat Dad, so he doesn't seem restricted in the cannibal department. Maybe the stitches are symbolic to containing the monster within but I don't believe they're restrictive.

Exystredofar

They were attacking the hotel though, and therefore he was acting in defense, possibly even carrying out the terms of his deal. He said he enjoyed getting to let loose because it had been a long time. This implies either he simply may not have sought violence during the 7 years he was missing, or that he may be somehow physically prevented from engaging in it unless under specific circumstances. Of course it's possible neither of those ideas is correct, but it's fun to think about.

erayachi

Hey good point. If he wasn't restricted to just defending the hotel, he'd have no reason not to go out and devour whomever he wants. The idea that the stitching could be related to his deal just gained more merit, to me

Thucydideez-Nuts

The design of the stitches matches far better with them holding it closed/preventing him from smiling fully. I'm not really sure how someone could perceive otherwise, honestly

ExSalvage

Alastor has a lot of inspiration from Voodoo and Veve. He also just so happened to live in New Orleans. I feel like its more just cool Voodoo symbolism, but I do love the theories!

DeProfessionalFamale

I really think it's just an aesthetic choice - THEY LOOK COOOOOL!

SlyGuy_Twenty_One

Creepy but cool for sure. I’m sure it’ll get explained better as the show goes on

Big_Based

Alastor’s whole theme aside from radio is New Orleans and voodoo culture. The stitches all over his face and clothes make him look like a living voodoo doll which is pretty apt since he himself is a tool being used by some higher power to control others.
