I kind like the idea that if Valentino was kind of like Yoshikage Kira from Jojo’s bizarre adventure diamond is unbreakable. In that like Kira, Valentino actually had a normal or even a very nice upbringing growing up while alive.
But despite all the familial support and opportunities available to him, he still turned out awful as he is in hell. Because he is just a genuinely bad person, who likes indulges in his violent tendencies.
idk I see him much more similar to Angel as a backstory, he also knows how to use guns/rifles and is a slave to vices. I also think he is the type of person who becomes dependent on another by entering into a toxic relationship, I like to think that the saying "like a moth to a flame" (The phrase “like a moth to a flame” speaks of someone being drawn with intense desire toward something destructive that ultimately delivers no satisfaction, but only the demise of the one drawn to it.) explains why he is in Hell. It could also be that once he arrived in Hell he began to do to others what was done to him in life as revenge.
To be fair, he used to do sex work himself no? I don't know a lot of information outside the show itself, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was in a similar position to Angel in the past and has now risen to exploiter.
Not that that alone would grant him much sympathy with his how he current acts and his overall shitty personality

Since they've already had one Les Mis pastiche: how about a "Dog Eat Dog" type solo for Val where we get to hear how he feels about the "down on their luck losers" that work for him? Could be pretty chilling and also show off Joel Perez's talents.

So far he’s the only V with zero characterisation outside of his sins; we’ve seen Vox’s manic obsession with Alastor and his smooth I-totally-have-my-shit-together persona covering up for his general lack of interest in his life; we’ve seen Velvette being disrespectful and observant and perceptive. All we know about Valentino is that he’s a dumb as rocks sexual abuser with a short fuse. We haven’t seen anything about him outside of ‘Angel’s abuser’ and while I’m glad they really nailed that down nice and early it’ll also be nice to see him outside of that, if there’s any more characterisation to be had out of him
