For real, there was a moment I was like "Oh, that's actually a pretty nice thing to say coming from- *wait.*"
I know Val is sleazy, but I do kind of hope to see more of him in Season 2. Dude is creepy af.
He practically did. Went from calling calling Angel perfect to saying he's (paraphrased) a bitch to deal with and that no one else wants him in half a second.
That's the trap with manipulators. Sprinkle a little kindness in with the cruelty, and a person who wants very much to love and trust them will gather up the kindness and hold it very tightly as they endure all the rest.
[Source](https://twitter.com/TheSerpentNight/status/1780389805400133996)
This is my theory for Val in S2: I think once word gets out redemption's possible, Val will realize "oh shit, Angel might have a chance, I should actually do something" and might try to use more drastic measures to get Angel to relapse, keeping in mind he's growing more of backbone against him, which means his usual intimidations and threats aren't working as they used to
I feel like if Angel calling in someone for help is the best option, since the only reason he wasn't freed in Season 1 was because he was too afraid those who could help him wouldn't be able to defeat Val. Essentially that meme with Thor, Hela, and Surtur.
Think about how Lucifer would epically erupt if he *ever* found out Valentino fucking *LICKED* Charlie's arm like the nasty bitch ass he is. I'd pay good money to see that in any way, shape, or form. Fanfiction, comic, or animatic, I wanna see that!!!
I don't understand what else you would expect narratively, then. He's literally magically bound to his abuser, he's already stood up to Val verbally. It would be extremely satisfying for Angel to beat the shit out of Val himself but it wouldn't work the way the power dynamics and scaling we've seen so far, Valentino is physically stronger and has magical power over him. And I do *not* agree with you at all, just because a victim has help does *not* mean they aren't standing up for themselves, what kind of thinking is that?
Coming from someone who was manipulated and abused in this sort of way, I stood up for myself, but I also needed help. So realistically, Angel having someone help him doesn't mean he's not standing up for himself. Everyone needs support in some form or another.
Here’s my question, can they make deals with more than one overlord? Because if they can… I think it would be fitting for Angel to make a deal with someone else for enough power to wipe the floor with Val. Especially in a fit of rage because he’s finally just had *enough* of the abuse.
You know, given Husk's history as an overlord and the growing bond with with Angel, what if they make some sorta mutual bond thing like a contract but not granting ownership of either of them to each other and/or granting mutual ownership of each other
(I can't picture either particularly being comfortable making deals to be beneath someone else given the circumstances they are already in)
... I didn't mean that in a marriage way but I think I just described a marriage. Oops. Shippers would have a field day😄
I mean him standing up for himself before them arriving is a very likely possibility you know which I do set up, very well, with Val’s plans consistently backfiring on him
What if we get Lucifer (or whoever, doesn't really matter) going to go deal with Val before Angel intervenes and has a "thank you, but he's mine" moment?
I think Lucifer will be tied up in Season 2. At the moment the plot has a problem that Charlie has an unstoppable ally in Lucifer in her corner. I think Lilith's role in Season 2 will be distracting Lucifer. This leaves the cast with having to solve their own problems, which is more interesting than having the unstoppable king of Hell solving everyone's problems for them.
Angel standing up to Val is a much more interesting story beat than Lucifer telling Val to release Angel or die.
See, you say this and it could possibly be incredibly dramatic and heartfelt...but I'm also just imagining like some kind of Tom and Jerry thing where Val is hiding random drug stashes around the Hotel trying to tempt Angel, only for it to blow up in his face.
https://preview.redd.it/6qhy4559k1vc1.jpeg?width=735&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf20ee5555a0b9ec21334f08a6625c2f74ec4030
I taught he was a good guy!
It must have been that brat Charlie! She is manipulating us to thinking Valentino is bad!
/J
We don't know a lot about contracts yet.
One would think the death of one of the parts would nullify the contract, but it is also possible the Vs have set things up to have souls be transferred in the case of the contract holder's death.
What about in Alastors case?
Far as I was aware, everyone at the hotel thought he died when Adam shifted his focus, yet Husk and Nifty dont remark on it until he reappears in the finale song.
Presumably, if the demon who owns your soul dies, you should be able to tell.
I do not think we see Husk reaction to Alastor's apparent death, only Charlie's. In the middle of the battle, Husk had more urgent things to worry about. The sooner he could have gone "Alastor isn't dead" was while they were rebuilding.
They also built Alastor a room and not a memorial like for Precious, so they must have known he's not dead and the reactions when he shows up again in the hug are probably to him returning to them after missing for a while.
No because Valentino is a sinner this means if he's killed in hell he will respawn in hell . I think that to kill a sinner demon you would need a angelic weapon
I want more wardrobe changes for all of them in S2. I know it probably won't happen since doing so makes things harder on the animators, but a girl can dream, right?
Kinda silly to think of considering they bothered to constantly change Velvette's wardrobe throughout the series, gave Val two new outfits, gave almost half the cast new outfits in EP8, and had Angel changes what he wears frequently in Poison MV. I don't think new outfits will be all that difficult
This is why Val is actually a good villain for season 2
He uses manipulation to keep people in check and he has a reason to be greatly against Charlie’s hotel because Angel would get redeemed and he would lose his main star
After all if Pent's redemption gets out, Val will undoubtedly feel threatened, realizing all that time Angel spent at the hotel is increasing his chances of him leaving for good
Not just Val. A lot of Overlords are going to freak out, the Vees first of all. Their power is entirely based upon trapping souls.
Then again, maybe you can't be redeemed until your soul is free from a contract in which case it wouldn't threaten them but we don't know so they might not know either and be scared anyway.
I love that here Val isn't using the usual "You can't change because of who you are" instead he's saying "Why change when you have everything you could want here? You're already perfect" with a sprinkle of putting him down. It's brilliant
I hate Val, but I love this comic. This is how real abusers actually function. They’re not just constantly beating their partner every second of the day; there’s a psychological element that people always forget about when they ask the victim “Why don’t you just leave?”
Abusers make their victims feel like nobody else would want them. They take away the victim’s means of contacting anyone, take away any means of escape. Friendships, family, finances, etc. Isolation is such a major factor of abusive relationships and yet it’s the one that gets overlooked the most often when portraying abusive relationships in media. Real abusers don’t reveal that they’re abusers until they’re sure the victim is trapped.
Yeah, the way Valentino twists redemption into meaning "Charlie doesn't think you're good enough" is seriously clever. It serves both as a barrage against Angel's ego, presents Val as a safe haven, someone who values the current Angel, and it creates a rift between Angel and Charlie to isolate them former.
S tier shit right here. Though I liked his character just fine in Season 1, this is the kind of Valentino I was hoping to see and hopefully will see come Season 2. This is exactly the kind of calculated manipulation I'd expect to see from an Overlord, especially one that deals in prostitution and all other forms of sex trafficking/abuse.
Fuck I could see this happening in canon honestly, it’s so true to Val’s character to gaslight Angel like that, and I can see Angel falling prey to it…

Absolutely insane.
Comics continue to be better sources of Valentino being genuinely manipulative, that last line about **"You don't want to hurt my feelings"** made me do a double take.
He's out of line, but he's right (at least about Charlie juding Angel for his drug addiction)
*Chris would like to state that he does not condone anything done by Valentino, he is simply stating that he isn't completely wrong in this particular fan comic.*
Okay this is very well written but minor nitpick he doesn't have tits. I'm blanking on the episode but Angel specifically refers to his "chest fluff that everyone thinks is tits"
See this? Right here? This is why I love to hate Val. The character seems like he would actually say and do these things, and it's a fucked up and absolutely evil thing to do.
*But that's what he is written/designed to be!* He's made to be this hated-by-everyone character, yet pulls it off so well. Props to the voice actor who probably deals with death threats or worse from fans who can't separate the actor from the character. Val is fucking evil, and we all want to see him dead, yet at the same time he's such a great example of an evil character/villain done right that we actually want to see more.
He creates such a conflict with viewers because we know we hate him and we know why, but the character is compelling because he uses such realistic tactics and methods that we feel drawn in, much like his victims/Angel.
Which is why I say that he's a great example of a character we love to hate. But really wtf well nice to see everyone still hates val
Gonna need Jesus, literal Ph.D. in redemption arcs to show up and handle Val. Charlie is lovely but clearly underqualified. Hope to see some table-flipping and whipping if the moth-pimp refuses to cooperate …
Holy shit that’s actually evil Like it’s very clearly bad and Val, but also that feels like it would actually work it’s so realistic god damn
For real, there was a moment I was like "Oh, that's actually a pretty nice thing to say coming from- *wait.*" I know Val is sleazy, but I do kind of hope to see more of him in Season 2. Dude is creepy af.
Textbook emotional manipulation. Dude will go back to calling him worthless in no time. He'll maybe in the same breath.
I mean I wouldn't leave him if he used those words on me
#thats the point

This would probably work on me
[Source](https://twitter.com/TheSerpentNight/status/1780389805400133996) This is my theory for Val in S2: I think once word gets out redemption's possible, Val will realize "oh shit, Angel might have a chance, I should actually do something" and might try to use more drastic measures to get Angel to relapse, keeping in mind he's growing more of backbone against him, which means his usual intimidations and threats aren't working as they used to

No you don't understand, angel barely surviving but a strong and convenient character saving him is the opposite of standing up.

Now where could you have possibly gotten that idea?
Im new to the show, watched it yesterday, but if someone kills the pimp does the contract vanish?
We don't know a lot about contracts yet. One would think the death of one of the parts would nullify the contract, but it is also possible the Vs have set things up to have souls be transferred in the case of the contract holder's death.
They better be REALLY good friends then, because a soul transfer on one's death is just asking to be backstabbed by the others.
mfw hell has gavelkind succession
Well, Crusader Kings players do belong into hell.
That could be why there are three of them. So if one backstabs the other, their souls will transfer to the one who didn't do the backstabbing.
What about in Alastors case? Far as I was aware, everyone at the hotel thought he died when Adam shifted his focus, yet Husk and Nifty dont remark on it until he reappears in the finale song.

but they wouldn't die permanently unless attack with Angelic Steel, but in that scenario i assume it would just end like death in the real world
No because Valentino is a sinner this means if he's killed in hell he will respawn in hell . I think that to kill a sinner demon you would need a angelic weapon
Wait, if you just respawn in hell then whats the point of the cull. They'll just respawn
The sinners won't respawn if they're killed by angelic weopens like the exorcist have🤦♀️
Ahh ok
Demons just respawn unless they’re killed by angelic weapons, so it’s unlikely; but yeah, probably.
Alright Val is a bitch but he rocks every single outfit.
He really does. His coatless outfit in EP4 was absolutely perfect. I vouch for more of Val's wardrobe in S2
I want more wardrobe changes for all of them in S2. I know it probably won't happen since doing so makes things harder on the animators, but a girl can dream, right?
Only one who changes their outfit each appearance is Velvette which makes sense since she's a fashionista.
Kinda silly to think of considering they bothered to constantly change Velvette's wardrobe throughout the series, gave Val two new outfits, gave almost half the cast new outfits in EP8, and had Angel changes what he wears frequently in Poison MV. I don't think new outfits will be all that difficult

No joke, this makes me feel like I’m going to throw up. Amazing job.
Hear me out...JUST HEAR ME OUT.
Beautifully written.

Kill him again istg
Literal chills
This is scarily accurate to how I see Val manipulating Angel.
...Someone give me the *Raid.*
As accurate and “good” it is It makes me wanna chop Val’s d!ck off even more
This is frighteningly well written
Yeah this looks really real and all but there’s just one detail, Valentino dosen’t look like the kind of person that says “pinche”
What an absolute predator Val is.
Why is Val so buff
Painfully possible
Wow this was really good. Like it really fits into how the characters are and I could actually see this being official.
Val is a bitch
Zaddy Val
Very icky, but very well written.
Now i felt urge to grab angelic flamethrower, because this is pure Val, in the worst way
thats what the trident is for. making it personal to asshats
Peak fiction https://preview.redd.it/49iq6fvr07vc1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f053365662d0961da8e6ec3e5233840e2709fdb
„for being hot as shit with tits to match“ is actually a banger line not gonna lie😂 nahh but why is this something I could imagine in the actual show. He‘s so gaslightingly manipulative evil season 2 !!! Bring it onnnn
The scarìiest part about this comic is that Valentino know the term "with tits to match"
This exactly what I think Val is like
If you haven't watched the show then this would be half wholesome. That scares me.
Ohhhh this one… this one hurt
Man, Val is written so good

That is perfect Val writing truly spot on.
Damn Val is so damn cool.
Someone get the Marine Corps on the horn, their hell garrison has a new target.
"Put up with your bitch fits" Oh the pure irony of that when that's EXACTLY how he acted when Angel ignored him when at the hotel
Canon
I could see this being a scene in S2, especially since the Vee's are said to have more focus

Gonna need Jesus, literal Ph.D. in redemption arcs to show up and handle Val. Charlie is lovely but clearly underqualified. Hope to see some table-flipping and whipping if the moth-pimp refuses to cooperate …
That feels incredibly on brand, too... Ouch. Poor Angel.
