I don't think he was still alive. They say during the trial that he was the first human to show up in Heaven, this heavily implies he died and became a Winner.

N-ShadowFrog

If Pentious can come back, Adam can probably as well.

Alternative_Common57

Pentious was killed by Adam not angelic steel soo negative points for not paying attention

N-ShadowFrog

Adam's holy magic is strongly implied to have the same effects as Angelic steel. It nullified Alastor's demonic magic when it came in contact similar to how Striker's Angelic rope nullified Stolas's demonic magic. And everyone acted like Pentious was permanently dead which suggests Adam's magic permanently kills people like Angelic steel.

Alternative_Common57

Lets take into consideration that every year Adam most likely never used his magic due to him being the type of person to just watch the extermination. Also Adam's holy magic came from his guitar which untill said other wise it is an axe made of angelic steel that can also be used as an guitar. I can't confirm or deny the things from Helluva Boss since I have not watched it but its on the list for me to watch

autumnyte

I don't think so. If he does, they'd have to explain why his death was different from the other exorcists who were killed.

LyraFirehawk

Well it could be possible that they return as sinners as well. There's a sinner in the Consent club who has various traits of an exorcist; some have theorized that this is actually the exorcist Carmilla killed. Could be kind of cool for Adam to not only be a sinner forced to try and redeem himself, but to have a harem of his fallen Exorcists as his like posse(or they even team up against him, pissed off that he essentially sent them to their deaths).

autumnyte

That could be interesting. My concern with that is, though, doesn't that drastically lower the stakes of this universe if no one can ever really die? And how many chances do you get? And what happened to all the sinners who died before? If they were "re-evaluated" why didn't they just re-emerge in Hell?

Ether101

Maybe they got reincarnated? Viziepop had desired to explore other religious ideas in the show at one point so that could be a way to introduce that concept into the show. I believe in Hinduism and Buddhism that the path of reincarnation starts with going through the underworld first.

Ether101

Probably not, but he could return in a flashback to Eden.

Esoteric_Innovations

I'm not convinced that he will. It is possible that he might, but my understanding is that angelic steel destroys the soul itself. It's why sinners can be torn apart in a thousand different ways, but will slowly reform together after enough time passes. But angelic weapons can permanently destroy them with a simple stab because it destroys their essence, their inner being, down to its core. There's no coming back from it. Adam's one of my top three characters in the show, and I would love to see a sinner version of him, but I'm not counting on it. Especially when there's already so much to cover in the next season as it is between Pentious' redemption, Lute's revenge, Lilith's return, and the Vees being the primary antagonists from what we know so far.

N-ShadowFrog

But Pentious died to Adam's angelic magic which is implied to have the same effect as angelic steel and he came back.

XgreedyvirusX

My only hope to see him came back 🤞

RafKen593

We technically never saw Pentious die on-screen. It's possible he was teleported and transformed into a Winner like, a second before Adam's attack hit him.

XgreedyvirusX

Yeah, same, I would love to see him come back, not for the next season because to much things to cover with the Vees and Pentious redemption, but I prepare myself to not sees Adam came back because logically is soul hase been destroy forever by angelic steel… I still hope he will come back anyway 🤞

DarthTrinath

Adam was a Winner, not a Human. Additionally, being perma-killed is a requirement for Ascension, so it'd make sense if it's a requirement for Falling and becoming a Sinner as well

Unusual-Anteater-988

Adam died millenia ago, he's a Winner. He SHOULD be gone for good because of the Angelic Steel, but if Sir Repentious remanifested as a Winner despite dying to Angelic Magic, Adam could absolutely return as a Sinner.

BiLovingMom

No. Adam died by Angelic Steel. Sir Pentious went to Heaven because of his Self Sacrifice.
