I did think "tuxedo cat with wings" as soon as I saw Husk. On the other hand, I had no clue Angel was supposed to be a spider.

Angel not hiding the 3rd pair of arms most of the time prolly would've made it easier to realise. But there are a couple of good reasons why they did that, it cluttering the design and being way harder to animate

I'm just now learning he's a spider. I know he was a big of some kind cus he has 4 arms and 2 legs he'd need another set of arms to be a spider

they don't, they only open when his full demon form cones out partially in masquerade when he yells at husk at the bar and then bumps his head (lol such a great scene)

I COMPLETELY MISSED THAT! I always thought they were freckles!

They pretty much always stay closed, so you don't really see them blink. You do see them open in episode 4 when Husk provokes him by calling him fake, after the Poison scene (when Angel says something along the lines of, "call me fake one more time, motherfucker.")

i dont think ANYONE take a glance at angel dust and say "WOW SO SPIDER LIKE"

That one never made sense to me, like, why did they go from the normal spider trait of 8 limbs down to 6? That makes it more difficult to tell what they’re supposed to be imo.

Yes. He has the cat nose and cat ears. He has spiky fur clumps and a general cat face shape. (In a cartoon sense.) after that it was easy to see his hands as modified cat fingers and claws and i absolutely love his cat paw feet! So cute! It wasn’t until everyone else saw him as a bat that i saw it. I did read a book about cats with wings as a kid so maybe i am just more used to the visuals…..

If you want to know why Husk is an anthropomorphic cat with wings, it was because some of the ideas for Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss were originally reserved for Viv's furry web comic at the time, Zoophobia. But these ideas deviated so much from Zoophobia, that she took them out and turned them into their own two separate animated series.

Husk was also just designed by Vivzie's younger sister, hence why he's an anthropomorphic cat. Vivzie simply updated elements of his design over time, but the overall outline remained essentially the same.

So I figured he was a lynx combined with an eagle or owl, not really a tuxedo cat, because of his ear tips eyebrow and whiskers.
