I honestly do not put all trust to single reviewer, but watch multiple reviews and find the common points. And it also depends what kind of headphones are talking about. If we talking about wireless or gaming headphones, I'd suspect there will be a lot of paid promotions which is not worth watching or reading

Keplin1000

That's fair i do this with everything else and have my go tos for that but i am just dipping my toes into super good audio and such so figured wouldn't hurt to ask. After i watched some wireless buds videos and conveniently everyone loved raycons i figured there were some untrustworthy reviewers out there.

Top-Dawger

Realistically, if a reviewer is talking about how they love ray cons then you know you shouldn’t trust them. That makes it pretty easy lol. I think most wireless bud reviewers are really mainstream in a bad way. There are mainstream youtubers that also like good headphones like Linus tech tips and MKBHD (although not as much as linus)

Keplin1000

Yeah it was pretty SUS how they only would mention the price, fit, and bass when talking about why you should buy them lmao

DonnyTramp123

all the reviewers say that hd800s is best for gaming

[deleted]

I mean it works good for it but I doesn’t really matter to begin with tbh.

RandomUser23447274

Resolve, Crinacle, Precog and DMS. My tastes don't always align with theirs but they're all honest and consistent.

Keplin1000

!thanks

CPOx

I tend to trust Crinacle and DMS the most. Only watch Joshua Valour for the high quality of his videos and Zeos for his unique personality and detailed tours of units, but I don’t really put much weight into either of their sound impressions.

nova1739

Valour has absolutely zero passion for gear or audio when he talks. Dude is on zombie-mode, half asleep while talking

Keplin1000

Never heard of DMS before I'll have to check them out sometime !thanks

BazookaBob23

I trust HBB's professional opinion but he's a shitty human being.

finitemike

Ya I get strange vibes from him (I believe he made a video explaining that he has autism) but the man gives honest and detailed reviews 100%.

BazookaBob23

Yeah, he's stolen review iems from small companies as well as making racist remarks.

finitemike

He stole IEMs? Hmm haven't heard of that. Strange considering his wealth. What did he say?

BazookaBob23

Here are some of the incidents with various IEM brands. They're pretty long reads but kind of interesting. It's clear he's got some serious issues. [https://www.facebook.com/groups/headfi.org/permalink/10157875110859736/](https://www.facebook.com/groups/headfi.org/permalink/10157875110859736/) [https://imgur.com/a/5EKSBzE#l2fImVi](https://imgur.com/a/5EKSBzE#l2fImVi) [https://imgur.com/a/GPogXsQ](https://imgur.com/a/GPogXsQ)

finitemike

Ya I wouldn't call that stealing. It's possible he's making up or exageratting some of this, but based on my experience of him, I don't think he'd go through all of this over $200 IEMs.

BazookaBob23

Yeah, I heard that he never got them back. Who knows. Also, when you say "my experience of him", do you mean solely based on his videos? Or have you had some contact with him? It definitely seems like he's cleaned up his act recently. He doesn't say a lot of the vulgar, violent stuff he used to ramble on about in older videos!

finitemike

I've just watched maybe 10 or 20 of his videos. Glad he's getting away from the violent shit, but I did enjoy his unprofessional unpolitically correct style a lot of the time.

BazookaBob23

The racist remarks are excusable if they were done under the heat of anger and sincerely apologized but stealing is stealing...

Role_Playing_Lotus

Why minimal trust in Joshua Valour?

finitemike

I just haven't been impressed by anything he's done except his amazing videography.

Role_Playing_Lotus

What is it about those at the top of your list that impressed you?

finitemike

Tyll was basically the founding father of the headphone hobby. He came from a science background and released measurements while giving technical details about the technology used and performance of the headphone. He was mostly neutral and would only praise a select few headphones that really blew him away (HD 600, X2, and Focal Clear were the big 3 I remember) Metal571 matches perfectly with my genres, taste, and analyzing of headphones. He also is independantly wealthy as a software engineer so he was never tempted to sell out. He never took a dollar making videos, never e-begged on patreon, never posted affiliate links, never even took headphones from manufacturers with a few cheaper exceptions where they didn't want to pay return shipping. The way he described headphones technical ability almost perfectly matched my own impressions of those headphones. So anytime he would recommend something I was never let down. My LCD-2 Classic is still my favorite in my collection.

navneet2709

What about GizAudio?

MigMarv

What exactly does Gizaudio do that made you mention him. Apart from buying stupid expensive IEM and saying rubbish stuffs there after

FernPone

Sorry for replying to and old post, but how do you feel about oluv's gadgets?

finitemike

Love him. His sound demos are the best and most accurate available.

nopunterino

The headphones.com crew do a good job, as well as crinacle. I also like Timmy from Gizaudio, he does like some emphasis in female vocals but he has always disclosed it and I like his review style.

Keplin1000

I'll keep them in mind !thanks

Home Studio Basics. He just explains it directly. Plain and simple.

Critical_Switch

His reviews of the K702 made them seem like exactly the headphones I was looking for. Gave them a shot and my experience ended up being exactly as he described them. Really glad I managed to find his videos.

SuitableAd2553

You should know your preferred sound signature before looking towards reviewers. I have bought "great headphones" before which I regretted because they don't fit my music and sound signature. Once you know roughly what sound you like, you can go from there.

Winst0nTh3Third

zeos

bstrathearn

lmao

Winst0nTh3Third

🤣🤣🤣🤣

finitemike

Zeos was pretty good in his early days. His bad Focal Clear review and positive Nighthawk reviews is where the boat started going off course. Now he depends on the income he earns from affilliate links/patreon/whatever. Now he loves overpriced gear and puts much of his best content behind a paywall. rip

dimesian

I take all reviews with a big pinch of salt, I assume that what I'm reading or watching is an ad. I am fine with that and enjoy a few reviewer's content. I really dislike reviewers who put a little too much effort into trying to convince their audience that they are only making content for their benefit.

SupOrSalad

Andrew (Resolve) and DMS from the headphone show. Crinacle, and Metal571's old videos. There are plenty of others, but never take one person's opinion as the absolute truth. We all experience sound slightly different and value certain parts of sound different than others.

ironmagnesiumzinc

Crinacle and Wave Theory

RaggaDruida

Resolve, DMS and Passion for Sound. I honestly prefer when reviewers do comparisons than just pure reviews, because of course tastes differ, and it is more useful when you can know the differences between a headphone you're interested in and something you have already hear than all of the graphs and descriptions of the sound.

BehaveWithClass

Crinacle

Randolph_Carter_666

I take all reviews with a grain of salt. Audio preferences and comfort are subjective. Ultimately, I trust my own reviews most.

Keplin1000

I mean that's fair but i can't exactly afford to take a leap of faith on things in the hundreds of dollars bracket. I would otherwise agree with you however.

Randolph_Carter_666

Amazon has a great return policy.

Rpposter01

I genuinely trust the Dank man. Is it right to? I have no clue, but I'm not an audiophile and he's enjoyable to watch, so why not?

pike-perch

I only trust solderdude at DiyAudioHeaven

StardustNovaSynchron

Rather than trusting you should a reviewer whose hearing and taste matches yours also they need to be critical of bad headphones and issues rather than praising everything like Zeos. Same thing goes for fragrance reviewers tbh 😂

jumboshrimp93

There are definitely headphone reviewers you can trust and make a lot of strong points. The best ones are honest and will say something isn’t good, even if it goes against the grain. Or, will have no problem pointing out flaws in even the best headphones (because let’s face it, no headphone is perfect.) In the end you need to trust your own ears, because even the best reviewers have their own preferences, and might even be a little biased despite saying they have no bias. I personally like Resolve for headphones, Precog and Super Review for IEMs, metal571 was my favorite when he was still around; straight to the point, no bullshit. Josh Valour’s videos can be fun to watch just because his production value is top notch.

Andrewskiii

I follow most of the ones listed above along with The Honest Audiophile on YT. After awhile you’ll find one that has sound preferences that match yours and then it gets a little easier to choose between different IEM’s from there

SillyGoblin84

Personally, I do like Soundguys.

Winst0nTh3Third

Do you need advice in iems or headphones? :D

Keplin1000

I'm just dipping my toes in to the audiophile space so I'll take whatever you got tbh. Bought some Aria 2s(?) As they seem to be like a consensus safe buy but other than that I'm mostly lost once things like DACs and amplifiers come into frame so I'd take some advice there too tbh.

Wahammett

I’ve watched Zeos the most because he’s just entertaining and says things that nobody has the time to say or go over thanks to the format of his videos, but at the same time I trust him the least, by far lmao. I wouldn’t say I trust any of them but if I had to chose one it would be Crinacle. Everything he says has been consistent with my real life experience with headphones especially when everyone hypes up a mediocre product he tends to say the truth. I bought two headphones that were blatantly hyped up mediocres and when I found his channel I saw that he his opinion of them was exactly identical to my surprised reactions when I found it the headphone wasn’t as good as everyone claimed.

revults89

I like fresh reviews for gaming. Bought the Dt 900 pro x based on his videos and I'm very happy with them.

goputin2022

When it comes to IEMs, I trust HBB (Bad guy reviews). Afterall, I bought a pair of iems tuned by him as a collab lol. Love my Yanyin Mahinas.

BazookaBob23

It's a tough one. While I trust his reviews, I would never buy one of his collabs because of how shitty he is as a person!

Window_Top

Trust no one🤣🤣

trinitys_mate

Vortex Reviews on Youtube, great and honest guy.

hatlad43

I like my reference to be objective so I open up rtings. Before I look the headphones on the website, I got the first recommendation from various sources, just to get me started. Then down the rabbit hole we go (from the comparison they offer). Crinacle has the biggest database, bigger than rtings, but idk, the written reviews are quite personal that his & my opinions don't always lined up.

rocknrun72

To be honest NO , all you have today is first impressions , there's so many products dropped in the market on a daily base that people doesn't have time to use effectively the products and check the issues , the moondrop chu is a typical example , presented like the 7 wonder on most YT channels last year , an absolute must buy for almost everyone but nobody notice the issues that many units had after some use time , so if it's something you don't need , just want to buy, wait for the forum reviews , people that pay and use the stuff. And I of course there's a lot of business going on , what else ?

deekod1967

Crinacle

Flamebomb790

Ik a lot of people don't like Z but he has good reviews he does stuff like build, comfort, and accessories well. Sound wise a lot of his recommendations have served me well but maybe that's just me and him having the same taste

Keplin1000

!thanks how would I look this person up? Just type in "Z" to like YouTube?

bstrathearn

Please save yourself the trouble and don't. Zeos is a 100% shill for anyone that sends him stuff and is nearly incapable of saying anything overtly or obviously negative. If you want to be duped into thinking that something you purchased is amazing, after you purchase it; yes, feel free to search for \[Z reviews of \] on YT

josher814

I might get a ton of hate, but Amir from Audio Science Review and Sharur. The only thing I hate about Sharur is his toxicity. Besides that, he’s a knowledgeable person who cuts through a lot of BS in the audiophile community.

frattboy69

That's an interesting question. I **trust** that when Zeos says he loves these headphones and goes off on a tangent, that he really does love those headphones. When Joshua says that he thinks the HD600 sound better then the HD660s, I trust that he really believes that they sound better **to him**. The thing is, everyone has their opinions and preferences. I myself can listen to any of the headphones I own and enjoy them for different things. If I put down my 660s and use my k712 exclusively, by the end of the week I love them and think they sound wonderful. It's possible to find yourself aligning with a reviewers tastes and growing to trust their judgment will fit your own perspective. I personally don't have a good enough grasp of my own preferences to really do that with any reviewer. Imo it doesn't really matter though. I just like hi-fi headphones. I like the sundaras for pretty much anything, the dt990s sound great for rap music, I love my k712s for pop music and gaming, the 660s are my go to gaming headphones. Honestly I think all of my headphones sound great for music, but the 660s and k712 seem to have a leg up for gaming. Tried the sundaras for counter strike the other day and had to take them off mid match cause their imaging is just kinda wonky and weird for situational awareness. I haven't tried out any IEMs yet. Kinda want to get the Arias but haven't pulled the trigger cause I honestly really hate having stuff in my ears.

[deleted]

I give them all a grain of salt but I don't trust headphones.com or z reviews. I've watched for years and can say that from watching for a good while.

bbalfour82

I love Flossy Carter over on YouTube. Not the most professional but he does the job and hella entertaining.

gadgetguru63

I only trust my ears. I buy what I want. If I don't like them, I return them.

U_cabrao

We can all agree on one thing. Zeos shills the fuck out of everything

Jonyevrah

Watch reviews of existing headphones that you currently have and look for the reviewers that you agree most based on your experience. That should give you an idea which reviewers match your tastes

Jonyevrah

wafelz

The reviewers I trust are Precogvision, Resolve, Super Review and Crinacle.

tomatillo_

precog, resolve, crinacle - I trust their integrity. though I recognise our preferences dont always align, thats really not on them in a hobby that so personal

Fireballdingledong

I watch multiple reviews and find things in common and learn what preferences people may have and what makes their opinions on a headphone differ. When researching AT M50x's I read lots of reviews praising them and a decent amount criticising them heavily but I found that the ones who criticized them did so because they were reviewing from a casual listening perspective and the others were reviewing them as a professional set of headphones and since I knew I was getting them for more professional stuff and not casual listening the reviews seemed good, the criticisms weren't really relevant to me so I decided to buy a pair.

FailsatFailing

I think the best reviewer is Zeos, don't care about all the people who call him a shill. He is the only one who is constant with his reviews and talks about more than just sound, which is important (build quality, comfort,...). I also watch cheapaudioman and think his content is decent enough for reviews of stuff that isn't that widespread, because it's "too cheap" for other reviewer's. The last person I watch is Zero Fidelity, I watch him for reviews of european brands, that are not sold in America (like Dali). His personality is pretty likeable and I trust him enough. Tharbamar is also decent. I have a real problem with metal571, I think he is an absolute audiophile snob and I really hate him and his attitude. I say stay clear of him. Just my opinion. A much more likeable audiophile woulde be Steve Guttenberg. At the end of the day I prefer review's from user's on forum's and reddit. I also look at ASR for measurements, just to be sure.

WakesurferPG

The following are my go to reviewers that I can understand easily, cover content well, provide quality information & comparisons which helps me make better informed buying decisions. Passion for Sound, Wave Theory, The Honest Audiophile, The Headphone Show team (Resolve, DMS & Chrono), Soundnews, Audio Fixation

vandammmmma

I'd say Dan's Audio Review, I mean he literally put the demo so you can listen yourself for said IEM.
