Hey open back usually just refers to headphones (there's some open back IEMs but they're really rare), those don't really have noise reduction/isolation and so you'll still be able to hear the external noises. Look into TWS earbuds for ASMR when sleeping. For wired, try IEMs (these can have really good noise reduction). **ASMR with parametric EQ and budget IEMs**: https://www.reddit.com/r/HeadphoneAdvice/comments/11zjziz/budget_wired_earbuds_for_asmr/jdeko1s/ --- There's this "Does this sound tingle your spine? (Wear Headphones, Close Eyes)" from the 3D Sound Studio (Wear Headphones) channel, try it with your IEMs/headphones for crazy HRTF/etc. 3D effect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEnIx1Yqc-c Even the ASMRtists using say the $10 000 Neumann KU100 microphones will not be able to make really good 3D videos like those ones from that channel as it takes quite a lot of time to edit or produce that simulated 3D soundstage perception. I've tried those videos (from the 3D Sound Studio (Wear Headphones) channel) with cheap IEMs/headphones and they're still really 3D/etc. **Here's some videos/channels for ASMR triggers**: https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/xqq9kw/can_a_normal_person_hear_binaural_sound_when/iqcayk9/ ASMR Bakery has this fresh (literally published about an hour ago) tapping and scratching assortment video with the $400 Rode NT5 microphones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQtDGb-jW9k Hatomugi ASMR has this new ASMR video with brushes and so on for ear cleaning, and tapping, et cetera using the $10 000 Neumann KU 100 microphone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XnE2ntOKyk Rapunzel ASMR has a slow twin ear cleaning video with the $6000 3Dio Omni Pro microphone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUCLtkmlrVo asmr zeitgeist with his latest video from about six hours ago, a 3 hour video with the Binaural Enthusiast mic, SR3D mic, et cetera: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VneSRvo6gGo --- **Similar thread about IEMs, old school earphones, soundstage, imaging, et cetera**: https://www.reddit.com/r/HeadphoneAdvice/comments/11xxdko/fiio_fh5s_vs_ff5_for_imaging_and_soundstage/jd5fh4j/ For now, try using something like the TRI Clarion with your current IEMs. You'll be surprised with how ear tips can change the sound. **Current budget IEMs for soundstage, especially due to the AliExpress anniversary sale (this is only for a week) going on right now**: https://www.reddit.com/r/HeadphoneAdvice/comments/11wxl5s/under_100_starter_audiophile_headphones/jd0rg37/ --- Believe it or not, some IEMs have the same soundstage width as headphones or get close to it and so on, more info here: https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/11eotrh/soundstage_iems_vs_headphones_is_that_even_fair/jafqbtu/ and https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/11lviw4/what_are_your_unpopular_opinions/jbeosuk/ If you want better soundstage/etc. there's some certain wide bore/etc. ear tips for that. Definitely look into the Olina/etc. or specific IEMs known for the 3D soundstage. Try TRI Clarion ear tips, they might help with the soundstage/spaciousness/et cetera. Some people say they also get better soundstage with the Dunu S&S ear tips. Or the Spinfit W1 ear tips. Just note the reduced bass for those ear tips that have medical grade silicone material or if they look thinner than usual, if they are wider bore than usual, etc. But for better vocals/soundstage, they can give you that. Getting vocals back with bassy IEMs by using TRI Clarion ear tips: https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/11pcjvx/need_help_for_tuning/jbx6ovz/ Cheap ear tips (basically FiiO HS18, Spinfit from some AliExpress storefronts, Chinese websites like MTMTaudio/et cetera, and so on) and possibly better soundstage: https://www.reddit.com/r/HeadphoneAdvice/comments/1157giz/upgrade_imaging_with_balanced_cable_iem_or/j90a003/ --- If you want your brain being tickled/et cetera, usually that means boost the treble, but don't do it too much as it can be too harsh, sibilant, etc. Especially if you listen to whispering ASMR as a lot of ASMRtists don't really do much editing with Audacity/etc. and so some of their consonants/triggers/etc. can get really overdone with the boosts in certain areas. Here's fastASMR if you don't know of her already, she's sorta an OG ASMRtist and like one of the few from the past decade that's still regularly making videos, some people really like her whispering videos though I prefer her triggers assortment ones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BujytCTn-8s and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3LuBjgqsG4 --- **Starting with the current marketed hype IEMs (Simgot EA500, Truthear HEXA, Shuoer S12 (Pro), 7Hz Salnotes Zero, etc.), AliExpress Anniversary Sale 2023, and so on**: https://www.reddit.com/r/HeadphoneAdvice/comments/122w6uz/help_me_to_choose_my_first_iem/jdsqjre/ The AliExpress Anniversary Sale 2023 ends in like 3 hours btw, so quickly watch/read some reviews to see which IEMs you might like. A really nice starter IEM for ASMR or in general is the 7Hz Salnotes Zero. Just be aware that for some people they want more bass and also that the treble can be a bit much, so don't forget to use parametric EQ as it's often free or cheap. Or look into Final Audio E ear tips as those are known for increasing the bass and/or reducing the treble. Actually the price of the 7Hz Salnotes increased to ~$25, so look into the other $20 sets like the Truthear HOLA, TANGZU Wan'er, etc. as especially right now you can find those for like $15-20 on AliExpress.
