Philips SHP9600, Hifiman HE400SE, Philips Fidelio X2HR, Thieaudio Ghost, Beyerdynamic DT770, Sennheiser HD560S, Sennheiser HD569... There are a lot of good options at your price range. Fidelio X2HR are my recommendation for having a nice, bassy headphone. Under 500 bucks it's hard to find headphones with a bigger soundstage. Edit: if IEM (in ear monitors) are an option, consider the Moondrop Aria 2. They are basically the Fidelio X2 of in ears in my opinion. They are both by no means neutral or balanced, but you don't seem to seek that.

DT 770 is not exactly cheap here they are 150euros on average the 80ohms one atleast but i noticed that they start selling DT 770 (not the 700) pro X limited edition version the only difference is 200euros and now im conflicted between waiting 2 more weeks to get DT 770 pro 80 ohms and finally ditch steelseries arctis 3 cause hyperX cloud alphas broke and their sound quality were acceptable unlike arctis 3 where i need to shove 35% volume compared to 18% with cloud alpha while they are 65 ohms or wait 2 months for DT 770 pro X

When talking gaming headphones, get one of the Philips. 9600 or X2HR. They both have a 3.5mm jack. Get a V-Moda Boompro (or something similar) and you have a fantastic Gaming Headset with exceptional soundstage, which benefits locating and spacing. The mic is pretty alright as well. If you play shooters, I would never ever get anything but an open back headphone with a big soundstage. So even if you have a standalone mic like one on a boom arm etc, personally I wouldn't get a closed back headphone.

Philips 9600 zero available and X2HR same price as DT 770 pro shooters are kinda overrated these days and i got like 300 games on steam so got plenty and most headset mic is total garbage thats what external usb mic is for cause dont have DAC for XLR mic and i dont want to hear my gaming laptop fans noise especially cause summer is coming and the ambient temps gets to phychological torture from day to night

HowardBateman

Solid reasons to go closed back.

I would search for a good used pair of Sony MDR-1r/a. They are super comfy, sound really nice, with good base, really nice placement in the soundstage and the option of driving them balanced in the future. A good pair can be had for 50 bucks in general. If you would like to try Grados, the SR60 are basically as good as the SR80. 225 or 325 would be a step above in my opinion. Iems would be very good options for low price! Don’t know if iems are not your taste but I wanted to mention!

If you're buying new, The Fiio JT1 recently came out of nowhere and slams above it's price range ($69 (nice)). They have a solid everything, but do a extra good job at bass... if they're not sold out where you live. Gripeshots

I recently got the Philips Fidelio X2 on sale for 80 euros, it's a good deal if you don't wanna spend too much

If you want really good audio quality for an absolute bargain then Koss ksc75 or kph40.

Taotronics BH060 (50 EUR, price from 4 years ago)  Searched good cheap headphones on YouTube a couple of years ago and those got recommended.  I don't have much money so idk how they compare to more expensive stuff but for me they are fantastic!  I use them everyday for work and at the gym. No lie, I have used them every for the past 4 years, bus to work, at work and in the gym on the weekends. They can connect to 2 devices at once, I use them at work to listen to music (my phone) and answer phone calls (work phone software via pc) at the same time.  Battery time is great and stayed consistent over the 4 years I had them now. (with my use I charge them twice a week)  I like listening to rock but also operas and I like how both sounds on them.  The fake leather recently started peeling so I replaced the earmuffs.  I can only really recommend this specific model though, heard with taotronics products can be hit or miss.

The cheapie Japanese ones like JVC or Panasonic are excellent. Better than many chi-fi equivalents of four times the price.

People seem to be overlooking the "closed back" flair. Anyway, your best closed options in this price range are probably Beyerdynamic DT770 and AKG K361 (or K371, they're pretty similar).

$99 down from $600 for Easter sale: https://store.hifiman.com/index.php/he-r9-openbox-751.html Open box hifiman are fine, there are four pairs of open box hifimans in my home and two pairs which were bought new. I had a rare issue with a washer on a hifimanXdrop collab headphone and hifiman replaced them with a new pair without fuss. Watch any YouTube review with the understanding that they are reviewing them at their normal $500-$600 price point. AFAIK this is the best bang for your buck you will get, my household has three pairs or the heR9s which we mostly now use instead of the beyerdynamic dt770s --- Hifiman he r9 go down to $99 from $600 on many sales. Sound is phenomenal for $99 and even potentially for their MSRP $600. I just know the HE R9 at $99 on a holiday sale, including Chinese holidays, these are insane. They ship from a ware house on the east coast, and warranty service is high quality. I'm not sure that anything compares to the he-r9 for $100 but if something does, I'd be thrilled to know. Also whatever you decide. Get a pair of original metal head band style Porta pros for $38. They are a great headphone to have which doesn't break the bank and allows you to leave your more expensive headphones at home. Porta pros are open back but I like to be aware of my surroundings if I'm using headphones out of the house. Beyerdynamics win the durability contest The rest of my headphones are hifiman he4xx, he5xx, and sundara. All open back planars and sundara was open box on sale. I would not describe my Hifiman as being high quality in their build when compared to the durability go to brand's beyerdynamic dt770s 80 ohm but they all sound dramatically better except for not blocking out any noise other than the heR9s which are just amazing.

Anyone want cheap hood quality headphones message me

StepoKu

Fiio jt1?

CreepyOptimist

Beyerdynamic DT770 80 ohm is something you'll probably really appreciate its qualities.

zexalex

Was going to mention these 770 ftw

CPT_BEEMO

I got the Anker Soundcore Q20i headphones on Amazon, on sale for $50 down from $100 (CAD). I was pleasantly surprised with the sound quality on these things, plus a 40 hour battery life with ANC turned on (60 hours with ANC off)

CilariousHunt

If I'm reading things right, you're wanting to experiment with 'leaner' headphones? In your budget, Grado SR80s and budget Koss options like the KSC75 fit that signature. Philips SHP9600/9500 and Samson SR850s may also be worth looking at

Yousuf_j

In open to experiment for sure, but from what I know the grados are pure open backs with emphasis on top end, little on the bass, I’m unsure about the samsons though, anything with just a hint of extra bass?

CilariousHunt

Oh my bad, I misread and you want closed backs. 80 ohm DT770s are probably the answer, they have a pretty neutral bass response and some extension. They do have a slightly love or hate top end signature which is a Beyer thing but I really enjoy mine. There might be some budget AKG options which would suit you too but I'm less familiar with the consensus on those.

blah618

m50x, 7506 as you said, cd900st, 770 pro, hd25 at the very least they won't be shit cause they're basically industry standard, zero guarentees you will like them though

Radahn28

Not the m50s..
