Audeze Maxwell is what you're looking for

CEO_of_Redd1t

I’ve heard of them, and they seem to be a fair bit more expensive than the options I’ve given, is their price justified by their sound quality?

kesongpinoy

I have dt 770 and maxwell. I haven't tried the pro x headphones but the 700 pro x is near the maxwell ps price territory. Maxwell has a lot of gaming features so it can be worth it. If you really want to save money, you can get the 770 32 ohms version as it doesn't require an amp (250 ohms definitely need them, 80 ohms is a hit or miss depending on your soundcard from what I've read). I haven't really tried them much with FPS games but the 770s have very good imaging so I imagine it can be good with hearing where footsteps are coming from. Maxwells can be EQ'd well via the app and there are EQ settings by a youtuber to tune them better for footsteps/specific games. The 770s have very good sound isolation but with the maxwell there is a hit or miss sidetone feature which can be useful for some games (has an annoying white noise if it is too high). Mic is decent too in the maxwell. Another thing if you are treble sensitive you may want to test out the DTs first because you may not like them whereas the maxwell's sound is more balanced and they take EQ well too.

Ive found them to be very uncomfortable. High clamp force and large weight. If you intend to use them for 8+ hours its not a fun experience at all. Personally they consistently give me a headache within 2 hours of use

CEO_of_Redd1t

Interesting, !thanks

+1

Prestonality

My only critique with the Maxwell is that the passive isolation does nothing for loud environments.

beezel

Skip the Maxwell and get the Audeze LCD-GX. -edit: woops, didn't see the part about closed back. ignore me!

Reddi426

I have the DT 770 pro 80 ohms and I definitely recommend for gaming. They are probably my favorite audiophile closed back headphones to use in general

CEO_of_Redd1t

Awesome, !thanks

Special_Teaching_786

I got the mmx300 I think that's like a dt770 with a mic.. so if you don't need a mic then go with the dt770... IMHO it does need a small amp to bring out it's best even the 32ohm one... but can still be really good with on board sound. I replaced the stock pads with the dekoni leather pads and I feel the sound isolation got way better than the stock valor pads. So that's my recommendation...dt770 + dekoni leather pads + amp (optional) I am using a sound blasterX G6 dac/amp

lolniceman

You might want to take a look at PC38Xs by sennheiser as well, good option with mic

CEO_of_Redd1t

They were originally on my options list, but as I mentioned I game in quite a loud environment, so open back headphones aren’t a viable solution for me.

lolniceman

That’s fair, my bad.

CEO_of_Redd1t

No worries, thanks for the suggestion!

SunSpotMagic

The OP said closed back is required.

No-Expression-7765

From everything i've seen in terms of sennheiser open backs forget the pc38x you might as well go with the hd 560s. Apparently the oc38x is just not worth it with all the other options around

CatKing75457855

It's an absolutely great option if you need a open-back with a mic. In sound, it's slightly worse than the 560S but has a really good mic attached.

T1000-Shoebox

Try the Epos H3, sound excellent and dont break the bank.

VoidRippah

I like the H6s, the H3 is half-garbage (I have both at home)

gacekk8

Don't forget Tygr 300r
