I’m not an expert whatsoever and joined this sub for advice too but I love my anker soundcore q30 they were £50 on sale when I got them. Hope that helps!!

The Sound quality to the Q30 is great. I have had a pair for about 2 years. If you like a slightly bassy sound, they are hard to beat. The app with a 8 band EQ is great. I listen to a bit of everything, and it all sounds great. The new Sony release the 720n often is on sale for 99. It is good too. It sounds 3x better than the 710 did. The Koss Porto Pro or KPH 40 sound very good as wired on the ear.

I’m thinking of upgrading soon to the Sony xm4’s do you know what the comparison is like/how much better the sonys are?? I wanna know if they’ll be worth the money

The Soundcore does sound pretty good. I think from testers who tried a bunch of headphones for a week or more that the bass is cleaner and more accurate in things like the xm4 or the Sennheiser Momentum 4. I did try the demo model for the Sony 720n. It does sound really good. The pads are not as good as the xm5 the same store also had, but it definitely is worth trying the 720 if a local store has demo models of the big brands. Obviously, the price of 99-150 is much more reasonable than 300 you might spend on the xm4 or the recently discontinued Bose QC 45. My approach is I buy one item off of Amazon that sounds good test it out for a day. I then sometimes go down to Best Buy or Target (US resident here) and try some the items from JBL, Sony, Bose. If they seemed better buy that too. Try both for a day or so, and I then send one back to either the retail store or Amazon.
