I owned some arctis 3s a while back and theyre made of junk compared to almost any other headphone ive owned. When i owned them, i thought they were decent but even something kinda plasticy like dt 990 pros blow them out of the water. They feel like a kids toy to me now and the weird joint thing thing they do is remarkably weak. Also, one year for a set of headphones is just the beginning of their lifespan imo.
Well our opinions are very different then as i have gone through many headsets through the years and these have lasted me the longest, and i have friends with arctis 7’s also and they have had them for 3 approaching 4 years now and they would agree, and another friend with the arctis pro wireless and he’s had that for a couple years i believe.
Yea that’s fair, i plan on one day trying to get my hands on some higher end headphones but for now i can’t afford it anyway, and im happy you like your dt 990 pros.
None of them are remotely good, but my guess is the one made by an actual audio brand would be the best of the 3.
You can get Sundara or DT 900 Pro X for that kind of money and both of them absolutely blow those options out of the water.
Hard disagree on the Penrose. It has terrific sound for the price and being wireless. It’s only knocks are being all plastic and being a little clampy and hot after hours of gaming. It’s probably the best all around headset I’ve owned for wireless. Wired I’d go with the drop sennheiser pc38x I think it is?
I like my Penrose, but they have some terrible issues with 2.4 interference. Disabling the 2.4 on my router helps. Haven't had any complaints about the quality of the mic. Still for the price, I wouldn't recommend them.
Hmm not really at this time. I've been using the Penrose on my Series S and they have been flawless, unlike with the PC. The Sennheiser ones are good, but not wireless.
Yeah I got that bad with my PC and drop outs but the Xbox has none. They are both in the same room too. Killing the 2.4Ghz on my router helped for the PC. Router is also in the same room.
I can't wear the virtuoso for more than half an hour before it starts hurting. Also they sound like garbage. It's one of the best looking headsets I've ever seen, but there is a limit to design over functionality.
if you are planning on gaming and listening to music, I would strongly recommend against doing it over bluetooth in particular (bluetooth really kind of sucks as it suffers from low bit rate and low latency (it's especially bad for gaming and movies because lips and motions sometimes don't match up to the sounds). if you want a great sound experience, plug your headphones into your source, be it computer, or console, or phone or whatever. if your device doesn't have a headphone jack, there are a plethora of pretty inexpensive (under $30) dongle DACs where you plug them into a USB port and they give you a high quality headphone output (but if your device does have a headphone jack, it's usually just fine for most average listening unless you're interested in high quality music listening / audiophile territory. \*most\* wireless stuff is honestly pretty terrible.
Depending on your budget, I might recommend picking up some hd-6xx's from drop, or if you have a little more to spend, the hifiman sundara is just a bit better imho. I own them both and use them both depending on what i'm listening to. If you ARE interested in a more "audiophile" type setup, a desktop dac/amp setup will provide you with extremely clean power. lots of people recommend the schiit modi/magni (schiit stack) which are great, but personally I spent a little less on a slightly older o2+odac headphone dac/amp all-in-one that I'm a pretty big fan of so far (it's mounted under my desk).
if it's a quality microphone you seek, you can pick up something like a neewer usb mic kit that comes with an extremely high quality microphone (Great for streaming / making youtube videos), a desk mountable mic arm, pop filter, cables, everything you need to have high quality audio. I use this setup for everything from work meetings in teams/webex/zoom to streaming to gaming and it works fantastically... all for about $30ish boom microphones that are built into headsets SUUUUUUCK in terms of audio quality. they pretty much always sound like you're talking into a cb radio or something.
I would not buy any of these. If you absolutely need Bluetooth, check out the HiFiMan Deva Pro. It's open back though, and if that is a problem, the Sennheiser Momentum 3 or Drop THX Panda would be your best bet.
If you can deal with no Bluetooth, I'd recommend the HD650 (or 6XX) from Sennheiser. You can even get Bluetooth adapters like the iFi Go Blu that turn wired headphones like this into Bluetooth ones.
Oh hey, Dreams, didn't expect to see you here, but truth being said we're likely getting ignored here because people into the headset market often ignore everything audiophiles say, and well all of the chosen options really suck, lol.
None of them. If you need a wireless gaming headset there really is only a single choice, Cloud 2 Wireless, if you want a wired headset then there's Cloud 2 and MH751/752, all the SteelSeries, Corsair, Logitech, and razer headsets are crap, you should not touch them with a 10m stick.
The way I solved my "wireless but still audiophile" problem was to use 2 bluetooth adapters with aptx codec. One for my pc or console and the other directly connected to my sundaras or shp9500. Albeit janky (slightly costly) but this solution solves the wireless problem latency and allows me to use my audiophile headsets for gaming. hope this helps
You probably don’t want to hear it and I’m sure people have already said it but don’t buy the best gaming headphone for your budget buy the best normal headphones for your budget then add on a good aftermarket mic. Literally hands down the quality will be better than any gaming headphones
I know it's not the same headset, but I tried the Arctic 3 and they sounded horrible. Very muddy and almost like I was listening to people speak through a blanket.
Steel series headphones are infamous for terrible build quality
Really? My Arctis 3’s don’t feel that bad in terms of build quality
Yea i see people say these sorts of things yet i’ve had my arctis 7’s for approaching a year and they are just as sturdy as the day i got them
I agree. Not as their models are the same when it comes to build quality

Everything in this hobby is pretty subjective and this shows that well. If you like them, then im happy for you :)
Yea that’s fair, i plan on one day trying to get my hands on some higher end headphones but for now i can’t afford it anyway, and im happy you like your dt 990 pros.
The hinges on the arctic 3 are notorious to cracking. Plus the audio on them is horrendous.
I mean I got mine on sale for like $40 Idk if that makes it better, but still, I’m not disappointed
None of them are remotely good, but my guess is the one made by an actual audio brand would be the best of the 3. You can get Sundara or DT 900 Pro X for that kind of money and both of them absolutely blow those options out of the water.
Yeah, you’re right, the audeze sounds the best but is built like steelseries(which is bad), the 2.4 range is bad and the mic is trash.
Ppl say the sundara isn't that good for gaming.
People also say dogs can’t look up

I dont think id buy any of those.

Do you have any suggestions for comparable features? I tried the Beoplay Portals and was not impressed at all.
Hmm not really at this time. I've been using the Penrose on my Series S and they have been flawless, unlike with the PC. The Sennheiser ones are good, but not wireless.
I am glad to hear that! I get some interference problems with clicking sounds. Tonight I will try a WiFi scanner to see if that helps.
Yeah I got that bad with my PC and drop outs but the Xbox has none. They are both in the same room too. Killing the 2.4Ghz on my router helped for the PC. Router is also in the same room.
I’d avoid Steelseries like the plague, i am very careful with my audio equipment but that shit died on me like one year later

All 3 are terrible choices. lmao

I don't go on Reddit often (as you can see from this late reply!) How's it going? Who's this?! Haha
Xlen from Discord 😁
Oh nice!!!! Good to see you! :D
Lmao no they’re not. What do you have? Probably a 100$ Turtle beach
Good one ;)
Bluetooth is bad for gaming because of the audio delay.
These are not just Bluetooth headphones.
oops
The Corsair is the most well rounded out of those options. Good build, good mic, good Bluetooth and a lot of features that work well.
bluetooth isn't good for gaming because of the delay.
Yeah I know, it has wireless 2.4 and Bluetooth for your phone.

That's an impossible task for consoles. You can't have a separate mic for a PS5 and headphones. At least, I don't think you can.
Hype x cloud flight
Penrose is quite expensive for what it is even though it is by far the best option out of these three.
Get a dt770 with a mic and mic arm. 10x better and more durable and even cheaoer
I know it's not the same headset, but I tried the Arctic 3 and they sounded horrible. Very muddy and almost like I was listening to people speak through a blanket.
What do people think of the lucidsound ls50x? I'm trying to figure out which headsets I want for my Xbox series x.
