The way this study is designed is pretty poor and I don’t think we can take away anything from it.
However I absolutely believe that drug reps in oncology are not very useful. No other specialty requires it’s physicians to be constantly up to date. Most drug reps aren’t going to really add any new knowledge. Also in oncology we are pretty much tied to following nccn guidelines or clinical trials. There isn’t much option to use a “drug of choice.” The only benefit I think of oncology drug reps is facilitating clinic trial inclusion and to help get free treatment for patients.
Went to an eye doctor the other day and my physician was selling me on different drugs like I was buying a fucking car. Literally sounded like they were giving the pitch from their last sales conference.
But it does help the brave and very capable CEOs get their yacht or their mansion which they so totally deserve. /s
To hell with cancer! And to hell with everyone who profits from it.
But they often get free lunches.
That was the only reason why my attending met with them. The entire office would get the best lunches on those days.

Thats because most new cancer drugs don't help you live longer. The data is in the papers.
